Above all, it was the intelligent writing. This was a youth romcom, of which China seems determined to produce one for each of its 1.3 billion citizens. Unsurprisingly, most of them are indistinguishable forgettable clones when they are not excruciatingly awful. But when they get it right, they've REALLY get it right.
This drama respected and played by the tropes of the genre, but it did so with a gently amused and affectionate self-awareness. It had fun with the tropes, but it didn't mock them. It acknowledged the inherent silliness of the romcom tropes, but thanks to the chemistry of the leads and the gentle wit of the writing (at least as it came across in the subs I saw), this remained sweet and surprisingly insightful.
One of the obvious markers of difference for this drama is in the appearance of the female lead played by Wan Peng. Most of the cookie-cutter C dramas have interchangeable clones for their leads. At least eight out of every 10 female leads in this sort of drama looks like an ad for surgical perfection. Ms Wan on the other hand has a face which seems to have had little if any knife work, and perhaps even more remarkably she has noticeably imperfect teeth. I absolutely loved this. That she hadn't been airbrushed or surgically transformed made it easier to accept her delivery of her character, and it was a great character.
A lot of C dramas are at best patronisingly chauvinistic, and at worst misogynistic, in the way they treat the female leads – as delicate flowers who need to be protected. Often this is reflected in the excruciating dubbing that they use - some high-pitched childlike voice regardless of the actor's own voice or the appearance of the actor, the need to show the female lead is some sort of adult. This drama on the other hand showed the female lead picking the male lead up and carrying him on her shoulders. There was a whole arc in the middle of the drama celebrating the right of strong, fit, athletic women to be proud of who they are regardless of the narrowminded gossip that might be generated.
Right to the end this drama made me laugh and made me love the leads. The only reason I scored it 9/10 is because it should have been 20 episodes not 24. A little nip and tuck of the drama itself would have enhanced it. The other slight failing is not a much really a flaw just something I would have loved to have seen. I would have given the drama more points had the drama had a little bit more courage. It celebrated the strength of women who are strong physically strong athletic independent who can stand up for themselves and others. That was awesome, and I loved it. But the drama could have taken it a little bit further, could have really set itself well above the rest if it had demonstrated just a tiny bit more courage by doing something I have yet to see in this sort of drama.
There is a situation where the female lead faces a life changing challenge. Something happens that threatens her whole sense of identity and everything she's worked for. She gets through it, and the male leaders wonderfully supportive et cetera et cetera but it would have been really awesome if the lead who suffered that life changing challenge to their sense of identity in their goals and purpose in life had been the MALE lead. It's not that the male lead rescued the female lead, but she was the one that was threatened with losing everything that mattered most to and he supported her. Had the drama flipped THAT trope it would have been 9 1/2 at least.
In summary if you want to see what a romcom can be when it's done right, watch this drama!

A thrilling to watch
I like this drama! I really love their interactions;their smiles that makes you kilig every time whenever they are together and I really love the casts acting and performance. It is a high rate for me. I did not skip any episode as I enjoy watching this. It made my heart flutter whenever they have a scene as well as the he second couple Bai Yuze and Ding. I enjoy it a lot that I cannot state the words I needed to say! A must watch if you want nakakakilig na drama ( tagalog dialect)As a music lover I really appreciate the piece they performed ( episode 10). Additionally, Rile Wang's look and dimple made me hook also love the chemistry between him and Wan Peng! I am happy to watch both of my favorite actor and actress!

First Romance

Good Chemistry
Its a Series that U can watch if U want something that is not too Dramatic. The Story is very simple revolving the First Love...What I like most is the FRIENDSHIP they showed.. i missed my School friends when i was watching... the Parents also showed support.. I say that this Series is an OK to watch... simple yet enjoyable to watch...CHARACTER:
FL & ML has a natural Chemistry... they are sweet & U can feel the Love by just them looking at each other... (see the Behind The Scene in YT... they are really sweet) AND... the Male SECOND Lead... OMG... he looks sooo damn HOT!!! its his debut hope to see him more.... he is also good in acting with nice body & good face....
What disappoint me is the Music.. sometime the Music is louder that what the character is saying...
BTW, their performance when they joined the Classical with Rock is really Awesome....

Perfect starting with perfect ending
I dont how to explain the dramaBut i can say that this is truly nd simply perfect .. The starting , the dialogues, the expressions , the story is all perfect .. The most important one is the character's chemistry .

I FELL IN LOVE WITH THIS DRAMAThe main female lead makes every women in the world jealous!!!. WHY? because main female is so fucking lucky girl to be around a handsome guy and a hot guy. (K, forgive my fantasy) The story is very good and funny. for me this drama can't makes me tired or bored if i'am rewatch it for a few times. Because... idk this drama doesn't need any reason for not rewatch it. LOL. The side story at this drama as good as the main lead story. so you'll not be bored (what i mean is the 2nd male lead love story). this drama have a little thing that makes complicated plot so it's makes you more exited. At any rate, this drama is so good, I RECOMMEND THIS DRAMA FOR YOU especially for school romance lovers (although this drama based on college)

There is close to no plot here. The female lead motivation to do anything revolves around getting the male lead. The male lead is just a confused puppy with a little backbone. This can either bore or frustrate a lot of people. For me, it was a nice, chill and relaxing watch when I could just giggle about how cute, awkward and ridiculously childish some of the characters are. If you are like me, and you enjoy the drama simply because you like the characters a lot, maybe give it a go.
Closer to the end, we start to get more information about the characters as individuals, what their goals and dreams are and how they chase them. Bit too late if you ask me, but it was still fun to watch them deal with whatever came their way.
Xiong Yi Fan is a fun, honest and relatable girl. Yan Ke is so amazingly clueless it’s actually funny. Bai Yu Ze is a painful playboy that you just cannot hate and Ding Ming is a friend most of us would like to have. I even started adoring Tang Tang by the end.
That said, two aspects of the show disappointed me. First, I wished we could see more of Yu Ze and Ming. They had awesome energy together and their bickering was gold. Another thing, I was not a fan of the “trans” rumor sub-plot. I think they handled the topic in a poor manner.
Overall, everyone was beautiful, fun, entertaining and cute. I had a good time watching. Small things like the “interviews” at the end of some episodes were like cherries on top, that made this sweet cake even more delicious.

College Romance
First romance is very simply story, no high tension. You can binge watch in your home. You can fell the romance between the leads they are experiencing first time.I wanted FL to be more tomboy. Sometimes they showed her weak that no one can agree with the fact she was once tomboy.
I like chemistry between leads. Only fact i don't understand how ML realised the boy in his memory is none other than our FL. That part is still confusing to me.
Second male lead syndrome rarely happens in c drama. You can taste it in this drama. When i was watching i badly wanted SML to end up with FL. This is ken wu first drama. His acting is real(I mean better than riley wang). It's not like riley wang's acting is poor he is fit for this role.
Other thing i want to compliant is I wanted more scenes for second couple. They don't have much romantic scenes.
OST is good. Chance song which is sung by riley wang caught my attention.
Overall i will give 9/10. You can enjoy first romance if you don't want much drama.

I highly recommend this drama because the chemistry of the two main characters is very good, the story is simple but full of meaning and there are many good messages in this drama, the storyline is really easy to understand, very suitable to watch when you dont have much time to relax. Warm and cozy!!
I was waiting for this ever since it was announced to be coming soon mainly because of Wang Peng. After watching its trailer I was super excited to watch it because it was so cute warm and cozy. I watched 21 episodes in one go (one day) and loved it.Ealier I read in one review that the female lead doesn't have much to her character other than the fact that she is a javlien throw athlete. But I found her character very intriguing. She is always there for her friends, is easygoing, has eyes for one person and is consistent and is always true to her feelings. I loved her character and her gang of friends. Though she was underconfident during her high school, her character growth shown throughout the series is great.
The love story protrayed is so cute with extra sweet moments, jealous moments, funny moments all blended beautifully. I felt all good, happy and warm within.
Also many people are complaining because the confession took so long. That's the beauty of it. I know they set eyes on each other since the very beginning but love is all about cultivating. The more you stay together the more you know each other and if you confess it in the very beginning there will be awkwardness somewhere. I think becoming best friends first is very important.
Loved it and would definitely recommend to all.
ITS ALL FEEL GOOD ROMANTIC C-DRAMA you won't regret watching.

Extra Episode Warning :)
Yoyo English channel updated that there are 3 premieres on youtube for tomorrow for this drama, tho I am a little confused that there's an extra episode which is Ep 25 ~ Special Scene so it's making me curious as to what's gonna happen in Episode 25.In my opinion, I think that this drama is the best one I've watched so far since it's a romance drama. I love romantic stories. The storyline to this got me very interested and is watchable on repeat. I don't know what to say really since this is my 1st ever review of this drama so be polite if commenting.
