He debuted in 2008 as a member of XING, using the stage name Kipalang. The group had already debuted in 2006 but underwent many lineup changes and he entered as part of the 3rd generation and remained until late 2009 when the group disbanded.
In 2010, he re-debuted as the main rapper, main dancer and maknae of THE BOSS with the song “Admiring Boy” and then spent most of the year promoting in Japan before returning to South Korea in late 2011 as their agency followed a "Japan-first, Korea-later" strategy to market the group. They alternated promotions between both countries until 2015 when the agency went bankrupt and they had to return to XING Entertainment.
Since 2017, the group has barely promoted and have not released any new music but have never officially disbanded and he appeared in many musicals and theatrical plays in Japan and also earned as role in the Japanese remake of "Power Rangers Dino Force Brave" . In 2023, he appeared alongside In Jun and Karam in the survival show "Peak Time" to promote again as THE BOSS and managed to qualify to the 3rd round. However, during the competition, Karam was involved in a controversy when an anonymous person posted many old pictures of him smoking, dancing in night clubs and celebrating the birthday of a Japanese AV actress. To avoid any more negative attention, Karam decided to leave the show but In Jun and him had the option to remain competing, which they declined and all members left the show voluntarily. They are considering promoting again as THE BOSS.
