I incidently watch this drama after a looong day of work..and it lifts me up. The story is great and the characters(casts) are well versed with their role. This drama had many values. I rewatches this drama (i never done this in chinese drama before). The team deserves a standing ovation. The casts are great, n i enjoyed all of it esp the last battle , indeed an epic one. I google the novel, and i personally preferred the drama more than the novel. If there were to be 2nd season ,i really hope (please please please) it would be the same casts..coz if it is not, then what is the point????..
P.s i dont mind lack of romance part as there are tons drama out there has it, but btth has what i called added values, in which what lacking in many dramas nowadays.. One of quote that i love from xiao yan
"if i am still alive, and able to fight them, eventhough i am not the choosen one, i will do my best to do it!"
Kudos to the team!!????????

Took Me Into A New Universe
I like cultivation shows, and this show in particular embodied the right elements that made it into a very interesting cultivation drama. I haven't seen the animated version before watching this so I don't have any material to compare it. With this, I was extremely satisfied with how the show was directed, and how the CGI was perfectly integrated.I love Leo Wu's interpretation and character delivery. His fellow actors showed an impeccable performance which contributed a lot into the show's overall brilliance.

Talk about character assassination
I am sure this is a fine, albeit relatively low budget wuxia drama for those that have zero knowledge of the source material. But I struggle to see this getting high ratings from anyone that has every read the novels or even watched the Donghua.Spoiler!!!!!!!!!!
I just had to rant somewhere, sorry this is where it had to be.
RIP Gu Xun Er, the most loyal, supportive, and badass woman in all of the Battle Through the Heavens novel and Donghua.
The character assassination done to her at the end of this series was unforgivable. That whole final scene of her taking the ring and leaving Xiao Yan for dead would never, EVERRRRRRRRRR happen with the source Gu Xun Er. She literally tells him that she was supposed to steal the Ancient God Jade but couldn't, and warned him to never let anyone know he had it. And all throughout the source material she goes against the ancestors/elders in her belief and loyalty to Xiao Yan. And to just leave him dying there, just assuming he would die? She would do everything in her power to save him, no matter what.
Maybe it is unfair to compare this adaptation to the source material, or even the Donghua, but it is really hard not to. I usually can ignore changes from source material in an adaptation, I completely understand how unrealistic it is to expect things to be completely accurate. But to change a main character to this extent is inexcusable, no matter the reason.
Rant over.

One of my favorite wuxia drama
I enjoyed this at the same level as Ever Night 1, and I've rewatched this several times. I like wuxia dramas especially those focusing on cultivation and underdog type stories. The ML's journey and progression as to how he acquires his skills were well paced. There were some dragging moments that I don't care for i.e., plot concerning palace/royals and zombies/puppets. The battle scenes were executed well esp the finale. The main reason I liked this drama is that they were plenty of highlights. The battle scenes where he shows off his power were alloted enough screen time and done right, i.e., you can see how powerful the ML is. I hate Wuxia dramas where the ML is supposed to be the most powerful and yet getting beaten often or needing to be rescued.
I wish they'll make season 2.

This drama is quite decent. The acting of some people was pretty good. The music is pretty good as well. The effects were also pretty good. In one scene, the Male Main Character drives a huge gaping wound on a snake causing blood to spill out all over the character. In another scene, the characters and his team humiliate another team by using water disguised as urine to "water the vegetables." The drama was funny at times. However, this is the best argument I can make for the Director. If you are unaware, this drama is based off of a novel called Battle Through The Heavens, a wuxia novel. However, to me, this is where the director made the biggest sin; the director chose to modify the story beyond the novel. This was a terrible mistake because the novel was decent by itself. All the director had to do was follow the story and edit out the exe.forbidden-fruit-scenes. The drama would have been great. Instead, the beginning was half-kept and modified. The rest of the drama had pieces of the novel but were modified beyond recognition such as the academy. Also, they messed up the characters. They switched the roles and backgrounds of the characters in the drama which did not sit well with me. The male lead in the novel was a little humble, fiercely protective of those he cared about and hardworking. However, in the drama, the male lead is a little arrogant and the acting was questionable sometimes compounded by the fact that drama can be considered completely different from the novel. Also, because the director decided to change the original story, it was left with many loopholes. At least for me, I could not accept this. The drama was worse than the novel which begs the question of whether the director should have kept the original story or not.
To me, watching this was excruciating. There were times when I wanted to yell at the director for making this drama exist. I did not agree with the director's choice to make the story completely different. I suspect that the budget was not very high hence the decision and the sudden halt. However, because some people have not read the novel, it can be considered decent. For those that have not read and watched either, watch the drama first then the novel. If you read the novel first, you will immediately notice the flaws and dislike the drama.
Yeah, maybe I am being too harsh. After all, it has been a while since I have watched the drama. To me, it is like having to compare an inferior fruit to a superior fruit. You would not notice the inferiority had you had just been given the inferior fruit. I also loosely remember(I maybe wrong) that the distinctions between power levels is almost not mentioned in the drama. Anyway. watch first then read.

EPIC WUXIA BUTMAJOR CLIFFHANGER
I REALLY LOVE this drama. But no I did not read the novel or watch the anime.SPOILER ALERT
Acting
I think everyone had shown great acting in this drama especially main cast, Wu Lei. He was cute but masculine, soft and kind -hearted but could be fierce and scary.
Story.
I love how simple and direct the story was. We know from the very beginning who was the good guy, the evil one. And what was the mission.
Although there are parts that made me scratched my head a bit. Like XY confession to Xia Yixian in the cave.Do they want to go with romantic route with this couple or not ? Because the scene was touching and I really thought he liked her but not😑. It was not.
And Male and and Female lead Xun er is first cousin😱.
There are LOL moments everytime XY put on his mask and becomes Yan Xiao🤣. Nobody could recognized him. Really?
And for WTF moment in the last episode. It was an epic battle and XY won! and suddenly this mad woman Yixian brought him to an isolated cave and leave him alone which led to Han Feng took his ring!!!! He could be just fine with his people in the arena!!!!and then the end!!!!
WHO ENDS A DRAMA LIKE THAT WITHOUT SEASON 2 IN PRODUCTION??!!!

This TV series has a setting of fantasy and wuxia in the ancient china setting; story is not that unique, its always about powering up to defeat more enemies and save the world and stuff like that. But this main character has had one too many set backs that at around episode 40 onward his facial expressions are not as fresh as before (in my opinion). However I do like that they surprised me by not going the harem route; I thought that he was gonna conquer all the females in power, but he didn't. Music and studio effects are fresh, they change it up every few episodes so we dont get sick of it. ( I know some korean dramas that keep using the same OST, but it just invokes feelings to that song, its not bad)
Overall, I will keep a lookout in 2019 for the season 2!

All I could see is this is a side story, I hope in season 2 the producer would follow the novel or comic, these would be the beginning journey of actual Battle through the heaven.

Unwavering Motivation & Perseverance + The Ultimate Cheat Code to Power.
Where to start? Hmm, honestly... This drama made me contemplate so much. It is very enjoyable during the 1st half of it (even when a lot of things are questionable) then during the episode 30+ the drama started to get a little all over the place for me; and even the remaining episodes made me feel like they're just doing things just to satisfy the viewers without any proper presentation and scaling of how things happened. It was more of "Surpirise! This character suddenly got super powerful now" yet still having so much hard time dealing with less powerful enemies. Lol~Let me just enumerate the things I like and Dislike about this drama to sum it all up and let me start with...
×× Likes
→ The characters and the actors. Almost all of them satisfies me and really impresses me a lot specially Xiao Yan, Yao Chen and Ice King. They're like the backbone of this dramas enterntainment for me. Special mention to Poison Fairy and Xun Er.
→ Costume's looking good. I love that they didn't go extreme with the design and color pallete. It was more of the neutral and primary colors and that really helps me watch the drama with ease and comfort.
→ The quirky and comical vibe of the drama enriches the entire show for me. It was made more enjoyable and interesting to watch.
→ The Fighting Scenes execution were all interesting as well and always made me go wild specially when Xiao Yan's doing his flying and flame shits. Amost most of it were well-done aside from some little glitches visible at times.
××Dislikes
→ The plot build up and story flow just doesn't make sense 30% of the time. It made me question what the hell is going on with this drama and even bored me during the 2nd half of it.
→ The non-sensical power scaling of the characters. Like HELL! I was so confused whether the ML is already more powerful than his enemies or not. He's clearly overpowering the most feared main villain but is getting badly nerf by its underlings. Also, some of the fights that should've been handled pretty easily can take so much manpower and effort even when they can clearly finish it in 1 powerful blow. Like common!!
→ Another thing is the way they dragged the story by focusing on some irrelevant stuff instead of making improvements and producing more ideas for the most important fights and scenes.
Nonetheless this drama helped me go through my boredom and truly served some greatness as well. I would still recommend it and will probably watch the S2 (even with different Cast) once it comes out.
Story - 9.0, It's still good despite all the flaws I've listed above. Although it has some questionable moments I can still say that It never disappoint me to the point of dropping it. I just felt like they could've focuses more on improving its plot, twist and building the story itself.
Acting/Cast - 10, Acting of both the Main Leads and Side characters were all extremely good to the point where I even ask myself how can they do that? How can they alter from one expression and emotion into another and how do they manage to let it all out without feeling awkward. The actors/actresses in this drama are really phenomenal. An amazing set of artists.
Music - 9.0, I started to enjoy the Music when I recognized Xiao Zhan's Voice. Hahaha~ Honestly, this drama has a Minimal use of BGMs and most of them are like trailer instrumentals which is decent. It's good overall and never bothered me.
Rewatch Value - 9.0, Something I would watch again IF I wanna watch Wu Lei and his cutie Teenager acting. Aside from that this drama's really enjoyable to watch and wouldn't bore anyone if you don't go too in-depth with the story progression.
Overall - 9.5, I feel like this is the most appropriate score for this drama. It was a fantastic production with a great set of actors and actresses and will surely entertain anyone one way or another..

Im just waiting for release of part 2 and i hope it will start shooting soon.
Lead actors play well in their role and that makes it huge success. So please fast ⏩ forward season 2.
I expected similar drama Alchemy of soul will be good but it Sutter my expections who don't respect female lead and makes joke like passing parcel(souls) with lead actress. It's disgusting drama so please don't do such mistakes in your drama. If you had leads characters then stick them in drama without changeing.

What impressed me most was the special effects and the cast acted well.
You would see how the main character, Xiao Yan, overcame the schemes and attacks of his enemies with unexpected help through the drama. At every crisis, you wonder how was he going to get through this one.
You would might be reminded of Harry Potter, Jumanji, Alice in Wonderland, so in terms of originality, it did not measure high.
The drama was interesting but lacked an element of surprise and mystery. It was very clear who were on the good side and who were on the bad, so there was not much of a surprise. However, it made you clutch your fist when the bad guys were winning and were blaming and punishing the good guys for crimes they did not commit. You feel like punching them, if only you were there.
The title translation 'Fights break Sphere' is terrible. 'Battle through Heaven' without 'the' would be much better.
The final battle was exciting but the attempt to turn out a surprise at the very end did not work too well. Many Chinese dramas have terrible endings - perhaps you should start the story with the end in mind.
I would rate it among the top league although not quite in the ultra top like The Untamed, Nirvana in Fire or Ten Mile Peach Blossom - they set a standard difficult to beat.
But as you know this is the first season, so you would expect a sequel and an ending that was not conclusive.
