A sweet, realistic drama!

Just finished watching it and oh my god! it's rare to see a drama that shows the sober sweetness of daily life so well! This drama stand out from other idol dramas in many ways. You'll relate to it, you'll feel the emotions of the characters, and you'll have a taste of the bitter sweetness of life. The drama shows the problems that many couple face in real life, and it shows a love story so compelling that you'd WANT to fall in love.

The acting is really good! The entire cast has done an incredible job in adding depth to their character, and the production team did a fabulous job creating a classic masterpiece. And this is my unbiased opinion. Though it was shot in 2019, the cinematography is timeless, doesn't feel old.

Moving on to the OSTs, I just wanna say, listen to the songs yourself. Both Xiao Zhan and Yang Zi add a nice touch to the main OSTs, and the bgm score is topnotch.

Honestly, you wouldn't want the drama to end, at least I didn't!

You can not miss this Romantic drama!!!!

Before watching this play, I have known Xiao Zhan and Yang Zi. I have seen Xiao Zhan's "The Untamed", "Joy of Life" and "Douluo Continent" on WeTV. He has excellent performances in these three plays. Therefore, I am also deeply attracted by him. This time, Gu Wei is a character Xiao Zhan has never tried. The difference is that this is a modern drama. I have hardly seen Xiao Zhan play a modern drama before. He has always been in ancient costume, so I feel very fresh and give me more surprises.

Yang Zi is also a lovely girl. In this play, her acting skills are very real. Especially, when his father got sick, her crying deeply infected me. Behind the scenes, Yang Zi is also a very lively girl. She often brings joy to the people around her. I also like her very much!

and this is a very healing drama. Lin Zhixiao fight for her dream and gain love. The relationship between her and her father is also very subtle. In fact, her father loves her very much. Gu Wei has his own mission as a doctor, but there has always been a shadow in his heart, which makes him unable to operate normally. When Gu Wei and Lin Zhixiao met, it seemed that these difficulties were solved. The two of them healed each other and eventually got married and had children. This play is very warm and sweet. Highly recommended!!!

Stupid drama ? sorry.

Dumbest drama I've ever seen !
And yet I watched series from different nations of Asia, Europe, Americas... from different eras, from black & white to color videos.

Comprehension, Image, Aura & Charisma, are the most important things in front of the camera.
Yang Zi & Xiao Zhan's eyes and expressions reflect 0 intelligence and 0 emotion in their interpretation, as in the official photos of 《The Oath Of Love》.

The job of an actor is to play characters that seem as realistic as possible.
That is to say : to participate in the scenario, give maturity to the dialogue, make it meaningful.

Physically and orally, Yang Zi resembles a young thirtysomething who wants to pretend to be a twenty-year-old but fails.
Xiao Zhan clearly doesn't have acting ability, he feels no empathy.

None of them have personally researched on the thoughts and talks of real doctors, shy students, families dealing with illness, depressed people & couples with an age gap.
However easy with such a simple scenario.

Only the OST were good.

I understand why it took Tencent nearly 3 years to release 《TOOL》.
When the quality is low, there is no rush.

Luckily, Tencent proceeded to do real auditions, & caught up in 2023 with its great science fiction series :
-《Three-Body》.
And that Chinese gem series like :
-《Reset》;
-《Minning Town》;
-《Tian Xia Chang He》;
-《A Lifelong Journey》;
-《Joy Of Life》;
-《The Knockout》;
-《Under The Skin》;
-《Our Times》;
-《Bright Future》;
etc... exist.

I still wish good luck to all the cast ?.

Most emotional drama

First heard of this drama through YouTube MarcusHere! I am a fan of Yang Zi so Prior to its release i added to my viki watchlist, upon its release, I watched with eng subs on viki.The storyline real touch on a sensitive topic in an empathetic way showing all sides; i was not disappointed. As usual Yang Zi portrayal of an emotional character was on point. She plays a student falling in love for the first time while battling family challenges. The chemistry between the ML and FL were so on point i cried laugh and shared their embarrassing times. I have already watched each episode twice and the final episode was released yesterday. I would definitely watch again.

Hit all the points but leaves something lacking

Such a highly anticipated drama with a great cast but leaves you feeling a little disappointed. But it could be that the drama was too hyped that it sets expectations too high as well.

After three years of wait, this drama finally aired! Love the cast, Yang Zi and Xiao Zhan. They act out the characters really well and the details are done really well. Although I prefer them in Xianxia dramas, they still did a great job with all the emotional scenes here. Not to mention how handsome Xiao Zhan is. There are those moments every episode where Gu Wei would smile in a way that just melts your heart and you HAD to go back just to relive the moment. However, personally, I found that the storyline lacks character development. Gu Wei and Gu Xiao had some development but the rest didn't feel like they had any. I feel that the characters had so many moments where character development could be showcased but was just glossed over :( The female characters frustrated me from point to point with their attitude and just their point of view. The side characters had so much screentime but it didn't feel like they did much to the show nor did they shine as well.

The first 15+ episodes were great. The storyline was strong. The characters were charismatic and very interesting to watch. The chemistry between the leads was so good and the strong family ties were very sweet to watch. However, the storyline thins as it continues and felt very shallow. There wasn't much to look forward to and I found that the pace was too slow or fast at times. The first portion made me really look forward to the next episode while I found myself skipping through the 30+mins long episodes towards the end.

This is a very weird feeling as I really love Xiao Zhan and Yang Zi and their relationship is so cute. At points, you will find yourself giggling as the characters ooze with their love for each other. However, the storyline is rather flat so I don't find it tugging my heartstrings or feeling for the characters. :(

In all, it feels like they ticked all the boxes like great acting and a nice storyline but somehow lacking in a way that gets you hooked. Although it is not the best, I would still recommend it as the relationship is really great and Xiao Zhan and Yang Zi on screen just makes you feel good. Great as an eye-candy, relaxing show but don't get your expectations too high with the hype.

An enjoyable drama

Its been a while since i last watch a drama while its airing., and i finally finish watching this drama. It is quite enjoyble watch, here are some of my thoughts for the characters in this drama

Lin Zhi Xiao/ Gu Wei
My first thought for Xiao xiao was no good as i thought she was loud and quite rude and i couldnt understand why she keep call her mum "Mdm Li", its not like how she got used to calling her dad "Teacher Lin". However, i witness her growth throughout the drama, how she went from childish to mature when she found out her dad's sickness and finally understood her dad doesnt want her to cry for him in the last moment.
As for Gu wei, he looks very cold on the outside but he deeply cares for all his patients and is willing to risk his reputation in order to save them, that might not be a good thing since as a doctor, he invest too much and if he is not able to save the patient, he will blame himself more. He might look confident, but he is quite insecure and thought if he hides his problems from his love ones, he is protecting them but in fact hurts thrm more, im glad he has learn to open up more and is willing to talk it out. Together as a couple, they fit each other

Xiao San/Gu xiao
San san was very arrogant at the beginning and dint trust easilly. She gives grief to Gu Xiao a lot of times, and with having these two as friends/sibling, who needs enemies, they might not have caused the misunderstanding between FL and ML, however they add oil to it. Gu Xiao is your typical rich boy but found his match in San san, he genuinely fell but her, he has good intentions but in the end when he messed up, he runs away instead of confronting it. I can see San San slowly accepts Gu xiao as a good person instead of just a playboy. In the end, she choose to forgive him and i really admire how independent she can be and find ways to solve a problem instead of crying a river over it. I do think they fit well together and given time, they would make a good match.

Yin xi/ Jin Shi
Honestly i think this 3rd couple is so unnecessary and theres not really any growth especially for Yin xi, she still doesnt aknowledge that she is too controlling towards her boyfriend and still thinks shes completely innocent. Im glad after they broke up, they did not reconciled, as this relationship is too toxic. However, Jin shi can be seen still having feelings for Yin xi and try hard to compromise, if they do get back together in the future, hopefully Yin xi will matured more by then.

Gao xi/ Shao jiang
Both of this love rivals have one thing in common which is not accepting the one they love might not love them back at all. Gao xi insist since she grew up with Gu wei, she would end up with him even after countless hints from ML not showing any interest at her at all. She was only force to give up after ML spells it out for her that he doesnt feel that way for her. Im glad in the end, she has finally accept and move on, hopefully she will start to realize there might be someone else who mighy be interest in her. As for Shao jiang, he was such a stalker in the beginning with how he secretly taking photos of the FL's father medical records and also not accepting FL might not feel the same way until she directly tells him that was she feels for him is not romantic love. He also accepts theres someone else that is willing to sacrifice to be with him.

Lin Jian Guo
He is the typical chinese father who thinks being strict towards his daughter is loving her instead of the normal way of saying i love you or hugging. He would rather lose his temper than explain what he really was thinking. However it is clear as day that he really loves his daughter , and is willing to do anything for her. In this case, action does speak louder. He wrote letters for his daughter to read for seven years even after he eas gone, really sad that he was unable to hold his grandchild.

These characters does makes the drama more interesting and all of the actors did a very good job in potraying them and i am glad it was able to aired after 2 years. Would recomend watching it.

23/03/2022: Ep 1! I've been pretty excited for this, I spotted it like a while back and it looked really interesting. Took a good while for this to come out, but it's finally out! -

After finished watching Ep 1: and you know what, I like it! - Definitely interested to see how the story goes, and there seems to be a lot of characters in it at the moment!

Finished: 5/4/2022
I pretty much ended up binge watching this, but I don't know what version I was watching but I finished it at Ep29 not Ep32?

Overall, Honestly! I think the pace of the story was pretty interesting! I think I laughed the most near the start of the episodes, when Dr. Gu & Lin Zhu Xiao would just be soo awkward with each other! Which just made the scenes super funny too watch! I did think some things they did as a couple were quite cringe, but at the same time cute! Because I actually think they both really suit each other!

I did think her friends were a little random though, The whole time Iwas watching it I had no idea what age anyone was! - All I knew was Dr. Gu was like 31? and then Lin Zhu Xiao was, since she was only in college, I'm guessing she was about 25 or younger? And when San San and her other friend would give her advice on the relationship, I felt was just soo random. So they definitely must be kinda young.. But then even at that age you're not THAT clueless?

And their own storyline felt kinda like up in the air! - Like there wasn't really a story! They just had to be extras on the show to make them have friends.. They were all soo randomly clueless and just would make all the matters worse! But then again, this is a drama, who wouldn't have any of these random misunderstandings.

But I think what made me a little annoying was Lin Zhu Xiao, and how clueless she was, and she was a little childish at times! But I think as I watched the episodes to near the end, she grew on me and she became more and more mature which then I started to enjoy the storyline of them both more!

But I had a love/hate relationship with this drama, some episodes I loved and some episodes I didn't really like and just wanted to skip over and see what happens next!

Firstly, I think what I loved is the family aspect of things! That no matter what we should cherish all the time we have with our families, because this life isn't long! And no one is getting younger. It did get quite emotional.. Even remembering some of the flashbacks and memories made me tear up a little bit.

I also do think, when I watched the last episode it really fast forwarded super quick! Like 7years.. Actually thinking about it, even him asking her to to get married was quite like out of the blue and like super rushed.

But you know overall! I did enjoy it, super emotional and some things were a little predictable as well! But the good looking Dr. Gu made up for it! - I do wish they were both able to go to Germany! I'd love to have seem them go and experience that together. But you know, I guess I did enjoy it at the end!

A beautiful drama with an awesome plot and conveys all types of emotions

Wow, I've never written a review but I really wanted to recommend this to people so here goes...

This drama focuses on the topics romance, family, growing up and friendship. It was one that made me cry tears of joy and also ugly cry tears of sadness, but most importantly cuz the story and their acting, as well as the script (in chinese) was super touching. The OSTs and background music all helped convey the emotions as well. The comedic elements were also nicely done, not too little, not too much, the perfect amount of comedy for a lighthearted drama with the themes of romance, family and personal growth.

At first, some of the characters' actions and thoughts were quite immature, but I'm so glad their growth was shown really well through the drama. All the events and hardships they've been through shaped their new personalities and their character growth. Their growth was gradual and you could see why they grew up, instead of just suddenly changing overnight like in some other Cdramas.

Cdramas often have quite unrealistic plots, but this one is super super realistic, which was probably one of the elements that made the drama secure its place in my heart.

The acting though. All the actors and actresses were so professional and their acting was just *muah* chef's kisses. Even the director was touched by their acting and had watery eyes behind the camera.

This really is a must watch for all young adults and teens out there. From the themes covered, to the music, to the cast and most importantly the storyline, this drama will sure touch the hearts of many. If you are debating whether or not to place this drama on your bucket list, DO NOT HESITATE!!!!! I assure you that watching this drama will be one of the best decisions of your life. MUST MUST MUST MUST WATCH!!

So worth the watch! Definitely a new classic for me.

Just finished! Awww I cried so much through the last few episodes. Grips your heartstrings for real! The director and story writer did a fantastic job with the ending. The ML and FL on point. I love them both so much. Chemistry out the roof especially from XZ side. So much talent from all the main characters mainly the parents and lead couple. The theme song is beautiful- I can’t believe they sang it.
Pros: Very well produced. Cinematography and editing are on point. Acting is top notch. I love XZ and YZ together. Great paring. So many realistic elements - not much like a normal romantic cringe drama at all in my opinion. Very refreshing to see that. They have flaws, problems, and embarrassing moments and some don’t get fixed. That’s life! I appreciate the realistic feel to the whole show. Music score is great! Especially the theme song and the song they played with the little band group. Definitely a rewatch. SFL and SML were not completely psycho thankfully! The love triangle was manageable. I hate hate hate love triangles. Not many dramas have normal second leads so this was also refreshing. They actually stood up to their controlling parents while still being respectful. Amazing! 10 stars just for that! I felt like I was a part of the “party” towards the end with the lower quality look of the camera work and selfie interviews. Super creative.

Cons: There honestly aren't many cons and that is saying something because I’m super picky about my dramas. The show does get a little depressing/slow at times towards the middle. A few unnecessary scenes here and there. A couple cringe moments. Not bad though - the end is worth pushing through it. A little too much time was spent on side couples and second leads imo. The ending for the main side couple was a little lacking, but alright. There have been lots of toxic trolls being negative about this dramas just because XZ and YZ being cast together. I think they were great. I’m a huge fan of both actors.

I hope they keep making dramas better and better like this. Big shout out THANK YOU to the directors, producers, cast, editing team, everyone for making this show!

The most heartwarming drama I have ever watched

This drama is amazingly good, from the story plot to the all actors and actresses, and has one of the most beautiful OST. There is no anticlimax and I got intrigued by the storyline in every episode. I felt as if I was the one falling in love!

Yang Zi never fails to amaze me with her acting. Her natural flair in acting makes her character extremely bubbly and well-liked, and all her crying scenes were so contagious. Xiao Zhan also acts very well in this drama with his cool personality on the outside, and having a soft spot for Lin Zhi Xiao. I am falling heads over heels over their beautiful love story from meeting and falling in love to eventually getting married and building a home of their own.

I like the the other supporting characters like Gu Xiao, San San and the rest of the team in Gu Wei's hospital as well . Even though their scenes were shown abruptly in the middle of an episode at times, but you will eventually grow to appreciate their own unique story. It is a really heartwarming drama and I would strongly recommend everyone to watch.
