I watched the first two episodes of Abyss but I became tired of the almost constant harping about the leads’ physical attractiveness or lack thereof. It makes them, as well as the people around them, seem boringly shallow. Yes, I know that it’s supposed to be funny: They died and got another chance at life and instead of being in awe of their second chance, they dwell on their looks. But that joke gets tiresome and I don’t think it works as a satire of Korea’s obsession with physical attractiveness. Because neither leads’ personality seems particularly winning up to this point (Park Bo Young’s character is smug while Ahn Hyo Seop’s character is just stupid), it makes this a hard watch despite the interesting setupThis doesn’t always bother me; I like watching pretty people as much as everybody else. But I wish the leads in Abyss could just get over themselves and move on. I probably will stop following this and watch the last episode just to see who the killer is. If I can drum up enough interest.

Story:
I usually hate reincarnation stories because it takes them a lifetime to know that both of them are alive, but it wasn't a case for this one. The storyline and mystery was great, they could have added more suspense. Ending was great too. Wasn't too boring and Thriller and Romance were properly balanced.
Acting and Cast
Park Bo Young, Han So Hee and Ah Hyeon Seop perfect cast and perfect acting. I just felt like the ML's mother character was annoying and useless.

Into the abyss, my favorite OST amd also loved 'Starlight is Falling' like a meme song in between.
Overall, backstory and reincarnation story was great, didn't drag everything too much. This deserves more recognition.

Very touching romance! and how much love and tenderness is in it!))) I recommend for viewing!))Well, now in more detail) because of the description of the plot, I was afraid to watch, because I thought it would be very sad ... but .. how much the series captures from the first minutes of the 1st series !! I started watching as always because of Inguk) (but he flashed there just once) ..
All actors, absolutely all performed their roles perfectly! even the actor who played Chamin from the 1st episode, although not handsome, is quite charming). There was incredible chemistry between Ahn Hyoseop and Park Boeun )) Hyesop is just adorable! I really liked his game and how he expresses emotions)) he is incredibly plastic and artistic) !!! such tenderness and deep feelings managed to be conveyed to the main characters in the last episodes .. wow ..))) ... heat of passion)) Hyo Seop passed all these feelings right through himself lol (well, or did I just notice it?))) he is incredibly accurate conveyed all the emotions of the main character, I chewed so much ahah ..
I really love a good acting game, not just where the actors are chosen harmoniously or beautiful (and also) who convey emotions well in the plot! I noticed that Asian actors are the best in this regard!)
The plot is interesting, it is unusual, as well as the staging. Yes, there are a lot of sad moments, but at the same time comical ones, where the main characters are constantly resurrected and they need to somehow explain to others why they are still alive ahah, but that's the beauty of it, because they are given a chance to get to the bottom of the matter and change everything))
a bit sad that Kwon Soo Hyun is playing a psychopath again (( (when will he be given the lead role of a positive character?) although he did a great job as always ahah but I want to see him play in a positive way.
the music is beautiful, the songs .. I liked everything, so much so that I even recommend watching it again)) !!! (the series is so well filmed that I think I would review it again in a while)

Honestly IDK how this got such bad reviews
Abyss was absolutely beautiful and well integrated in my opinion. I hated the implications of beauty the whole thing had. But otherwise the crime, supernatural activity and romance was well integrated. I understand the criticism that there wasn't much explanation about the abyss itself. But IMO since it was just bestowed on Cha Min, they are themselves slowly discovering things about the marble. It was understandable to me that the story ended without too much being revealed about it as it was unnecessary and did not contribute to the story as a whole. I loved the crime aspect of it. The second villain did not have good enough motivations in my opinion. But the first villain was iconic and well written. The series kept my interest high and kept me on the tip of my feet. I wouldn't recommend it to most people. If it seems to be your type from this, then go for it.Was this review helpful to you?
How shallow can a drama get?
I'm less than an episode in and I can't. I just can't. Came here, read the reviews and looks like there is no light at the end of the tunnel - or anywhere within the tunnel, for that matter.How fixated on looks can a Korean drama get? Well, I've gotten my answer - from the first minute of this drama until, presumably, the last. But I won't waste the rest of my time on such a toxic, tired, shallow message that feels like it came from the mind of someone so insecure, image-focused, and delusional that every thought is judged upon looks and consumed by vanity.
It makes me so angry that, of all the wonderful stories to tell in the world, money, time, and effort is put into sh*t like this.

My opinion of why this is a horrible drama
I watched the first episode but I couldn't get into it.. I think that this show could have been way better. One problem was that I couldn't figure out if the show was serious at certain times. Like there would be a funny scene but it had serious music :/ I also felt like things were very rushed in the first episode. For example, A man dies at the start, he gets reincarnated but right after, he is running everywhere looking for his ex-girlfriend then, his friend Go se Yeon dies and he revives her. OMG!!! Superficial to the core!
So I ended up painfully making it through the first episode only to completely stop watching episode 2.The one thing I can't stand is a show basing itself off of someone's looks!!! I felt this bashing all people who aren't up to the handsome or the drop dead gorgeous and beautiful look degrading. Even the synopsis is superficial.
As anyone who has maybe read any of my reviews know is that I immediately stray away from Korean rom-coms because of how superficial and arrogant a character is.
I've watched several Korean dramas with Ahn Se Ha-had to copy and paste cuz I suck at names-and he's a great actor. I felt so bad when I realized they made him out to be short and ugly. How cruel can the writer be?? I don't understand why he took on a role that bashes him cuz of his looks. The main male lead was NOTHING to look at. His mouth looked like botox gone wrong. I'm not saying that to be mean but this guy looked like he had work done on his face. He couldn't even cry right because he couldn't stretch his face to cry.
Here's why I dropped this drama altogether. The second episode picked up the seething factor I had when the first episode ended. The female who was the dead prosecutor who came back to life was angry because the dead guy who came back to life came back handsome and she came back looking like what she looked like. I don't judge females but she was pretty. I hated the attitude the original female prosecutor had. Men lining up just to be with her because of her looks....yeah...I was so done after that.
The story line was all over the place as well. From what I gathered people died and came back with different looks....I don't know the reason behind that but it was enough to make me drop the series.
It's sad because I have dropped around 5 dramas within a month and I have never done that since I've come to watch Korean dramas.

Las actuaciones de Park Bo Young y de Ahn Hyo-seop son fantásticas y hay química entre ellos, por lo que no decepcionan
Lo que decepciona es el guión. Donde empieza con un proyecto interesante, va liándose absurdamente con la idea de llenar capítulos. Es lento, aburrido y en ocasiones repetitivo. Con cuatro o cinco capítulos menos hubiese tenido el dinamismo de enganchar al espectador
En principio no la recomendaría, pero las interpretaciones hacen que merezca la pena; y ya no sólo las de sus protagonistas. Actores como Lee Si-Un o Song Sang-Eun relegados más a un segundo plano, completan un bonito esquema que dejan que la serie merezca la pena la oportunidad de verse

Se non ci fosse stato l'Abyss sarebbe stato meglio.
Sono nata e cresciuta guardando crime e posso giurarvi che alla lunga questo drama mi ha stancato.La storia, post rinascita, segue la caccia al serial killer che ha preso particolarmente di mira uno dei due protagonisti, poiché ne aveva causato la morte. Il problema più grande nel catturarlo sta nel fatto che anche lui è stato riportato in vita dall'Abyss e ha "cambiato" aspetto.
Nel minestrone di rinascite cascheranno diversi personaggi che ruotano attorno ai protagonisti e che francamente non ho capito.
Secondo le regole dell'Abyss, questo oggetto è capace di riportare in vita una persona ma con l'aspetto della sua anima.
Ma allora perché Cha Min ha le fattezze di uno che non si è mai visto mentre Go Se-yeon di una ragazza che conosce? Perché qualcuno invecchia mentre qualcun altro è sempre uguale?
Boh.
Questa cosa non viene minimamente spiegata, ma tutto ciò gioca a favore del drama, perché ciò lo fa dilungare a dismisura giustificando una durata di 16 episodi con avvenimenti e introduzione di personaggi che potevano stare dov'erano visto l'uso che ne è stato fatto.
Sarebbe stata più breve senza l'Abyss.
Ma sicuramente più bella.
È stato il mio "amore" per il crime che mi ha spinto a portarlo a termine, perché dopo 12 episodi volevo mollarlo.
All'inizio mi aveva anche intrigato parecchio, poi mi sono cascate le braccia.

una historia que terminó decepcionándome.
story / characters: 6.5⸺ la premisa de la historia era muy interesante y la idea en general tenía mucho que dar, pero siento que no fue manejado de una forma correcta, no recuerdo la mayoría de lo que paso y no recuerdo el final tampoco, tuve que leer reseñas de cada episodio para lograr armar una opinión completa. conclusión, lo sentí eterno, lento a más no poder y aunque el primer episodio fue un poco divertido con los cameos de seo inguk y jung somin, al final termina siendo otro drama más, nada demasiado bueno o memorable, un drama comercial, y uno de mis conflictos principales es que se supone que el artefacto mágico “abyss” te resucita con la apariencia que tiene tu alma y lo entiendo perfectamente, pero el hecho de que a go seyeon no le gustase cha min antes de que consiguiera ese aspecto de hombre guapo, me parece un poco superficial en cierto sentido, insinuando que solo las personas bonitas conseguirán pareja y aumentando los estereotipos, fuera de eso, su historia de amor es normal, no la recuerdo con cariño y puedo asegurar que no llore ni me conmovió en ningún sentido.

⸺ la verdad es que me dejaron esperando más, en ese momento park boyoung ya había actuado en strong woman do bong soon, por lo que su actuación en este drama me dejo un poco decepcionada, considero que es por la historia y por cómo fue creada su personaje que su actuación no me convenció, y sobre ahn hyoseop para ese momento no tenía dramas muy populares, pero comparando con el presente, su actuación no es para nada igual a la que mostró en a business proposal, un drama romántico y cómico también; considero que se debe al cómo la historia se desarrollo que en realidad los actores no pudieron mostrar una actuación sobresaliente o memorable. todos los actores que participaron son buenos y quedé un poco decepcionada en general; la producción y los visual fx salvaron un poco en general, considero que en esa parte si hicieron un buen trabajo.

⸺ no hay mucho que decir, el ost tampoco me convenció mucho, consta de varias canciones en las cuales se encuentran: into the abyss de suran y coogie, fallin’ de kim feel y stay de bohyung kim, si la historia no me convence, no me conmueve o emociona de ninguna manera, es bastante probable que el ost me de absolutamente igual.
rewatch value: 5.8
⸺ es un tipo de drama que no me dan ganas de volver a verlo, no hay ningún tipo de sentimiento hacia el, sin embargo, no lo considero como el peor, pienso que fuera de eso hay aspectos rescatables, momentos que me sacaron al menos una risa (SPOILER: la escena donde seyeon y cha min se están besando y llega su mamá por lo que pasan a la habitación secreta, debo de admitir que me hizo sonreír y es la única escena que recuerdo), pero, no es el tipo de drama para mí, no lo disfrute y no volveré a verlo; considero que hay más dramas buenos que merecen ser vistos y valen el tiempo invertido más que este.

⸺ abyss es un drama raro, toda la temática es rara y te deja con varias preguntas que no son contestadas, no hay ningún plot-twist interesante y la etiqueta de ‘misterio’, considero que no le va muy bien. el romance de los protagonistas puede parecer dulce de cierto modo, y sí, tienen momentos en los que se ven bonitos juntos, pero para mí todo lo que engloba la historia es más importante que si el romance es bueno. me aburrió y pienso que es bastante lenta, no me hizo sentir nada, y lo único que me hizo feliz fueron los cameos de seo inguk y de jung somin, es una desgracia porque en realidad —como dije—, todos los actores son buenos y pienso que si les hubiesen dado un guión bueno y hecho una historia congruente, hubiese funcionado.
