This film alone made Sawajiri Erika one of my favorite actors of all time. She was marvelous!
On the surface this movie is a story of a girl who gets eaten up by her own vapid/shallow desires. If you're willing to take a deeper look it's a comment about society. The film-makers and actors have crafted a masterpiece of a psychological thriller that explores the darkness of a world where the lights are always on but, no one is really home. The world of Helter Skelter is a place where everyone is a villain and yet everyone is a victim.

A word to the wise this is not for people with delicate sensibilities.

If you see no other action drama in your life YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS ONE!
I started watching this drama as it was airing last year and I can honestly say despite not knowing anyone in the cast it had my interest as soon as I saw the trailer. The cast is FANTASTIC! Every actor played their part amazingly. There wasn't a single episode (except maybe the first one) where I wasn't on the edge of my seat to find out what happens next. Jung Kyung Ho is solidified as one of my favorite drama actors of all time! I can't say too much because even a little gives a lot away. I will say however that there is an alternate ending to the show (which I personally liked better than the aired one!!) so be sure to check that out.

BE WARNED! This film is NOT for the faint of heart, or those easily disturbed by sex/rape/abuse etc.

Let me start off by saying that the acting in this movie was pretty fantastic. It was great enough that I actually felt bad for Jan Dara's circumstances and at times was rooting for him to get out of his messed up life. It was also good enough that I despised pretty much his entire family to the point where I didn't see how he could treat them so well (sans a few pretty disturbing scenes toward the ending of the film that I won't discuss because it will spoil it for you). What I will say is that the story of Jan Dara and his screwed up slice of crazy he calls family; is pretty disturbing. For a movie where A LOT of sex takes place there probably isn't a single scene that seems sensual or enjoyable at all. You see Jan Dara grow for a little boy born into horrible circumstances grow to become the the spitting image of the man he hated most; if not worse than him. This film is like a train wreck; it's gruesome and gut wrenching and yet you can't look away!

First and foremost, as a kpop fan I would be lying to you if I told you that my interest in this film wasn't purely because of TOP's involvement. As a huge fan of Big Bang I'd been hearing about this film since he was cast as the lead role. So finally when I got an opportunity, (thanks to Netflix) to see it I was thrilled. That being said I feel that Dramalist's synopsis of the film is lacking, the short blurb at the top of this page doesn't even scratch the surface of this movie's storyline. I don't want to give to much away because I personally feel that a lot can be spoiled with a review that goes into too much detail. What I will say is that, if you're reading this, don't be scared away by the negative reviews. Anyone who says that this film is 'too all-over the place' obviously doesn't understand that, that is actually the point. "Commitment" takes place during 2011 which is during the time frame that power was shifting in North Korea due to the death of it's totalitarian dictator Kim Jung-Il. The chaos in the film is entirely on purpose to symbolize the kind of chaos that the two Koreas were going through as a result of this shift in power.
Anyway, not to make this too long. TOP did a phenomenal job, this is the first time in his acting career that he's played a complex character and I was pleasantly surprised how well he did. This film is VERY action packed and by the climax of the story I was on the edge of my seat cheering for him. I will also say that this is a tear-jerker with a body count! I lost track of the deaths at 8! Overall I give it a 10 out of 10.

I'm not going to lie. I knew within the first ten minutes of the drama (once I saw the villain played by Sasai Eisuke) that it was going to be kind of cheesy but I figured I'd give it the benefit of the doubt. Oomasa Aya, Honda Tsubasa, and Hiraoka Yuta are all fairly good actors but I felt like there wasn't much they could do to keep my interest. I held out until episode 3 but by the ending I was no longer interested. However! one thing this drama definitely had was quirky humor. The side characters played by Tomiura Satoshi and Eguchi Noriko ended up becoming my favorite of the show for their back and forth banter. The plot had potential, the actors were decent and it had some nice humorous sections. There were times (in the three episodes I watched) where I actually kind of enjoyed the show, but all together I couldn't get past it's major flaws.

This was my first Tawianese drama ever . When I saw it come up as a suggested title on Netflix I figured I'd give it a try. What I will say is that I'm now a big fan of the Blue, Joe and Roy. This drama was pretty amazing. My first thoughts were less than impressed purely because I HATED the title theme for the show. A lot of other people liked the track but personally I felt it made the show seem cheezy. Anyway, despite my dislike for that particular song. The show has a great soundtrack. I loved the ending theme from the very first episode. The aunt and uncle in this show are hilarious!! The little brother is absolutely annoying, but Blue and Joe have some SERIOUS on screen chemistry. After episode two I was hooked. This drama is hilarious, tragic and heartwarming. Despite some superficial flaws (example: in a few scenes her grandmother's hair is literally BLUE not grey) this drama was great! After watching it I've started looking into other dramas from Taiwan.
