8 years has passed and it’s in March, 1504. Cheon Soo, working as a smith, and Myeong Yi, as a homemaker, they have settled down in a rural village, hiding themselves from certain incidents they got involved in by disguising themselves as low-class people. Soon, Cheon Soo and Myeong Yi have a daughter named Jang Geum. King Yeon San has been tyrannizing the country for a decade and a political massacre takes place. One day, Cheon Soo takes Jang Geum to the market and Cheon Soo gets arrested for his involvement in killing deposed Queen Yoon. Myeong Yi and Jang Geum head to the capital city, hoping to meet Cheon Soo. Court lady Seong Geum witnesses Myeong Yi and Jang Geum at a market place while shopping and feels threatened by Myeong Yi’s presence. Seong Geum and her brother, Pan Sool, plot to kill Myeong Yi.
