Happy ending (because that is very important not just for me, but for so many).

It had me on the edge trying to figure it out and I can say… I was wrong…lol. The story is very cute with a message of the importance in mental health (I’m a caseworker so with more reason, I liked it). Furthermore, it did make me wish one of my toxic relationships would have ended in a good and nice tone as one of the couples did (you will find out which one…lol). But the plot twist was very good, and it did made me feel bad (in a good way… if that’s possible).

Overall, I cried, was laughing, and cried some more once I was done with the show. I just wish it had more episodes.

QOT MY BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT OF THE YEAR.

“What soapy tragic trope will we put in?” writers: “ALL PLS” ☺️
I think my harsh criticism comes with how excited i was for this drama, and how much I truly enjoyed it at the beginning. I tuned in week after week, I was sure this was one would be drama of the year but wow was I wrong—

I’ll start with I loved THEM. I really do love Kim Soohyun as an actor and really watched for him. I was really impressed with KIm jiwon despite not liking her previous work.

The leads were amazing they were a real match made in heaven. I think if there’s something the directors did good is cast the people they casted. The leads had such an amazing chemistry, and I hope they win couple of the year because they truly deserve it.

I’ll start with this drama was falsely advertised as a rom-com but its full drama which starts to fall apart by ep 12. I feel like the writers room was a complete mess and i don’t know what happened. Memory loss ✅ car accidents while crossing the street✅, murdering step mother ✅ kidnapping and lying to the amnesiac✅, taking a bullet for the lead✅, almost getting killed MULTIPLE TIMES✅, falsely accused of murder ✅ Our hero saved fl in the past ✅, met as children✅ villains stole all the money✅ I know I am missing so many more but-

NAME A TROPE AND I CAN GUARANTEE THEY PUT IT IN.

I’t was excessive in my opinion to the point it became boring and extremely predictable. i have to be honest and admit that after episode 12 I hated this drama and skipped all the unnecessary banter of the villains, and other characters I did not care for. I can be honest and say that WE DID NOT NEED THAT MUCH TIME FOR THE AUNTIES RELATIONSHIP like who cares?. The mother getting forgiveness so easily was another down-head. I can say at the beginning despite her being a horrible mom i did not dislike her and found her character quite entertaining. But after her being forgiven so easily is when my dislike began.

I think the biggest character disappointment was the grandpa. WHO THE HELL SIGN CONTRACTS BASED ON VIBES LMAO. Prob the most unbelievable story line of them all. I feel the writers couldn’t pick between making him a silly little guy or a serious chaebol grandpa.

The character I enjoyed the most was Soocheol i honestly didn’t expect to like him as much as I did, and if there’s anything to take away is that HE WILL STEAL YOURT HEART WITH HIS PURE LOVE FOR HIS WIFE. I am soooooo in love with him and his character and I am excited to see him acting again hopefully as a lead this time.

I thought I wanted this drama to win drama of the year and now that I’m pretty sure it WILL win i am feeling quite upset.

The writers put every single trope out there, and forgot the most important one which is the leads rekindling their love in the country side and she get magically cured with the power of love. Who really cares about a power fight? I just wanted to see THEM but even them reconciling was surrounded by hurt and bad energy that it’s hard to even feel relieved by the end. Why was she acting so weird by the end? After crying so much for him to wake up? I get wanting to get to know each other but then we should’ve gotten all that an episode before the end.

The ending was beautiful it was nice to see her welcoming him into heaven but i say this with a snear on my face because in the end i ended up hating this drama n and eating up all the praises i gave it at the beginning of the drama.

I have a huge feeling this will become a fan favorite and I’m already dreading it being called a classic in a couple pf years.

Long awaited but a dismal disappointment

I was so eagerly waiting for this series to come out because of this main couple's unforgettable chemistry and performance together in Princess Agents, and the ML is one of my favorite actors. Unfortunately this series was a dismal disappointment in so many ways. I skipped through a lot of it, it was so boring. I cannot even list out any redeemable good things about it.

- The dubbing was so awful! It was so distractingly bad and was a disservice to the actors and ruined the overall experience. No proper background sounds or anything - just silence and then the dubbed voices.
- ML (Lin Geng Xin) is one of my favorite actors. His performance fell flat in this role. I understand that these types of roles for ancient gods they are supposed to be stoic - but he just came across as a boring character with little depth and lack of effective emotional expression.
- FL (Zhao Li Ying) - I am not a big fan of this actress, I don't think she has good acting range or facial expression/emotions. She's really only good at playing a cold & tough fighter. And half of her lines were delivered as voice narrations of her inner thoughts! The entire series, she barely actually spoke to the other characters!
- Chemistry - the main couple could not replicate the intense chemistry they had in Princess Agents
- The last episode was completely unnecessary! In the 2nd to the last episode, the storyline wrapped up, the main couple had their happy ending. So WHY the need to drag out 1 more episode to showcase that random other couple getting married? I just don't understand it.

I am so upset that my eager long awaited anticipation and time spent watching it was a total waste!

Unnecessary screen time for the villain

Unnecessary screen time for the villain at the end. There is no need for him to run over ML with his car, there is no need for him to kidnapped the FL and there is absolutely no need for him to shoot anyone.

Instead of having those scene, they should have more of these storyline/plot:
1. How did main lead become so cold to each other? Their baby? How?
2. ML and FL found out that ML save FL when they were kids
3. Queen Family found out that villain killed FL brother -> FL didn't caused her brother's death
4. Why the villain's mother hate Queen family?

As much as the villain actor portrait his character very well. It is a drama that better without a very strong present villain.

The main lead is the reason why I'm still watching this. KJW and KSH have great visual and acting. They also look great together. I am sad that we don't get more FL and ML moments in the final because I definitely wanted to see more.

Unique and Thrilling Drama!

This drama has one of the most interesting and socially relevant plots I’ve ever seen. The acting is superb and though many of the characters are flawed, their flaws hi light their humanity. I don’t want perfect characters, so I appreciate the anti-hero qualities to many of the main characters. There is a fair share of ridiculousness and a few characters are one -dimensional and cliche, but it doesn’t take away from the talent displayed and the message of the drama. I think many of the harsh reviews are from viewers who possibly forget that no one is truly good , not even ourselves. But it’s that uncomfortable friction that creates compelling stories.

Heartfelt

I will keep it short and will not include any spoilers.

One of the best Japanese BL that I watch. But, at this point i'm not sure if i could call it a BL. This could have very well be a movie good for Cannes Film Festival.

It turned out to be an adult love story. It addresses a plethora of real-life questions offering no easy answers, and refusing to pander to romantic movie stereotype.
Heartfelt, real and emotional to the bone. Good acting and a good chemistry between them.

I will 100% recommend to watch the series. As for me, it raise the bar when it comes to BL movies / series.

Alone in Love

The writer has a good track record of writing good unique shows and this drama was no exception. The drama stood out for its deep rich story and multi-layered narrative, offering a compelling journey through the complexities of life and relationships. Its strength lies in its ability to delve into the human psyche, exploring themes of love, family dynamics, societal expectations, ambition, and identity with a nuanced hand. The drama had a lot of story to tell and explore, yet it didn't feel bloated. The characters went through a tremendous development and growth during its runtime. The drama was filled with great characters and characterizations, each character is meticulously crafted, with their own hopes, fears, trauma and desires, adding depth and dimension to the storyline. I particular liked the subtle humor that lied in their casual interactions and dialogues. However, despite its many strengths, lied flaws that somewhat tarnished some of its brilliance. There were many things that could've been done better but nothing was too major. The entanglement of love square relationship may have lasted for too long and could've been navigated better, though I still love their unconventional dynamic. The drama kind of ended at episode 15 while the last episode was more like a real proper reflection and a graceful send off, I don't think I've seen something like that before in a drama. Despite some missteps and its unconventional approach, the drama remained a strong compelling watch with a star-studded cast.

Theft At Dawn

While I appreciate its shorter runtime of 10 episodes but I wish it was even shorter for a tighter package. Some side plots didn't fit the narrative and were a mere distraction, such as the female lead's friends personal affairs, not even a good filler. The middle parts were filled with padded sequences. It took a long time before actually getting into what the synopsis describes. From this kind of plot around embezzlement, I would expect somewhat a smarter play and a deeper plot but the drama kept things mostly at a surface-level and borderline making stupid mistakes intentionally to create some tension and invoke a reaction from the viewers. I really like what Kim Seo Hyung has been doing in the past few years, leading projects of characters that fit her are infinitely better than older supporting roles. Anyway, the drama may not rank high but still offers a decent viewing experience for those willing to explore something different.

Pathetic Themes of Love

The drama started on an objectively stupid and trashy conflict that couldn't have been written by a real human being in 1998. It loosely maximized all imaginary tropes of sadness, depression and angst regardless of how well they can connect them, that's why they slapped a terminal illness in the mix because why not at this point. The drama lacked the slightest minuscule resemblance of any balance. What's even the point? It failed to establish a good argument why the viewers should care, especially for how awful the setup was with both guys. The atrocious attempt to shove in the love triangle and romance of the leads was unbearable and killed any redeeming qualities all at once. This was one of the worst trio leads combination I've seen, surface-level and brain-dead trio entanglement. Forced rape, pregnancy, marriage and domestic abuse by their friend, all treated as something casual and turned a blind eye because exploring any of them, especially rape, would require more nuanced writing. After all of these long-winded commotions the drama shifted its focus to something different within a couple of scenes as if nothing happened. Garbage writing! The female lead was as dry and boring as they could come, easily the worst character in the drama. Even the guests had a better impression. The drama had big cuts and gaps which led to abysmal pacing and disjointed narrative. I had to double check if the drama was actually cut but both TV and DVD releases were the same. At the end of the day, there was a lot to dislike about the drama and little to no likeable elements.

Morning-After Pill

Something about action dramas from around early 2010s make them unique for better or worse. The drama started off with a big bang, literally, while shoving in the maximum possible amount of flashy elements. If you watch the very first scene it should give you a good idea. However, just like other ones from around the same time, it gradually began to wither away after 5-6 episodes until it reached a bland conclusion. The male lead doubling his role as a comedic relief was mostly fine, but him flailing his tongue like a dog was a bit too cringe to tolerate. The drama really wanted to include romance because it was the trend back then, that's why we had multiple pairings, most of them were unnecessary or weak. The main antagonist was your generic baddie, the drama didn't even show him a lot until the last few episodes because they didn't want to bother with more writing. The vibes were very similar to 'A Man Called God (2010)' which came out in the same year, except this one was a bit better.

What are 10 good things about this series?

1. *Fresh pairing of the leads and their extraordinary performance...*
I didn't have a good impression of the male lead Kim so hyun ..as he always makes a straight face...and it feels very boring...but this time I witnessed an improvement in his performance...he was pretty expressive in delivery of emotions....the female lead Kim ji won has always been in my good books and she retained her impression this time too with her out of ordinary performance...
2. *Female lead's character and it's development ...*
The character development in story though was below satisfactory overall but it was pretty good in case of female lead's character...she is shown to be a girl with cold posture but a warm heart ....she has got strong nerves ... pretty inspiring how she carries herself even in the direst of the situations... there's no paradox and throughout the drama she justified her character outline... even after losing her memory and stuff...
Also she loved the male lead throughout the drama... unlike male lead who was initially shown to be very selfish and later become a saint for reason never disclosed to audience..
3. *Touch of Humor from beginning to end*
For me humor is the highlight of this drama...
Of course not denying it to be an emotional rollercoaster...as there is pretty good amount of sadness and tragedy...But it carries a very good proportion of humor...and this lifted the heavyweight of many dark scenes...and this humor starts from the very1st epi and goes all the way till last epi.... unlike many dramas that start on a light note and become darker taking even the slightest humor left...
4. *Family love and reality*
In comparison to other subjects of this series...this theme has been presented more realistically...no matter the apparent manifestation of expressions and meanness in behavior and conduct..you r always together in adversity.. support each other...love and care for each other...this is what defines a family...
5. *Pretty entertaining Supporting characters*
The character of aunt...who married 3 times...her temper nd stuff...
The character of brothers and sisters...their competition... jealousy...and fights
Villagers .. ( the gossip monger ladies)
secretaries (particularly the female secretary)..
parents...
And even villains everyone performed really well
6. *Scenery, style, shooting and stuff*
Scenes have been choreographed really well ..nature... beautiful landscapes...and the styling of the cast... particularly the wardrobe of ji won is amazing...and gives an aesthetic touch to the screen
7. *Emotional stuff and tear load*
Power struggle... poverty... deception... disease... breakup... Jealousy and even love including many other things one can't control becoming victim of...and the ensuing helplessness that lingers in such situations...brings the scenes where you can't hold back your tears and they are quite many... however thanks to the intermittent humor the air gets less heavier...
8. * Happy conclusion *
Though this series is loaded with tragic turns but somehow everything concluded on a positive note...just like in fairy tales...
Family feuds... terminal disease... misunderstandings... selfishness.... revenge...hate and love everything has been shown in a smoothest and most dramatic way it can be presented... there's no tragedy as such... script is made Happy to the point it looks unnatural and unreal...
9. *Mixture of genres*
It caters to the interests of different kind of audiences as it has family...friendship... Money ...marriage... divorce...revenge...power struggle... business...city-village life...broken families... childhood traumas and much more...
10. *Unrealistically hopeful story*
Good for those who prefer touch of fantasy in dramas...

it is not great & it is not bad drama

If you need a drama that is easy to watch this one is for you. Is is not great and it is not bad.

I have to say the first half was better as probably from 11ep it is getting a little bit boring. Is would be better if it had less episodes.

The acting is okay and of course the visuals of Koo Woo. The chemistry between leads is great!

overall it is a great drama if you want to watch something where you can just switch off and not use your brain.

Masterpiece

Loved everything from the story to the acting to CGI.

Jang Uk is witty, smart, genius, carefree, jolly minded, lazy, lout, fickle. He isn't a great mage & lacking in power for some reason. Throughout, we'll see his growth. I liked that they didn't show him as a powerful mage who is unbeatable, which is why we can see development.

Mu-Doek is a mysterious person. She is straightforward, isn't afraid of anyone, brave, an expert at lies. I liked how her voice changed into a somewhat mocking tone, but in front of Jang Uk it's different. She has another name, which is Filthy Mu Deok.

Jang Uk & Mu-Doek have a master & maid relationship and also a master & student relationship. In the end, lovers. They focus more on the master-maid & master-student relationship. But there is love between them & it's shown by their actions. They do end up together in the end, but.....

Park Dang Gu is fun-loving, kind, speaks without thinking. Seo Yul is a serious guy who always stands for the right.

Love how Jang UK keeps on teasing Mu-Doek by giving her lots of work.

Loved how unbothered Jang Uk was after breaking Jin family heirloom. Park Jin fell down on the floor while chasing him because of it.

Laughed when Jang Uk asked Maidservant Kim to carry Mu Deok on her back & Seo Yul to carry him, their shocked faces after hearing it.

Angry face of Park Jin when Master Heo tells him that he is a lonely person.

The way Park Jin & Maidservant Kim tease each other for having feelings for Jang UK parents. I love them together. They are my favorite couple.

Laughed at how Jang Uk made Park Dang Gu believe that Mu Deok likes Seo Yul.

Laughed my ass off when Jang Uk, Mu Deok, Park Dang Gu, Maidservant Kim offered that they'd drink the filthy water.

It may seem like Park Jin hates Jang Uk actually, he cares & loves him.

Love Park Jin & Maidservant Kim bickering. Loved the way they were stammering to say each other good-looking.

They way Jung Uk & Mu Deok firmly said they’re not married to Master Lee.

Jung Uk horrified face & reaction when he learns that he drank tea which could lower his libido.

Loved how easily & with a straight face Jang Uk said the Heo Yoon Ok that her looks didn’t impress him.

Laughed when Park Dang Gu asked Park Jin if he has any secret child or not & the embarrassed face of Park Jin.

When Jang Uk & Crown Price came to find their loved ones but ended up seeing each other, it was hilarious.

Park Jin acting like a kid to meet Maidservant Kim is so cute.

I laughed so much when Jang Uk & Mu Deok started acting to get punished. The confused faces of Park Jin, Jin Mu, Crown Price & Sang Ho.

Jang Uk scared face when his serect of having 7 exes was revealed in front of Mu Deok.

The face of Jang Uk when Mu Deok said, "she likes him a lot" & kissed him.

Loved everything. No Complain.

Thought-Provoking Drama

Wow! This drama was truly something special! It felt real and unique, with all that action and tension between the characters. The concept of organ culturing for eternal life seemed incredible initially, but as the story unfolded, it became chilling. Yet, amidst all the horror, the writer managed to weave a thoughtful moral message. Awesome!
