I'm dying...

...for Miho right now. I feel so bad for her. On one hand, Dae Woong is beginning to show his feelings, but on the other hand, she's being encouraged to disappear by Hye In and Dong Joo, for different reasons.

I'm really enjoying the relationship between the Director and Dae Woong's aunt. They are so cute and funny.

I can't wait to see whether Miho and Dae Woong will ever get to be happy and whether Hye In kissing Dae Woong will have greater effect than what we see at the end of the episode.

Great!

I really enjoyed the first episode of RM,PW...I'd not seen a j-drama in 6 months that I've wanted to watch until recently, and this one might just become my favorite Oguri Shun drama ever. I'm interested as to why she uses Chihiro and what her ultimate motive is in doing so.

An Interesting Drama

Beginners! reminds me a lot of Police Academy--a bunch of misfits who want to become police officers and are looked down upon by others for being unconventional, yet they conquer the odds against them.

Taipi shines here already. His character is very hilarious, even from the outset when he sings a song while riding a motorcycle.

Overall, this episode was good. We are introduced to the characters as well as informed about why this class is "special". I can't wait to see where this goes.

Asahina Needed to Be...

...left on a windswept crag as a child. Perhaps then he wouldn't have been able to be so diabolical. In my opinion, it's one thing to be pure evil and show it; it's quite another to be pure evil and hide it. That Asahina can get others on his side with a smile and a nod makes him a much more volatile villain.

Even though I don't like Yoko, I feel kind of bad for her in this case. Something she said in passing became the fuel of her brother's evil intentions. It just goes to show how powerful words can be.

I'm scared for Next Innovation and what it is to become. I hope that Asahina, the glasses guy, and Tohno get what's coming to them, and fast.

This drama has me begging for each new episode!

Crazy...

...yet so satisfying! Episode 5 totally delivered. I mean, we knew Asahina was bad, but to break your own foot in order to put a manipulation scheme in play...hardcore. What is his motivation for ruining Hyuga?

No more Yoko/Tohru please. She annoys me--she's supposed to be this chef who doesn't care what others think, yet she clings to Tohru like shrink wrap.

Makoto/Tohru...ftw.

I might just be...

...in love with this show. Onizuka is doing a great job, and in this episode we finally get to see a bit of his pervy side, which is the one thing (if there is anything at all) that I felt lacked with this new version.

I'm really enjoying how all of the characters have a distinct role that one can recognize, even if one doesn't know the name of the character yet. I super love the Director, whose really witty and funny in this version.

I can't wait to see what happens next!

Finally...

As if we haven't waited long enough for Kyung Joon to find out the big birth secret, we have to have it laid out to him in the most painful way possible--through another of Yeon Jae's shell's potential switchbacks.

I'm glad, though, that he finally knows. However, why did this drama decide at the 13th hour to make MaRi more than just her somewhat obsessive self? Prior to this episode, I've been able to tolerate her even if I think she's ridiculous. Now, though, she's getting on my last nerve. Her actions in this episode went beyond where I thought they would, and I'm not sure I like that.

Overall, it was an okay episode, despite the big reveal. Teddy Bear and Rabbit stole the show...again.

A Decent Episode...

...but not a great one. I do enjoy the romance between Toru and Natsui, but I felt this episode dragged a bit compared to the others.

The ending of the episode was it's strength, for sure. I'm glad Toru now trusts Natsui, and that the trio is back with him. I even like the new name of the company, WonderWall.

Asahina's arrest startled me; I expected something to happen to him, but I am unsure if he's the culprit here. I do think he should get some bad karma coming his way--he deserves it enough for ruining his friendship and the company.

Overall, it was a decent episode. It could have been better, but let's face it, the writers are probably setting us up for a great ending two episodes.

So Sweet!

Shimura kissed Momoe!!!!!! I'm squeeing since they were the two I've been shipping since day one.

Other things that happened in this episode only enhanced the nice feeling it gave. It's really the first episode that gave us a completeness in the friendships built within the class, since everyone is pretty much getting along now.

Now we know why Sakuraba-sensei is so protective of Teppei. It makes sense, and I'm glad that Teppei's father isn't guilty of killing that guy. I think the guy killed was Misaki's husband, and that the Director may actually be behind it.

I can't wait for the next episode!

An Inviting Episode...

...because it allows us to see the softer side of the female teacher, which I think is going to open up her character a little.

Also, this episode definitely pointed to a pairing, which, though expected, was a delight to see. I'm still interested in the plan which the Director has for Teppei and the rest of the "S" class.

This is Probably...

...my favorite episode of the series so far. It FINALLY gave Fuyutsuki some room as a character. We got to see her weaknesses and her resoluteness in being a teacher (after Onizuka threw her in the water and gave her a few choice words, of course).

The part that influenced me the most, though, had to be her apology to Kujirakawa. That moment, for me, is the best moment of the series. The fact that Takimoto, as Fuyutsuki, actually exposed her undergarments to prove a point was not only bold, but powerful.

My eyes were welling because I felt this episode covered a very heavy topic--body image--and made it relevant. It also dealt with obsession and how one deals with it.

I can't wait for the next episode. The preview has me jumping up and down already.

The Plot Thickens...

...as Mari figures out that Kyung Joon is in Yeon Jae's body. It was interesting to have Mari figure it out first (with the exception of Da Ran). It fits with her character; as the girl who will do just about anything (including throwing chairs to break into houses, evidently) to find out details about Kyung Joon, I felt it a nice touch to have her be the deducing one.

Da Ran?s character has become more tolerable to me since the time-skip. I didn?t like how dependent she was on Yeon-Jae, and now, sans Yeon-Jae glasses, Da Ran seems more level-headed than before. That doesn?t mean I?ll always like her, but I?m more invested in her character now.

I cannot wait to see how the conflict of Kyung-Joon being in the body of the man Da Ran least wants to see will play out, and what measures Se Young and Evil Mom will go to next.

Ooooh...new (old) faces?

I'm so excited for this show, although I thought the Tae Seo suddenly comes out of the illusion was a bit ridiculous.

However, I have to make something very clear. No matter how I feel about Cheong Jo's lack of acceptance of Kang Chi (it's obvious that I dislike her), but to say that she deserved to be raped is disgusting and foul, as disgusting and as foul as the villain and Cheong Jo's rejection.

Now that I've got that out, I'm interested to see if my theories are correct about our new (old) faces and their connection to our story. Also, I can't wait to see more romance between Kang Chi anf Yeo Wool, with a little bit of snarky Gon thrown in for good measure.

Teary-eyed with Both...

...sadness (at the elderly woman's plight) and righteous anger on the part of Shimura toward Sakuraba and by extension, the police in general.

I can't wait to see what will happen now that another teacher has decided to take Shimura on as a trainee.

Motivating and Cute at the Same Time

Episode 7 of Beginners!, like its predecessors, gives that motivating feeling--the one that makes you want to get off your butt and do something to change your own life.

Here, we see the less athletically talented members of the "S" class do this very thing, and it makes their success that much sweeter.

We aren't lacking in cuteness either. The awkward glances between Shimura and Momoe portray that puppy-love like feeling despite the overall theme of not giving up. I wonder how much more awkward it might become because of Nijima's confession!

Lastly, this episode touched on something that I felt was covered in earlier episodes but examined less in the last couple--the relationship of the Director to Shimura's father's situation. We know Sakuraba was Shimura's student, and that Sakuraba knows something concerning the director. Despite the lack of dialogue, the Director's creepy smile at the end told a lot. I have a feeling that he's the real culprit--but what was his motive?
