Prince Jing tries to figure out Mei's true identity, but becomes discouraged after failing to find out. In the recapture of Jin Ling, Xia Jiang escapes from prison, angering the Emperor. He later asks Prince Ji if he should promote Prince Jing as Crown Prince. It is also revealed that it was Prince Ji who saved Tingshen. Empress Yan loses her position as Empress and is exiled, while Prince Yu is imprisoned, waiting for his sentence. Prince Yu ultimately commits suicide.
