During junior high school, she was a gifted student, and in high school, she served as the president of the dance club. In college, while participating in the recording of the variety show "Guess Guess Guess" on CTV, she was discovered by a modeling agency and began her career as a model. She subsequently appeared in print magazines, television commercials, music videos, and fashion shows.
In 2002, she participated in the filming of the music video "Rescue Hotline" by Vic Chou, and later she was discovered by the renowned producer Chai Zhi Ping, which led her to enter the entertainment industry. By December 2004, she released her first solo album titled "Love."
On April 26, 2007, Lai was appointed as the "VJC Tourism Goodwill Ambassador" by the Japanese Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. She served in this role for three consecutive years.
In 2008, Lai enrolled in the Master's Program in Design Management at Ming Chuan University as a part-time student and obtained her master's degree in January 2011.
