The kitchen is on fire. Gu Sheng Nan runs to get water. In the meantime, a man in a suit casually arrives on scene. He looks up at the non-functioning sprinklers. Calmly, he lights up his cigar to activate them. However, Sheng Nan thinks he’s the arsonist. The guy does look way too calm amidst the blazing scene. Sheng Nan pours an entire bucket of water on him. It’s immediately apparent to her that she may have misunderstood. Without speaking at all, he motions for her bowl. With the bowl over his head, he activates the sprinklers. As he leaves, he puts the bowl on her head. This man is Lu Jin. Lu Jin is the new to-be-boss of the hotel Sheng Nan works at. He was utterly disappointed in the food up until Sheng Nan’s shrimp fried rice. After tasting it, he’s in heaven. He requests to see the chef. Unfortunately, because of the fire she took responsibility for when it wasn’t her fault, she was fired. Lu Jin and Sheng Nan’s next encounter is in his red luxurious Ferrari. She was supposed to destroy the car for her friend. But she got the wrong car. Again, she’s in the wrong. She tries to get out of the awkward situation by pretending to be Korean. Lu Jin doesn’t miss a beat and replies in Korean. He knows more than her. Sheng Nan promises to compensate. There’s flour all over the front of his car. Sheng Nan blows at the flour and it washes Lu Jin’s face white. She calls him ‘uncle’ which offends him. She tells him to write down a number so that she can pay him back with. Neither of them have paper. Feeling guilty, she tilts her face upwards toward him so that he can write it on her forehead. He’s affected by her proximity. Lu Jin tells her to turn around. He writes on her bag instead. He leaves in his car. The moment he accelerates, there's another wave of flour. Lu Jin calls his mother to tell her about the hotel acquisition. He asks her mother if there’s anything else she wants to talk about. Natta. Today is actually his birthday. He’s celebrating it alone with ramen but later decides to treat himself out. Fate has it that he shows up at Sheng Nan’s grandfather’s restaurant. He falls in love with her food again. He walks into the kitchen, curious to see the chef. He sees her back. She’s putting her hair into a bun with a spoon. The grandfather rushes into the kitchen and catches him. Sheng Nan scurries out because she sneaked into the kitchen too. She drops the spoon from her hair. Lu Jin picks it up. (Source- Cyn Lynn)

Some good some bad.

The first episode is a bit of a mixed bag. On the negative side, the 'humor' used to setup the initial conflict is very forced and cringe to the point of just not really being funny. Kinda stupid even. BUT ... the episode is still overall fun and enjoyable as it smoothly establishes some beautiful cooking scenes as a staple of the show, two lovely protagonists and the small cast of characters around them.
