On Min Jae's birthday, his lover Geon Woo book a restaurant. It was Hyun Soo, the former lover of Min Jae and Chef who appeared in front of the two people at the restaurant. Although the two pretend they don't know each other, a strange atmosphere emerges between the three. (Source: Vimeo) Edit Translation

The premise started out great and we see the dynamic between the characters, it was not overdone or totally subdued, so there is enough nuance in the story if you read between the lines. Despite being amateurs, the cast delivers a performance that made the characters believable. Cinematography is a plus also and the director took conscious care of the film's rich surroundings despite being in a small random cafe/resto.

The only drawback in the short film is that it left more questions than answers. Although there are moments of clarity, the film introduces elements that are out of whack: like what is the significance of mentioning that of all the days that the scheduled chef broke his arm is the day that Min Jae shows up with the new boyfriend, is it supposed to be a fate-inspired meeting or was it deliberate? Why did Min Jae ask a random question to Geon Woo to see if he truly likes him?

Maybe the true purpose of this film is to make people question their current and past relationships that fall into a cycle, as Noona says, of getting to know each other and once this phase over, moves onto the next.
But despite the average review, I will still encourage supporting the titles coming out from this small production studio. (Strongberry on Vimeo)

Another eye-catching Korean short film deals with breakup and new relationship as it is in life itself. Very solidly played, sound and processing at a level. Among other things, I appreciate the fact that the film does not deal with the issue of homosexuality as a controversy, "something" bad, but as a normal part of human life. I'm not at all surprised why ŠK+Susannah came to like Korean production.
