Xu Qingdong was a Chinese television director and screenwriter who is known as one of the few successful crime and medical procedural directors in China. His directorial works span from the 1980s-2014. He was born in 1945 in the United States and was brought back to live in Yan'an, China when he was two months old. His father was a Communist Party leader in America and his mother was a graduate of Columbia University.
