The Most Beautiful BL Building Story Ever

So where do i start with this masterpiece of a BL.

I came across it by accidents whilst searching for other BLs to watch since shamefully i have watched all possible Thai, Chinese and Korean BLs out there. I watched a few Pinoy but wasn’t too overjoyed so when i saw this and wasn’t interested but i was bored and ventured in. Needless to say this is the best BL to date that i have watched.

The story is beautiful and really brings out the challenges same gender relationships go through especially where you find one is confident already and another is yet to find his identify. There is a line i will always remember that Vlad says “i do not want to be the plotting device that triggers another person’s identity crisis” those are powerful words and no one definitely wants to be in that boat. Unfortunately whilst indeed Vlad ends up being the trigger for Karl’s identity crisis, Vlad however was not the one that pulled the trigger, his sister Judit pulled that trigger by cornering Karl. If she had let things be, I believe Karl would slowly as he was already would have come to accepting his feelings for Karl. That is another thing. I wished that they had focused on getting Karl to accept his feelings for Vlad rather than trying to make him accept he was gay. For someone who this was new too who barely just a day ago just kissed a guy, he should not have been asked to say that he was gay, but rather have been asked to explore his feelings for Vlad.

This is where it differs with the Thai BLs i have watched like #Sotus #TharnType amongst others was where the straight partner when asked if he was gay, they responded with saying it wasn’t about being gay but the fact that they feel in love and the person just happens to be of the same gender with them and some even went ahead to say that if it wasn’t that individual then it would not be anyone else. So i loved those focus on feeling something for another individual and not focusing on what the gender was. This was the problem with how they tried to out Karl, it should have been feelings first, especially ciallly considering he was likely effeminate, so he needed first to understand himself and deal with that before dealing with feelings or dealing with being gay.

This however was beautifully scripted. Vlad’ s voice very deep gave his character so much confidence especially since he spoke English 80% of the time, but Karl responds in Tagalog 80% of the time, it really brought so much freshness to their relationship. Every scene of theirs was simply beautiful without putting too much pressure on the viewers, it was a sweet, fun journey of two young boys. Ian played his role as Vlad wonderfully, from his outspokenness, too not being shy and encourage Karl not be shy. Paolo’s role as Karl was also on point, his nagging was frustrating though, sometimes i felt like shutting him out, but going through the story you could tag it just has internal frustrations with having to live his brother’s dream. I mean that is the most spiteful thing you could ever do to a child. One dies and you get the new one not only to wear his clothes, sleep in his bed, accept his dreams you even go as far as giving him his dead brothers name. Tragic in my opinion.

Let’s get to the supporting actors, were not like your regular supporting actors that you can ignore, they were 100% important in how this story not only developed, but infused the right emotions. I loved Judit and her “i am an ally” statement, I understood her stand as a sister, but felt she could have better managed trying to protect her brother when it came to facing Karl. I loved Anna, she was simply the life of the party in my opinion, quite hilarious to boot and whilst we only saw uncle Santi in episode 7 his acting was almost like we had seen him from the beginning. I mean when you look at it. So far the show only had 9 characters that we saw, but i only just realized that they were only 9 characters now, because their acting and scenes didn’t seem to lack anything. The production and oh please the music, soundtracks are super amazing, my favorite bathroom song now is “Ride Home” by Ben x Ben a beautiful song for a beautiful scene.

Overall i cannot complain hence why i gave it a 10. I am very criticizing when it comes to what i watch and asides from Untamed and Its Okay Not To Be Okay this is the only other show that has received a 10 from me and i think it’s worth it.

Hilarious as Hell

This is an extremely funny series. What drew me to it were the main characters as i loved them as Beer (in Oxygen) and King (my Engineer). This is just for relaxation and fun really and not your usual BL series. Very silly scenarios to look out for.

It’s more like watching Willy Wonka and the Cholocate Factory if you get what i mean but a BL formatted storyline. You have a Landlady (i think) that seems to change personality and this affects his/her mood and in the most ridiculous of ways and a bunch of weirdos as tenants whom i cannot begin to describe.

If Chemistry is your Thing Dont Watch

So there is not much to say, other than the rewatch value is almost zero. The series for me was a bore, whilst there might be a bias to this based on the fact that Earth and New are not my favourite BL actors. I still wanted to give it a try, but they're absolutely was no chemistry between them or most of the side couples. As a matter of fact, the only relationship i shipped (note i said relationship and not couple) were Klau and Achi. Klau and Achi were the sweetest things ever and that was majorly the only reason why i kept watching. The other characters for me was a meh and worst still some of the plots that i thought might have made it worth watching didn't happen. For instance, i was so looking forward to the Cinderella Lakorn and was utterly sad when it didn't happen after watching all the bore from episode one i finally had something i wanted to see and it didn't happen. Another was when they all went to Apo's place i was hoping for some fun amongst them or lengthy revelations and pretty exciting considering we had not had much and that again was a drawback.

Then we have Karn and Waii's dad, again another lack of chemistry there and this is something i have noted with Toptap's acting, he doesn't seem to gel well as a BL couple and i wonder why they keep trying to put him forward as one, maybe because he is beautiful to look at but he never seems to bring any chemistry to the screen either for me anyways.

For me i think the story was not bad, just that the acting and some of the cast were not just it for the role. i had no compassion for Wan and seemed to wish Min could be with someone else. I dont know maybe just me but the whole thing was just like wood in the mouth. You have a Nameng who likes Fah they push her through the entire episode to end up with Pan only for Pan to break-up with her 2 months down the line and end up with Fah. I just felt that was a waste of nameng's time and switch from wanting a guy to being forced to be with a girl and then going back to a guy.

Decide yourself

So here I am cracking my fingers because this will be the lengthiest review I have ever done so far on Dramalist and that's saying a lot. Whilst you might think it would be a positively driven one being the lengthiest its because the series gave a funny headache.

Where to start. The series is not bad and it's not good either. For the whole night I stayed up to watch it, my brain cells kept getting confused as to whether to die-out or freeze over. The story or plots are a disaster, however, it's a beautiful disaster once you can get past seeing Bakka's and other beauty product advertisements within the series each time because they portray as a normal scene and I am wondering what happened only for me to see the bag carryon bag and i am like here we go again. You could also try getting past Miss Becky, the Mary Poppins or should I say Fairy godmother wanna be, another going past would be Moira.... jeez I could kill that girl. at least in #TogetherWithMe Plernpleng was pretty and very crafty and calculative with her devious plans, but Moira here, should probably not have been in the show. I wanted her dead from ep1, then try getting past the unrealistic scenes (which for me if I was watching Korean or Chinese fantasies I would be fine with), but hey this ain't one of those so its annoying that Moira and dumber try to dognap and conveniently the guard to Ace's mansion (which is practically like a palace and should have better security systems by the way or more than one guard), is sleeping and the strong sliding gate is open. I mean where does that actually happen that he leaves the gate open in the middle of the night and dozes off as if expecting the nappers, what I smelt there were the girls not being able of course to jump the high gate so the script had to leave it open for them. Yet I come back to the fact that whilst want can weirdly try to appreciate that Ace sees his dogs more like children, but what's with the dognapping to get revenge.

Moving on, on things to get past is Shy's dad, he was practically in a mind limbo for most of the series and was wondering if there was any need to have included him in the first place. You probably would also need to get past Aki's acting of Ace, his expressions were borderline puke worthy because they were not necessary, you know that expression "crying more than the bereaved"? he was the king. Very dramatic when rushing Sky to the hospital for his allergy. I think his acting skills with regards to that needs more improvement. Then let's visit another thing getting past. Sky's drunken state, both times in the earlier part of the series he was drunk, not only did Ace become overly dramatic but also Sky's brother Ken and his mum at some point I felt they were treating his drunken state like he had malaria and were fawning over him in ridiculous ways.

But you know what amidst the weird scenarios and poor acting I did enjoy a few things:
1. the chemistry between Sky and Ace, both as friends and as boyfriends
2. the steamy hot scenes of course
3. for some weird reason I loved Sky's brother Ken and Sky's mum they made the family time worth looking forward to. Sky's mum is just a bundle of awesomeness
4. I loved Jelai's interactions with jam even though some might say its borderline harassment it was cute

So whilst at every episode, I kept questioning why I was watching it and kept face palming myself for stressing my brain cells, I still enjoyed it in a silly way. The plots honestly could have been better. Welcome ep8 Ace invites Sky to join him for a client meeting (meanwhile anytime they go for client meetings Sky is always on casual wears), but this time he wears a suit, gets to the venue sees a dreamy set-up and does not ask questions, Ace reaches out his hands he takes it and then they spend some dumb minutes chatting and feeding themselves and I was like "hello"... because even if yes Sky likes Ace, i would still have expected him to have asked where is the client and whats with this set-up guess what he asks after they were done with their playing and feeding. So really I don't know what to say. One puke worthy moment i will not forget that probably would have landed me in the hospital since i was on the treadmill while watching was episode 10 Ace's birthday scene from when Sky talked till the end of their dance. The dance scene was reminiscent of a cinderella setting with a superman ost feel and a room full of Fujoshies. the scene made me dry heave to the point i bent my head down forgetting i was on a treadmill.

Worst still for me is that this is a 2020 series I expected more from the actors and the plots, but then again i have practically watched all Thai, China, Japanese and Korean BLs and just came across this. Again like i said okay to watch for the first time won't probably watch another time and if you are going to watch, try getting a bandaid for your brain cells and also sun shades if you can spare to block out some scenes. Otherwise enjoy

I feel in love with BL because of this

I have loved this right from 2gether to this one and most say i loved every single moment of it. I have rewatched the series too many times that i can count and loving it still. Favorite iconic scenes for me:
Snack games between Wat & Tine
When Tine agreed to be Wat’s boyfriend
When they moved in together both times
When Wat gets on the stage to sing
When they watched the Scrubb concert together
Wat’s teasing Tine’
Wat being the make-up cleaner and telling the makeup artist to leave Tine’s face
When Wat confessed finally to Tine after leaving Mil
Wat telling Tine on the phone how he would miss him and talking about how Tine behaves and Tine behaved same way on the background.

So many scenes. Reason why i didn’t give this a 10/10 was i would have loved to see Tine give more in terms of love to Wat. Wat was the one with the show of love. Only time i really got the sense that Tine loved Wat was when Wat was away practicing at P’Dim’s and could not leave and Tine confessed how he missed Wat not knowing Wat was there and also at the end when he played for Wat and really allowed the kiss to happen. Else it was more Wat all the time.

The series for me is sweet from start to finish and should not be compared to the WHY R U, TharnType’s of this world because their’s was sweet love and not intense.

Simply Amazing

So i must say that I have watched pretty much all the top Thai BL dramas and whilst the story might be weird in some cases the story of #Fightor was simply mind blowing for me. I have not experienced their particular type of relationship in all the BLs i have watched. I do often say that even with #TharnType had it not being for Techno i probably might not have watched it much, because I didn’t like some of the attributes of the series main characters.

1. Fight & Tutor
I could write a book or do another movie on their story. For me it was beautiful in the subtle ways that Zee captured and communicated his emotions and feelings with his eyes, breathing, stares. I felt everything. I loved that he wasn’t brash except maybe for the scene when he barged in on Tutor because of the pretense Tutor put up about taking a younger student as the reason for the break-up and that anger i could understand because he was expressing his pain and i felt that pain from the moment Tutor said he should keep his promise and he asked Tutor to stops teasing him. For me Fighter was a sweetheart and was able to balance his dominant nature with his display of affection.

Tutor hmmmmmm....... i was so happy that Saint handled this role in a way that did not make him the typical pushover bottom. He didn’t allow Fighter to just get away with anything he wanted, he questioned, he asserted himself and honestly i loved that so much compared to his role as Pete in “Love by Chance”. I loved his role hear as Tutor it exposed more of what is baby looks was capable of and his maturity in dealing with things. Probably the only thing i was against was him not telling Fighter about the Dad’s threat. I mean they had just recently connected with themselves and suddenly you say lets break-up and even for me as a viewer i was confused, hurt and emotionally distraught because i felt that even if he was going to break-up with Fight, Fight at least had the right to know why. Fight was left thinking and wondering like a crazy person as to what the reason could be even willing to change whatever it was. That was just my only problem that for someone as wise as they claimed Tutor to be he could have mentioned why he couldn’t be with him anymore. But again that’s me nitpicking.

In conclusion this couple’s chemistry for me was brilliant, it was sweet like the moment when he brought Tutor back to the apartment to take care of him after the breakup and Tutor told him to stay a while and not leave. That was so sweet for a couple who were also extremely passionate and intense when it came to love making. The way Tutors expression goes when he is playing with Tutor and he nods his head up. Everything was just too much. Tutor being the Alpha wife but not violent like “Type” of #TharnType. Honestly if you don’t watch anything else watch the #Fightor scenes.

2. Saifah & Zon
There scenes for me were more for laughs to be honest. The way Zon kept freaking me out was freaking me out. At a point i didn’t even know what was real or not. I had to watch the entire series to understand if them meeting up together to purchase the pick was not a dream because the day before it was still a fight and all of a sudden it was an invite to get a pick and they were sharing ice cream and Saifah paying for stuff like a sugar daddy at that point i felt it was a dream and even Sai was confused when he tried kissing him at some point and Zon snapped him off and Sai had to ask if he was bipolar because clearly Zon had been acting like he was fine with what they could become. So whilst the acted their part well, i could not relate to their romance except for when it was comical. The only time I appreciated their romantic gestures was in the last episode when they made promises to each other

Saifah: i will have only you
Zon: i will give in to only you

That scene was amazing mainly for me because of the lines. It was sweet.

3. Other Couples
Don’t even get me started the only side couple i was attracted to was Japan and Tai. Their interactions was weird with Tai being clingy always and Japan always taking about 3 mins of more to process what Tai was doing. It was adorable and funny and I always looked forward to it. I didn’t very much enjoy the other couples. It was weird for me that it wasn’t up to 5 mins that Hawa and Fight spoke and broke-up (whatever their relationship was) and she immediately was kissing Fight’s friend that was not right.

Whilst i also have accepted now that 90% BLs is (borrowing Type of #TharnType motto) “you get what your hate” i really would have preferred if Blue ended up with Champ rather than with Dew (except if that was a dream) because like i said some things were confusing. All in all my high rating is based on the characters #FighTor I loved it and have watched the series probably 5 times
