Do Not Worry This Is A well executed compelling Story from Start to Finish

So I realise this is a remake of a Taiwanese drama i know nothing about nor do I want to. Just want to be clear about that.

One of the things Ive grown to love about Kdramas is how they hand you a Supernatural, Time Travel, or Fantasy premise and just roll with it, they dont feel the need to exllain the detailed roots of the scenarios they set their stories in. They just present it and away we go. So in that sense often the suprernatiral, sci fi, timetravel, mind reading or other out there premise facilitates the story rather than becomes the story. So in A Time Called You we dont know how or why a "walkman" is suddenly a time travelling soul trans migration device it just is and it just means a fantastic tale can be and is told.

I loved this drama for the wonderfully clever way of telling a love story (actually several), a crime mystery and a youthful struggle of acceptance and coming to terms with life.

I groan when i read about it not making sense for x or y reasons. As i said the walkman is a time machine logic is not the point. Having said that there is a tightness to the chronology and attention to detail in the story that makes it less plothole ridden than most shows that dabble in time travel and their resultant loops and multiverses.
The FL acting is wonderful, the rest of the cast are on point, the twists and turns are clever well paced and often delightfully unexpected.

Do not get hung up on the laws of physics, the writer doesnt, do not get hung up on the original vs remake, just watch and enjoy having a superior viewing experience.

Highly Reccomend.

Weak roles but compensated by stunning performance by actors (forced tragic end)

The story is little and slow paced .. ridiculed by the back story that hardly makes any sense cause no matter how much you love someone but you won't put sword to your own child's neck to avenge their death ...
Secondly the cast was amazing .. specially both leads ..the looks the acting the chemistry everything was really really good ...
Though the FL lead character is quite anti-lead in a nutshell but as far as her acting performance is concerned I am totally impressed.

The ending was a little forced I suppose cause honestly for genre in the beginning of the show nobody would have expected this type of ending but anyway I don't mind sad ending but this one looks forced tragic ..

Overall watchable but don't watch it if you are into happy endings...
Re-watch value : double zero ... As what's the point of watching something so sad again and again ..

A Disappointing Descent into Sadism; Wish I could put rewatch value to zero

This series unfortunately falls short of delivering a compelling viewing experience. This show offers nothing new in terms of plot or character development, instead relying heavily on graphic depictions of torture and the sadistic tendencies of its characters. Some plot twist is there but overall it is based on cruelty and unjustice, based on recycling tropes that we have seen countless times before.
One of the most troubling aspects of "The 8 Show" is its relentless focus on human suffering, much like the "Saw" series. I never actually completed the 'Saw' series as it was wholly based on torture from the very beginning, but this series was a trap. It started with a curious plot but ended up being total nonsense. Only sadistic people can find it enjoyable. When those problematic scenes started, I had to fast-forward to find the end result. That's how I finished the whole series in one day.
The series seems obsessed with exploring the darkest sides of human nature, often in a gratuitous and sensationalized manner. Scenes of torture and sadistic behavior are not only frequent but are depicted with a level of detail that borders on the voyeuristic. This overwhelming emphasis on brutality overshadows any potential for meaningful character development or emotional depth. I also hated the fact that the totally insane eighth girl got too lucky, while almost everyone else had their fair share of torture, that makes this series more disappointing.
In a landscape abundant with innovative and heartfelt Korean dramas, "The 8 Show" stands out for all the wrong reasons. Its reliance on shock value and a stale, uninspired plot makes it a tedious and unpleasant watch. For viewers seeking a series with depth, originality, and a compelling storyline, this is not the show to invest your time in. "The 8 Show" serves as a grim reminder that sensationalism without substance rarely results in good entertainment.

A Familiar Game, Played Without Originality

The core plot offers no surprises. We've seen desperate characters pitted against each other in deadly challenges before. The show relies heavily on these well-trodden tropes, neglecting to develop a unique identity.

Character Development Takes a Backseat to Brutality

Instead of fleshing out the contestants and their motivations, the show throws them into a gauntlet of violence. The focus on graphic torture and sadistic behavior becomes tiresome quickly. While some may find shock value in the bloodshed, it ultimately feels gratuitous and detracts from any potential character depth. Moreover, the characters themselves are largely one-dimensional, defined primarily by their capacity for cruelty or their roles as victims. This lack of complexity makes it difficult for viewers to form any genuine connection with them. Instead of being invested in their fates, audiences are left feeling alienated and disinterested.

A Disappointing Experience

Unless you're solely interested in graphic violence, "The 8 Show" offers little to recommend itself. The derivative plot and underdeveloped characters fail to captivate, leaving viewers with a hollow and unpleasant experience.

Major Plot holes

Why didn't they buy food from the main door during the time when the eighth girl stopped giving them food. At the very least, they could have bought drinks. They could have snatched her card in the first place and overruled her throne? i think they were not even aware of all the rules at that time! That was the dumbest plot.
The show could explore a wider range of strategies characters use to survive; For example, the 1st guy's situation highlights a problem. While a life-or-death situation can make people desperate and ruthless, it seems a bit absurd. Why wouldn't he try to buy some precious jewels from the 8th girl's account and sell them later after getting out? He could have at least tried switching floors with himself using the 8th girl's money (lol). By then, it was clear there weren't any rules stopping anyone from doing whatever they wanted. Furthermore, without proper hygiene maintenance, people could have gotten seriously sick or smelly. Even sitting next to each other would have been a nightmare. Anyone could have bought water and a bathtub with her money, then transferred them to the next three larger floors for everyone to take proper showers (again, lol). At the very least, they should have used her money to make everyone more comfortable. For some self-defense, buying weapons for everyone wouldn't have been a bad idea either ;) Why they didnt even buy a pair of fresh cloths, I wonder. Does this drama simply portray a collection of dumb poor people? The hypocritical fifth lady was weird. She was too soft until episode 6 and then suddenly became ruthless in later episodes. The blind baseball bat beating scene was completely illogical, as anyone could have died even though no deaths were allowed to complete the game. Also, people seemed to heal too quickly without any proper treatment after so much beating. How did the cruel sixth guy even stand up and overcome all the others after being tied up for days with wounded feet?

Dark side

Even more troubling is the show's reinforcement of a real-world dynamic: the power of wealth. By constantly placing the characters in situations where ruthlessness is rewarded, 'The 8 Show' implies that those with money and power can bully their way to the top. This reinforces existing societal imbalances where the wealthy and powerful can exploit the less fortunate. The show offers no challenge to this status quo, instead reveling in the humiliation and suffering of those without power. This glorification of bullying tactics can have a negative impact on viewers, potentially desensitizing them to real-world power struggles and the plight of those who are bullied.

Recommendation:

If you're looking for a suspenseful survival drama, look elsewhere. This show might appeal to those who enjoy extreme violence, but for most viewers, it's a skippable entry in the genre.

When faith plays with us

Well, in short i would say group watch (watching together with other ppl) is better than watching alone for this drama, so we can support each other and able to have a better positive point of views for POC.

POC has decent political and harem plot. All cast have good acting skill, especially Cheng Yi, we can feel his brokenness through his remarkable acting skill.

Yes fate played with him, but he was managed to accept it, get up and start over for every falls he experienced.

So in my opinion, if ppl said POC makes ppl depressed, on the contrary i feel POC and chengxu role is a great inspiration for ppl in depression, to always have hope, whatever happens, until the end of life.

Life may not goes like we want to, but thats what make this life mysterious and worth adventuring. Always living a smooth life will not teach us any life lessons.

So dont be afraid to watch, give it a try, it maybe a bit draggy in the middle, but after the climax, which is ep 45-50, all are payoff...

And we are all will feel its a worth it emotional journey 🥰

Decent but Amazing OST

The show was long with 63 episodes, which may be boring for some people. I think the casting was pretty good, but the script was a bit lacking. The OST was AMAZING. However, one thing I disliked was the fact that Jin Mi always needed saving. It was like she couldn't do anything that didn't involve one of the love interests or some supporting character helping her. The ending does make this better, and you will need a lot of tissues to watch this.

Give it a chance!

Was Only For Love a masterpiece? Absolutely not. Was it an original story? No. But was it entertaining? Yes! This is the first chinese drama that I've completed in a while, and I'm happy that I was not intimidated by the reviews/comments. I think the key to enjoying this drama is to come into it with low expectations.

There were significant pacing issues and loose ends in my opinion but Bai Lu's performance was captivating. I am no Bai Lu stan, I had only seen her in Love is Sweet (which I did not enjoy); but she really carries this drama on her back with her comedic timing, in what would otherwise be a bland show.

I think this show suffers from trying to do too much. However, if you are looking for a sweet and fluffy drama where you can turn your brain off, give Only for Love a try.

Illogical Plot

The OST of Miss the Dragon was good. However, the production crew didn't think things thoroughly. For example, in the first episode, there is a character on the carriage, 夏 (Xià). This means the carriage belongs to the 夏 (Xià) family. However, the lady in the carriage's last name is 夏侯 (Xiàhóu). In the same scene, the maid gives away food without asking for her lady's permission. In the first few minutes, they already manage to mess up multiple times. The villain of the story didn't really do much, and the script is illogical. I don't even know why I watched until the end because if you love happy endings, you will be disappointed. If you are here for Dylan Wang, I would suggest you watch something else because this is not his best work.

Esse dorama será o melhor da sua vida!

Meu dorama favorito e vou te falar o porquê:

Everything was decent...EXCEPT the romance

It’s funny because the only reason I tried to watch this was for the romance premise. But the romance was the only part that truly sucked. The plot is interesting and the writing and acting are decent.

But the “romance” has very little to do with the characters falling in love. It’s nothing more than a series of cliche moments of physical proximity that are drawn out like queer bait thumbnails.

You don’t have the push and pull of conflict or the characters coming to terms with feelings. Even though the acting is okay, I just don’t feel any chemistry between the leads. There’s no urgency. It falls flat and they just don’t convince me that their characters have feelings for each other. So I guess that part of the acting is bad.

I may have gone a couple months in between episode 3 and episode 4. But I watched episodes 4, 5, and 6 all in a row and all of the above became clear.

Honestly the show was a little better before the romance aspect was introduced.

Not really a bad remake. I wonder why people are complaining so much. (P.S. I love remakes)

Ep 1 to Ep 5: Before I started watching I went through the comments and most were pretty much bashing the show, the cast, & the story. When I finally got to watching it, I realized that most of them are being too negative. It isn't a bad remake. I can see why the actor who's playing Brandon, he sometimes resembles Park Seo Joon. Its the eyes and side profile. The actor Paulo is doing a good job as Brandon if you watch the drama without comparing. And Kim Chiu is really very pretty, her dimples are just so adorable. Her acting is also good. I like that they speak in English majority of the time, so I focus more on the scenes and people. In Korean version, Secretary Kim is more subtle in showing her emotions whereas here Secretary Kim is too emotional with expressions exaggerated. The one thing that they got wrong is the office space for the staff, it just doesn't go well with the theme of the show. I do like Brandon's throne though. They introduced Morpheus, he is one character that looks very sleezy, he looks like a young John Schneider who got a surfer dude haircut. I am not a fan of the other characters so far but lets see how it develops.

Ep 6 to Ep 10: Even with the 20 mins episodes it drags a bit from time to time. I have to skip a lot of scenes because I'm only interested in what's happening between the leads. A few people in the comments said that the leads lack the chemistry, they must be blind. I see the chemistry. The remake has made a few changes as to when things happens and I like them. I also liked that Brandon chose to participate in the games instead of watching from the sidelines. Still not liking Cyrus's look though, give that guy a surfboard. I'm really not a fan of fusion food. Even other people eating it makes me go why!

Ep 11 to Ep 29: The story progression is fine, the chemistry develops gradually, and you are glad that they get together. However, the decision to hide the past seems to have been made very complicated but it isn't in reality. But that's trauma for you. But the FL already suspects that he is the 'Ninja Boy', so he might as well confide in her.

Super Cute

Yes, it would have been better if it was longer and with a better plot. This was definitely low budget (with only 5 human beings in the whole series).

But, I really want to give them some love. I think the actors did a great job with what they had. And, since Choi Dong Ho admitted he is not a cheerful person in real life, it had to be the director’s choice. And what he produced was super cute.

We hear the reason Minjae is so cold and stand-offish in the last episode. But things turned out well and I thoroughly enjoyed this. It was sweet and lighthearted and made for a perfect lazy afternoon binge watch.

some yall reviews are preety misleading

As the title states "some of yall reviews are very much misleading"and i gotta say i was kinda disappointed yet it was expected. I just so happened to come across triage in mdl and decided to see the reviews before i watched it and i gotta admit the things yall saying about it gave me high hopes and expectations for this and how yall described it is like this is the god amoung bls or smth. . I know its yall opinion but some of yall does go overboard. I am shocked at the rating yall giving this bl and i just find it so funny how almost all of the ratings is either 9, 9.5 or 10
And the titles and the reviews yall giving this bl is not giving persons like me no justice at all
Like for example one of the top reviews title states " THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST ASIAN BLS OF ALL TIME" i wouldn't go so far as to say its the best bl of all time and some others take after that person in terms of the title and the reviews as well!!
Anyway
What i like- the chemistry between the main couple, the ending ( that nearly made me cry ), the plot, their acting and (especially tol he is sooo cute XD )

What i dont like - the constant repitition of the time loop, the solution to the time loop( i feel like they couldve solved this problem earlier and better so it could've avoided the casualty of tin), and i also feel that if they adjusted this bl a little more it would've probably been a 10/10

So to conclude it wasnt that bad, it was alright but would i watch it again ..... sadly no as far as i am concerned it should be watched once and done and if it should be watched again i would recommend watching when they start falling for each other.
So ppl if u want a bl with time travel/time loop with romance this is it for you!!!!!

JUST A CUTE AND FLUFFY LOVE STORY

First of all, I feel like I am watching Yeo Jin Goo or Yoon Chan Young and Im Si Hwan doing a BL here coz Kim Jin Woo Looks like Yeo Jin Goo and Yoon Chan Young and Gi Seop Looks like Im Si Hwan for me !!
About the not able to admit or confess to our crushes, everyone feels the same I believe, coz I remember way back in my High School days, I was not able to confess to my crush too, but my friends confessed for me , so here it just happened that a certain guy who can't say no to everyone happened to meet a person whom he knows actually likes him but does not go out with him, and he began to became curious of finding out and as he do it, he fell with the guy ! That plot is not really new for me, in some ways I find the story and the situations on this drama really nonesense but a POV of a madly inlove guys, but why did I gave it a high rating? Its because It was very cute and fluffy, watching it makes you really feel good, that's what I like about it ! Given the great visuals of the leads and how they portray the characters was really entertaining and soothing in my eyes. Jeong Gi Seop and Kim Jin Woo lead me to their world, Jeong Gi Seop's character was something really new to me, he is innocent and soft while I think Jin Woo is strong and at the same time he was a baby, all they ever did here was to make me jealous of their beautiful faces, beautiful lovelife and the fact that they are rich and living in South Korea ! The Drama was easy to watch, not too heavy, it was so funny also, just beautiful from start to end. About Choi BalGeum. I LIKE his name by the way, his love story was a bit sad and dark for me, korean BL always has this plots where an ex lover comes back and shake a certain character, anyways I am not really a fan of that, I actually skipped Choi Bal Geum's love story , I am sorry , just happy with Jin Woo and Gi Seop here , my favorite part was when they finally confessed to each other and they were sticking like a glue on the street, that was so funny, I am happy by the way that it was not too short so the run time was enough for the story, not rushed. ONLY I hated that I am confused with the ending ! Was it that they are not able to recognize each other after a long time or was it before they actually met ? Like the very beginning ? I don't know how can I move on with that coz I so love them , I am thinking that maybe there might be a season 2 ? Anyways , so happy with this drama, Gonna re watch this many times in the future and a recommended one and Gi Seoo is so Pretty , I like his voice so gentle, he is really gifted with that appearance !

I enjoyed this series while waiting for 1) the two main characters to connect and, 2) to see if the main female character would make captain at Luzhou Airlines. If your world includes flying, pilots, airline attendants, gate check in, ground maintenance, or an Airports you can relate to this show. I have not had the opportunity to travel in a Boeing Dreamliner airplane yet however, I felt like I was in the 787 cockpit alot with this show . I also liked the storyline focused on priority of customer care.

First J-Drama and enjoyed it. Slice of life is hard to execute well but it did it.

This was my first J-Drama and I wasn't expecting to like it but I binge watched it in a weekend. I love Slice of Life but it's a very hard genre to execute. They're quintessentially "plot-less" and so you have to work extra hard to make the story, situations, and characters believable and entertaining. Somehow they did it. I definitely think it's rewatchable if you wanted a slice of life drama with a "coming of age" theme for adult women. If you like the elements of friendship/camaraderie, careers, and romance thrown in too, it'll give you that. I got all the things I was looking for out of this drama.
