Amidst a SLOW storm of Love

I'm giving it 7.5/10 for the independent and talented FL who carved her own career and made her own choices. BUT it should have been no more than 25 eps, not 30. The ML spoke as if every word took a year off his life AND he took a year to say every.single.word .

3-4 minutes of screentime for maybe 10 words of dialog between the OTP was the norm. It was excruciating. One of them says like 3 words, 90 seconds later, the other one replies with a single word. Rinse and repeat. It's a testament to how much the pairing pulled me that I stuck it out. That and the actual snooker, which I loved seeing. Had the Drama been 25 instead of 30, with the leads communicating at normal human pace, and without the the FL's constant coquettishness, it would have got a 9 from me

Loved the Series

This series was made for binge watching. I don't think I could have watched it on a weekly basis because there were too many back stories, twists and turns that would be disconnected and confused. I am glad this is an old series so I didn't have to to wait for new episodes twice a week.

In episode two I didn't follow why the ML acted in such a drastic way. Unfortunately, that wasn't explained until a much later episode. I think the writers should have explained that clearly much earlier. I understand the reason may have been to create suspense and questions, but as a viewer I limited in what I can carry in my memory with so many new developments and characters.

I just finished watching a different series with the same ML 2024. I was interested in comparing how he carried off both parts. He shows a poker-faced innocence in his character (or is this just how the actor is in real life). In this series it goes far in protecting his character's cover. His demeaner made it hard to make any kind of assumptions about what he was thinking and I was very surprised when he started in with the martial arts. In the 2024 series I just finished, the actor portrayed an a guy who couldn't lie. His face was fuller (more baby-faced) and portrayed the same innocense in his character. I didn't expect him to be so romantic; seemed clueless but he wasn't at all.

I loved Episode 16 because there is no hint of rushing to wrap up anything in the story lines; all were satisfying. The couple who took the church money in the first episodes, actually the female partner learned the male partner took off with all of the money and left her without anything. Those two gradually show up again after episodes pass and meet up. My favorite interaction between them takes place in Episode 16 where they discuss why he seems to keep switching sides. Then when she brings him to the clandestined meeting her justification is priceless. At the end I'm asking, "Are they up to their old ways or have they gone straight," and chuckle to myself.

Finally, Consistency!

Wow, what a masterpiece! No unnecessary romance, solid plot, excellent writing, superb directing, and spectacular acting. The series stayed true to its genres of suspense, mystery, and thriller. It took me a while to start watching this, and now I'm sad it's over. It will be a while before I find another K-drama this excellent. I definitely recommend it if you’re into thriller, crime drama, law, mystery, and suspense.

so far so good

I feel some fans of the JP adaptation are just not giving this a fair chance at all even with one ep airing. Please for the people that have watched the JP adaptation, that this is based on the manga so there is going to be more shown. Myself am adoring the show so far. I found the first ep solid and think the acting from both Gemini and especially fourth have been great so far. Also, imo, the directing so far has been great as well. plus we don’t even need to talk about chemistry between Gemini and Fourth. I am also loving the side actors. they also have been good so far as well. can’t wait to see more

Like many I was intrigued when I first saw this on Netflix’s what’s next video showing all of this years releases and considering it had all my favourite elements (supposedly), rich kid problems, school setting, bullying etc, I was seated. That was until I actually tuned into this disaster. It starts out promising with great cinematography and a good premise but half of the storylines set up get side tracked for a very useless and boring romance plot which you are not expecting whatsoever. Depressed expressionless fml with ‘troubles’ that means she has to push everyone away despite being offered help by her super rich bf which he probably could’ve resolved and saved us about 5-6 episodes. Despite being involved in the killing of the ML’s brother we spend almost the entire show being forced to feel bad for her (which I still don’t f her) because she has ‘anxiety’ … give me a break. So much anxiety it takes the ML trying to seek revenge for her to finally say something about her bf orchestrating some team of bullies to ‘show scholarship students their place’ which she has been watching happen this whole time. Now the ML has to be the most spineless person in this series which is ironic since he spent the entire series handing out empty threats to the adults for this very reason. Completely ruined the class presidents plans of teaching the SML and FL a lesson for their actions cause he stupidly lets his feelings get in the way (even though this girl was literally a contributing factor for his brothers death). Whole show is pretty much centred around this pathetic love triangle and sad girl FML instead of getting to the bottom of what happened to ML’s brother.

Also a random predator plotline which really holds no actual significance apart from in the last ep much like the explanation on the death of the twin brother. This show is just an aesthetically pleasing waste of time, if you are considering this thinking you’re getting sky castle or penthouse s1 kind of goodnes, think again.

This was a good watch. I didn't expect too much because of the rating says 8.6. But after finished the whole episodes, i found this series is enjoyable to watch. There's no unnecessary triangle love conflict between the main role, so the audience will not feel stressful about the romance-conflict.

I love how the BTS crew cast the actor for this series. Wu Qian is the perfect match for the character she plays in this drama. She got that "Fancy & Luxury" vibes effortlessly which suits best with Xiangyuan's character. This is the first Wu Qian's drama i watch, so my opinion is not subjective. Then we got Zhang Bin Bin as the counterpart of Wu Qian's acting. They're the perfect match for this drama.

I had been ready to drop this drama before Episode 10, but someone convinced me to hold on to this snooze fest.

My thoughts about this will be better depicted by the time my thumb spent on the FFWD button. Breakdown by episodic stages.

Ep 1 to approx Ep 5. I felt slightly giddy, like a kid at a candy store, looking at all the pastel colors and tasting all the sweetness. Time spent on the FFWD button: 0 seconds.

Ep 6 to approx Ep 10. I was getting used to the slight buzz that went from “Love at first sound” to “Hi, would you be my girlfriend, after just meeting you a few of times?” Time spent on the FFWD button, maybe 5 to 10 minutes.

Ep 11 to approx Ep 20. This is the stage where, in their minds, they say, “Yes, we are GF/BF but we are still afraid to hold hands and have our first kiss.” While I quip, “maybe sometime this century.” Time spent on the FFWD button: probably half the time, roughly translating to 3 to 4 hours. Mostly on the first of 3 or 4 prolonged trips with friends that do nothing to the plot but serve as contrived instances so they can shoot star eyes at each other.

Ep 21 to approx Ep 30. Well, they finally got their first kiss out of the way. What now? Let’s just skip to talk about marriage, shall we? Time spent on the FFWD button: I think my thumb is glued to it, roughly translating to 75% of the time.

Ep 31 to Ep 33. Whew, are you sure this drama is at the end of its ropes? No more squeezing in PDAs and prolonged contrivances so they can all couple up and tie the drama with a neat bow? Are you sure there are only three people in the cast who are doctors, who are also voice actors, and are also capable of other things, like maybe singing, cooking, painting, sound-editing, guitar-playing, and what else? And they also happen to be good-looking but perpetually single, even with all their amazing talents? Wow, such a shocker! Time spent on the FFWD button: almost 90% of the time, pausing just to watch the Farewell concert and to check whether Mo Qing Cheng has anything else up his sleeves, maybe to announce he’s also a Nobel Prize Winner who invented the Pill to cure everyone of their illness.

The plot is lacking a romance atmosphere. The story is only focusing on both personal/family matter of the main role till up to 27 episodes. No resolvement. I couldn't feel the romance development between Shen Juan & Yujing even until the second half of the total episodes.

Episode 1 - 5 got me excited to watch, but the rest episode is just too plain.

I kind of excited to watch this series because of the rating. 8.7 should be the standard of a great drama. But apparently 8.7 was just too overrated.

Maybe you guys voted this with a high rating since Linyi is the main role for this drama, but i found this overrated. Somehow i couldn't feel the chemistry between the main role in this series because the lack of the acting. Or maybe the characters just not suits the actor.

I just couldn'tt bear to watch the rest episodes :)

Very healing

The category healed again. Zhang Zhehan interpreted the broken August in his own way and healed August again, What a wonderful person. If it disappears, you can start and build again. What’s the big deal? Your works will last forever. Tibet is really a beautiful place. You must go and see it if you have the chance.

Gorgeous to look at but that's it **SPOILERS**

Hierarchy sets out to be a riveting tale of murder, mystery, luxury, and of course, romance. Unfortunately, it falls flat in every single one of those categories. To put it simply, Hierarchy wishes to mirror the early seasons of the Spanish drama Elite. So much so that I found myself drawing parallels between the two at nearly every corner from set design to characters. Now I'm in no way saying that Elite is heaps and bounds better but I will say Elite took its time with characters and at least for the first few seasons had a plot line to follow (can't say anything past season 4 I stopped watching as it become boring and redundant).

The biggest issue that I found with this show was there was quite literally very little plot just gorgeous actors and gorgeous scenes but nothing of substance. The dialogues felt generic and insignificant and everything kind of felt pieced together. We didn't see characters develop.

The story primarily revolves around 5 characters: Kim Ri-an (the main rich boy), Jung Jae-i (main rich girl Ri-an's ex/gf), Kang Ha (the protagonist?, "revenge" seeking boy), Yoon He-ra (Regina George, Jae-i bff?), Lee Woo-jin (confused very gorgeous, relatively insignificant boy, nice to look at). The main story pretty much only involves the first 3 with the last 2 kind of being there.

Character breakdown:
Essentially Kang Ha makes his way into this hyper-elitist high school as a scholarship kid in order to find justice for his dead twin brother while facing the discrimination of his peers. So to make a long story short he doesn't really do this. Instead, he falls in love with Jung Jae-i and cries. Sure he reported people to the cops and held people "accountable" but honestly this plot line, which is supposed to be the main plot imo, takes a back seat and we get a classic romance where Kang Ha plays the second lead to Ri-an. This would be fine if I cared about the characters. The problem with this whole show is I have no sympathy or affection for any of these characters. The whole cast could have faced a zombie apocalypse and passed away and my reaction would have been welp. Especially Kang Ha. He is the one I am supposed to be rooting for but I don't care enough for him. In fact he frustrated me the most. He repeatedly claims that these people killed his brother but does so little to portray that. There's a scene where Jae-i claims to have killed Kang Ha's brother and by the next scene, Kang Ha is still expressing his love for her. It just doesn't make sense for his character. You play the voice of reason, justice, yet people you like get a pass? Also, there is one scene where he essentially says "Jae-i, you're not like the other people here, you're nicer so I can't hurt you." I'm glad you feel this way but bro why? Because she shows you basic human decency that you could get anywhere else outside of this school? How do you know she actually treated your brother nice huh? Seems to me Kang Ha's ideology mirrors the school's, the same ideology he's been desperately trying to destroy this whole time: people you like or have an affiliation with will get a pass.

Jae-i is so boring she has so much happen to her but not a single reaction she is like a doll with one reaction. All she says is that she wants to protect Ri-an but why? Sure you find comfort in each other but I'm failing to understand why she couldn't have told Ri-an about her pregnancy. Like ya'll are billionaires figure it out. Not to mention earlier in the show it seemed that both families were happy about the potential merging of Ri-an and Jae-i's families. What motivation does Jae-I have to sacrifice herself? What is she protecting him from because his mother seems relatively submissive as long as Ri-an portrays a clean image? Also, I don't like how Jae-i is supposed to be the hand that saves the plebians. All she did was talk to Kang Ha's brother and after seeing him pass decided to help Kang Ha out of guilt. She is not different. She had years to treat the scholarship kids like people. She just feels guilty and is trying to ease that guilt. No better than Ri-an or the rest of the elitists imo.

He-ra was my favorite character. She actually had depth and reasoning to her character. Her motivations were clear and the actions she took made sense. For example, she went after Ri-an romantically not because she hated her friend but because she had to secure her father's business and supplement her inferiority complex. She is also the only one we see develop as a character as she goes from only valuing herself through wealth to eventually understanding the weight of her friendships. Also, the actress for He-ra had the best performance imo.

Woo-Jin was simply there to introduce the killer teacher (the one who actually killed Kang Ha's brother) and serve looks. His whole schtick is that he loves He-ra and can't tell her because He-ra is preoccupied with securing the bag and confessing to Ri-an. Honestly, I was more invested in He-ra and Woo-jin and sympathized with them much more than the other three characters because they felt human and had the potential to grow. The others stayed stagnant.

Overall the plot is predictable, the characters are generic, and the show moves extremely slowly even for only having 7 episodes as opposed to the typical 16. It's something that should be played in the background while you are doing something else. A decent watch to pass the time.

Questions:
Why was Kang Ha's brother recording stuff in the first place?

Things I liked:
-Set design/cinematography: very nice to look and and the shots were unique and fun to look at
-Cast: all are extremely gorgeous, doesn't have much to do with anything but they were gorgeous that's it. I also think they did a pretty decent job for what they were given acting-wise. Especially the Ji Hye-won (He-ra)
-Music: the title song was a bop, will be adding it to my playlist
-Fashion: the outfits were so cute omggg, love the elegant yet classy vibe
-Kim woo-Jin

Calm but powerful

After watching August, I was very moved. I regret that Xiaozhe's acting career was suddenly interrupted. From the whole documentary and his narration, it was really excellent and his lines were particularly good. This documentary in August resonated with me. I personally have a yearning for the snow-capped mountains. At the beginning, the scene of climbing the snow-capped mountains really shocked me. The world is vast enough for the next one. When I saw him standing on the streets of Shangri-La, there would be a connection
