Ded from the cute

Thailand dropped the official trailer for their version of Cherry Magic and it was very cute so I decided to watch the original and OMG I was not expecting to love this as much as I did.

This show is SO EFFING CUTE. It's like a basket of puppies wrapped in rainbows, unicorns and sparkle hearts. It's so soft and innocent and yet somehow keeps you on the edge of your seat every single episode. I was literally watching this in bed kicking my feet and squealing.

One of the most impressive things to me is that Adachi and Kurosawa are both fundamentally kind and decent people and that there are no villains or rivals in the story. It's hard to make a story like this dramatically interesting but this production pulled it off.

The casting of the leads is perfect. Akaso Eiji is gifted at physical comedy and I laughed out loud every time Adachi jumped or flailed or just looked panicked when he read Kurosawa's romantic thoughts. But he was also able to pull my heartstrings in the scenes that were sadder and more poignant. Machida Keita was seriously impressive at showing us a man with a perfect facade but who is a pure romantic inside. His performance in the scene where he confesses to Adachi and then covers up his emotions with a pasted on smile was incredible.

The leads had incredible chemistry. I have no idea how two men simply holding hands or sharing a meal made me shriek like a teenager at a concert but they had a chokehold on me.

The writing is excellent and I loved the themes of learning to love yourself, behave authentically and connect with other human beings. The hook of a virgin with mind reading powers could have gone creepy and gross but instead Adachi's pure nature and sincere desire to help other people made it touching and heartwarming.

Fujisaki deserves a special shoutout for being such a lovely and complex character who is secure in herself, doesn't need a relationship and sincerely desires to support her friends. The show briefly teased us with a possible love triangle and then turned it around to something that added a lot of warmth to the story.

I also really enjoyed Rokkaku for being hilariously clueless and I loved his eager puppy energy.

The only thing I disliked was the second couple, who were poorly cast. Tsuge's actor looked older than 30 while Minato's actor looked about 17 years old even though he's in his 20s. They had no chemistry and Tsuge's actor went way way way over the top. It's very interesting to compare his performance with Akaso Eiji who also brought a manga vibe to some of his scenes but for some reason knew exactly how far to go to make you laugh without being off putting.

I was also seriously disappointed we didn't get a kiss between the leads since the second leads got one. I saw a behind the scenes with the actors and they seemed really comfortable with each other so who knows why they opted not to do it. I have to say though that they were able to sell me on the depth of their love for each other even without a kiss and that's impressive.

I'm sure Thailand will do a good job with this story and they will definitely give us a kiss but I doubt it will make me feel as happy and warm as the Japanese version. This is going into my rotation of comfort dramas.

A Lighthearted Sweet Romance!

I'm so much in love with Adachi & Kurosawa!!!

BL drama popularity has been on the rise and that just made these dramas lose quality. Pretty much every BL has a similar cliched plotline. I was starting to get a bit tired of watching these overused tropes over and over again. BUT THIS DRAMA MADE ME FALL IN LOVE WITH THE WORLD AGAIN!

The story felt so fresh and original. I guess the fantasy trope of being able to hear people's thoughts seems a bit tacky, BUT GUYS, YOU NEED TO WATCH THIS DRAMA...IT'S SOOO GOOD! I ended up bingeing it in a single day including the special episodes, I'm planning on watching the movie too.

Why watch it, you ask?
Lovable characters...Every character is very unique and well-written.
Lots of humour and fun, you'll never get bored watching this drama.
There's no toxicity involved. The way they both love and support each other is so sweet.
Awesome cast who made sure their characters were played perfectly.
Awesome soundtracks.

My favourite element in the whole drama is the character development Adachi goes through. He was an introverted guy, really shy and demure but a sweet, talented guy. His skills and capabilities all go unnoticed by people because he's so demure. I love how he finally becomes determined to become the best version of himself just for Kurosawa.
So guys, as I've told you multiple times - JUST GO WATCH IT.

‼️SPOILERS‼️This show will always be my favorite!!

Where do I even begin?? This consept is just so uniqe and I loved watching every single bit of this show. I watched it back when it was still airing and oh my, i’m not one to replay shows at all because I get bored really fast but I’ve watched this show at least 3 times which is 2 times over what I normaly do which to me says something!

The actors are funny in the show like a lot of japanese BL’s tend to have a lot of, but I grew super quick to like the characters! Kurosawa is so handsome and Adachi aswell with a cuteness to him.

I LOVED the scene where Adachi was sick and Kurosawa came over and slipped, my heart jumped out of my chest! But again to circle back, I love the cozy feel to this show and even tho we had close calls here and there with the main couple, they never kiss or anything like that! Which is just perfect. I hate how a lot of newer shows always has to have very sexual scenes, but this has only one or two? but that’s only the side couple! Idk I just thought it was a good thing in this show. It shows people that the show itself doesn’t have to have sexual scenes or kiss scenes in order for it to be watchable or good, it just made sense for this show to be so cozy and not overly sexual at all. And it didn’t kill the romance at all!

I loved this show and it’ll always have a special place in my heart! ?

Stunning On All Levels, A Must Watch Romance

I have rewatched the series and telemovie at least twice. This is a wonderful love story, that so many people will relate to. Akaso Eiji is one of those actors who can speak with eyes, and express emotions without saying a word, and has fantastic physical comedy ability; Keita Machida says so much with just a smile or simple movement. Several of the support actors really shine in the smallest moments. It should be made available on Netflix as it is such a fantastic, modern dramedy that begs for a huge audience. A do not miss ! Although it is highly restrained (the kisses are few and are disguised by elevator doors etc), the chemistry and love of the two MLs is obvious and you will watch with a smile on your face.

super cute and wasnt too cheesy for me, i kin adachi sm. this is great to watch when you want to pass time or are bored. the side couple wasnt my fav but thats okay, still great! adachi and kurosawa were great characters and the acting was superb. i wish we had a few more episodes of fluff in their relationship, and maybe some more kiss scenes? haha.

The Wizards Entertained Me

This show was just plain charming. It does fall into the "overly sanitized" category of Japanese shows, but the romantic chemistry between the leads was so palpable and they expressed their affection for each other so often and so genuinely that I even started to have a little bit of fun with how much the show was teasing the audience with almost showing the two kiss but then stopping short at the last second. Sure it was frustrating (as, personally, I am someone who doesn't place too much stock in more explicit scenes, but does value realistic physical affection between characters who love each other, be it romantic love, or platonic, or any other sort) but by the end it felt almost tongue-in-cheek and some of those moments (looking at you, closing-elevator-doors-scene) honestly made me chuckle.

Some personal highlights (aka Things I Loved):
- The entire concept. It's silly, it's goofy, it's weirdly romantic, it shouldn't work but it really really does.
- Tsuge and his friendship with Adachi. Tsuge is a strange little man who feels too much, too often, all at once and it only seems to make him more determined to figure out what he wants out of life and how to be there for the people he cares about. I find him delightful and his relationship with Minato, while fairly uneventful, is quite sweet.
- Fujisaki Nozomi and everything she represents. While the word "asexual" is never explicitly used to describe Nozomi, she did set off my spidey-senses, my ace-detector if you will, and by the end I was convinced, yes this is an asexual woman not just existing but thriving and I adore her to pieces. Her storyline touches on the importance of self-love and directly counters the idea that romantic love is what makes life fulfilling. Not only is this an important and meaningful topic to address, it also serves to balance out the fairly romance focused main plot and lends depth and complexity to several other characters' arcs that may otherwise have been lacking.

In conclusion: This is a charming and easy-to-watch rom-com with some unexpected yet very welcome depth to it. It's fun, it's wholesome, go watch it with your friends, your family, hell, watch it with your grandparents, it's so clean and inoffensive they might just love it.

Best BL drama I’ve watched! Go watch it!!

I have watched this series at the very least 6x probably more, it is soooo good. Kurosawa is the greenest of green flag characters and Adachi is the cute, innocent type.
Without giving it all away here I can tell you it’s just so lovely. The story from beginning to end just has you beaming.
Even the side characters made me laugh and root for them although I will be honest after the first two times I now skip their parts (sorry)
The movie was the perfect ending to it. I still wanted more lol but the movie completed it when the series felt like it just needed that little bit extra.
Ah if you haven’t already please go watch it you will absolutely love it. These two are my absolute favourites. ?

Adachi's "WHAT"

that guy said what every 5 seconds but it was fun. after watching i feel like i should stay virgin till 30 just to get this power and then never let this magic go away. anyways back to the series. this is the first Japanese bl series i have watched and it did not disappoint me at all actually it was much better than i expected it to be. this series didn't have a single kiss scene but it still stole my heart. usually i don't like series which do not have kiss scenes because they are childish and immature but this one was just perfect. the actors where also grate overall i really hope you watch it because it's worth it all..

fofo

My fav romance series ever!!!

Definetly my favourite confort drama!!! I love everything about this serie, is everything so clean, so calm, so confortable, also the story is so cutely romantic, the definition of heart-warming! I wish I can have my gentle and charming Kurosawa one day >< haha
About the drama itself, it is in the right point. You can feel all the emotions that the characters are feeling, especially Adachi.
This piece is about a romance between two men in a middle-age timing, and as expected, is not an easy journey for both of them, since they´re grown men "discovering'' their sexuality. However, there´s no playing games here, everything happens in the most natural and healthy way, wich makes it a lot more easy to watch.

Recommended this TO ALL MY FRIENDS

Halfway through the first episode and I started recommending to EVERYONE. I haven't read the manga so I can't compare it to that but this pilot was just TOO GOOD. I love the plot, the leads, the conflict -- I can't think of an aspect I don't love about it. The plot -- it's something new, something fresh, a sort-of palate cleanser from your usual BL plots. The conflict is too cute. The leads!!! Eiji Akaso is such a breath of fresh air. And Keita Machida gives off a SVT Jeonghan vibe, if you're a fan of kpop. I highly recommend.
