Story lines are so far not that bad, easy to follow and understand.
Male lead and second male lead have a great chemistry with Female lead.
A group of other actresses and actors play very well with every scenes.
Every song matches well with every scenes.
Many people complained with female hair colors, but there are many dramas nowadays they dye with same color, but they don't complain, they complained with her hair style in this drama.
As viewer just don't need to pay attentions with little small things.
As a viewers, they need to enjoy to watch the show, don't spoil too much for deep details and turn it out for negative.
So overall, I think this drama is worth to watch. It won't get bored to re watch.
All of actresses and actors play very well with their roles. Congratulations to whole cast!!!!

Enjoyable

Although it started out a little slow and I wasn’t sure this was going to be a good rom-com, it turned into one that I very much enjoyed. The ML and FL were great together and the love and trust between them progressed at a good pace. The ML got a little silly and out of character at first, but then he settled down and it became an enjoyable romance. The drama was fairly easy to follow as to the corrupt and evil plotting that occurred. Sometimes I was a bit confused but eventually it all fell into place. There were a few too many female characters chasing the ML for me, but it was only a small distraction. The support characters were great. Yan Yan and Lian Pian were cute together…would like to have seen them through to their happily ever after instead of just assuming the outcome. But even so, they were good as the second couple. The ending wasn’t as rushed as most Cdramas are, and that was a pleasant surprise. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to see a not so complicated rom-com, with a bit of martial arts thrown in, along with some drama included. But that’s just me!

Watch and make your own opinion. The bad reviews doesn't do justice to that Cdrama.

I absolutely LOVED this cdrama!!!
I don't care what people say it's a ten for me and here's why:

1. In a century where society is dominated by male, her father raised her to be a confident and strong woman. Her opinions mattered, he let her speak her own mind and exercise her own decisions.

2. The couple! They are just great together! They do everything hand in hand together. No nonsense like: "my actions seems mean and it looks like I betrayed you but I'm doing this to protect you even if you don't know". He respects her and her intelligence, and he includes her in everything, in every plan. He doesn't see her like a damsel in distress who needs to be saved. They protect each other. This is what a power couple looks like to me, trust and respect. They communicate, they don't take drastic measures on their own with the pretext of "protecting the other", and this is how they vanquish the enemy in the end.

3. I don't understand why people complain about her choosing the male lead over the second male lead, with the excuse that the second male lead did a lot for her. In what world one is oblige to answer positively to another one's feelings? She was sincere in her friendship to him and she never leaded him on. He hasn't done nothing for her that she wouldn't have done for him to. She told her straight on that she doesn't love him and that she love the male lead. She didn't play with his feelings. You should criticize him because under all of that friendship, he was waiting for something in return. His friendship was never sincere in the first place, because when she said no, he tried to kill her. How can you hurt someone you love? That kind of power hungry man who doesn't take, no for an answer, from a woman exist in real life and we know very damn well what they end up being.

Too Much Villain View Point and too many production mistakes

Costuming: 2
Chemistry between leads:4

I've been thoroughly impressed by the beauty of the wigs and costumes used even in low-budget dramas so needless to say was absolutely stunned when I saw the poor job done on the ML (Xu Kai Cheng) in this one. He looked gorgeous in Pet in Dali Temple and Novoland: Pearl Eclipse, as well as the trailer to Love is an Accident, so I know he can look good in ancient garb. But here, the clothes detracted from his looks and not only gave him that popular physique known as dad-bod but actually aged him a good few years. This was due to a poor choice of colors/cut for the costumes and color/style of the wig. There were scenes when his hair was up and the costumes more sleekly styled when he looked like himself but for most of them his sleeves seemed out of control, his hair looked unkempt and his overall form seemed sloppy. The costume mistress/master really is to blame for that.

Both leads are adorable and well worth celebrating as rom-com actors but perhaps due to the poor costuming of the ML or just the general vibe between Xu Kai Cheng and Zhao Lu Si there was a definite older brother/younger sister vibe between our hero and heroine rather than a romantic one. They have that same chemistry in their interviews so perhaps they just couldn't overcome it but whatever the cause, I didn't feel the love.

Spoilers ahead for the ending: All of that might have been overcome if not for the endless scenes depicting the villain and giving his monotonous story screen time. He was equal in the number of appearances in the tale to that of the hero and heroine and was so completely and utterly despicable I breathed a sigh of relief when he died. He had zero nuance and zero redemptive factors. The actor was good but there was just too much of this character in our story.

Following the dream and making it Real while finding true love.

I enjoyed this drama and the cast did a wonderful job and i found new stars to watch the set design and clothing were perfect to the scenes. This storyline is of a girl Sang Qi (FL) who grew up on the Frontline she was a fun persons, smart in her own way, cleaver, strong wilde to fight for the truth always and has military training so doesn't act like a rich girl. She arrives in bainjing and see a hourse carriage running fast on purpose and a girl in the street so she stop the horse and save the girl, but Song Jia Yin (2FL) yells you ruined my plan who are you Sang Qi she says then all of a sudden Yan Yun Zhi (ML) comes out and stares at her" when she says doesn't anyone say thanks and leaves. She goes to eat and has a private room when someone starts yelling so she goes out & meets 2FL who trys to pull rank with Sang name and they argue about ML and make a bet who can gives him a pouch 1st by harvest moon day. She there. to joins the Imperial college to finish her brother Sang Yu dream of a school opened to anyone be it male/female, rich/poor it didnt matter as long as they wanted to learn for a better future. She gets the emperor ok, but the school Deputy Cheif-ML and school master Frey was still skeptical about her ability so they give her a test and she passes and is allowed to join and placed in the yellow group which is the lowest of classes Sky, terre, black, yellow. Her friend from back home Zhou Wen Yuan (2ML)who in the Sky class and has a crush on her so he desides to be near and protect her and enters the yellow class. She has a misunderstanding with some guys in her class due a misunderstanding that yan yan(2ML) thinks she like him due to a pouch misplaced by bai shi ML aide. He thinks she made fun so tries to get her back with Song Luo tian & wei zhan hong and land in the water then she take ML in he's mad so the guy tell her extra uniforms are in back when there she see trap and instead they all get caught. The next day is shooting arrow on house back a2ML goes first, but the horse is spooked and his foot is stuck in saddle so she shoots arrow & saves him and they becomes great friends. Still mad SLT & WZH see FL cooking for ML to say sorry, but WZH puts powder in meal then she brings to ML, but he refuses and as eats telling him its so good she gets dizzy a d looks drunk as she approaches him she collapses and then kisses him and blacks out. The next day upon her waking up they find out she was poison and it was the same poison used on her brother so with the help of Grand Perceptor Yan San Long and ML who have been investing Sang Yu murder for a few years and she learns that ML was YU's BF and so the 3 start working together with all the clues and putting the puzzle together.
This is as far as I'll tell you outline spoilers. The story continue with romance and jeousley, fun adventures and some sad. People are killed unnecessary and some worth it. There are clues everywhere just need to look and pay attention to patterns. There are scandal, there are parts you yell at TV and then remember its in the script LOL.
I hope you enjoy it just like me.

I really didn't think this story made sense but.....

I really wanted to enjoy this drama because I do like most of Zhao Lu Si's shows. I love how she can be silly in a lot of her dramas cause she is really good at it without it being so annoying that you want to turn the show off. There were things I liked about this drama it will make you laugh and it does have some pretty cute moments in it but where they really lost me was the last 10 episodes.

Why I liked this drama: All the actors did great playing their roles with the story they were given even the second male lead that will annoy you through most of the show, but he plays his character really well that you can't be to mad at him. There are also parts that will make you laugh and that you will find cute. So the Drama is really lighthearted for the most part.

Why I disliked this drama: Number one answer the STORY it just went everywhere it was like the director didn't know what way he wanted this drama to go and there were scenes that just didn't make any sense what so ever but they threw it in it anyway. Another reason is like I have already stated the second male lead he is really annoying through the whole thing. At times it would seem that the show was a bit more about him then anything he was in almost every scene ( So good thing he could play his part well) he literally can't take no for an answer. Even though you won't root for the second male lead through this at all I also felt he had more chemistry with Zhao Lu Si then Xu Kai Cheng.

So overall I wouldn't recommend this drama just because of the story but if you are someone who can look past that and just enjoy the actors then I think you would enjoy this drama.

This will be short because many have spoken beforehand. I’m rating this high for the fact that I find the leads totally in sync with chemistry. I’ve watched so many dramas where the pull and push of leads keep viewers hanging by the thread just to see them get together at end after enduring eye rolling nonsense. Here, I love that he chases after supposed cold demeanor. Their cuteness, readily acceptance of mutual feelings is what I enjoyed. The first twenty episodes had so many sweet bantering fun moments that if they inserted the last episode as twenty first and ended, it would of been perfect for me. The story itself isn’t bad, female student in an all male school, her influence for good with various opposition. Kudos to entire cast but Xu Kai and Zhao Lusi perfectly matched up to give us a treat to the perfect romance. I’ll definitely go back to rewatch the first twenty episodes.

Super. Worth watching. :) :)

The super drama drew me in so much that I watched it until later in the night because I couldn't tear myself away. Zhao Lu Si playing the main character was fantastic. And Xu Kai Cheng playing the main character was also fantastic. There was a so-called chemistry between them. They matched each other in the drama. Zhao Lu Si in every drama plays great whether it is a contemporary drama or a historical drama super. Xu Kai Cheng for me is more suited to histotic dramas and contemporary dramas are also cool. In one word, drama is fantastic, it's worth watching. I give a rating of 10/10 with an asterisk. I rarely give such an assessment to dramas. Enjoy watching.

Too Confusing and Out of Place

I couldn't keep watching this as the pacing, the dialogue/writing, the music, and the acting felt misplaced.

While I lasted only 7 episodes out of 30, there were just too many things that confused me enough not to be able to watch any further.

I'm not sure how much they were trying to "immerse" the viewers in this period piece but I felt like some of the bass music in the background was so out of place for its timeline setting. A lot of the time, the music just didn't fit. There was so much bass pumping out in the background, I was practically expecting some kind of dance to break out all of a sudden.

Other things that minutely bothered me were things like the storyline and plot. They would add these stupid clichés at the most inappropriate times. For example, the FL gets poisoned and of course, she acts all funny due to the "hallucinogens" in the poison which leads her to kiss the ML. But then she's later so sick that she's near death. One minute we're supposed to find it funny and "cute" and then they expect the audience to feel the gravity of her almost dying? I was just scratching my head. There was another scene where she fights off 4 assassins, gets a cut on her leg, and just when you think she's done for, some mysterious old man comes with a stick to beat them off and then disappears. Then she goes home limping and her father is barely enraged or concerned, so it downplays the seriousness of what almost happened. She also brags about it in class. Every time they have a serious scene, there's something that just makes a joke of it almost.

Another thing is Zhao Lusi... don't get me wrong, I like her and all but I think she's falling into the small kind of roles over and over again. I'm getting tired of her doing the same kind of cliché acting... her slo-mo looking at the male lead, falling into his lap, overly smiling, and let's not talk about her fake laughs. It was so bad here. Then every time they showed a close-up of her, I was just so distracted by her brown-highlighted hair that I felt like I was watching a very modern actress acting in a period timepiece. I was like, "Wow, they had brown highlights back then..."

No matter what period it was in, they can't fool some of us who know it's really about a teacher and a student falling in love. The long title really had nothing to do with her being the first female to enter an Imperial College. 7 episodes were enough for me.

Can't trust the reviews

The reason I gave this series a chance was the reviews. Now I'm sorry I didn't believe the ones with the poor ratings. I don't think I will complete the entire series because there is really nothing about this show that is enticing or appealing. I like the actors in other roles they have played, but even they cannot save the awful writing or the storyline in this drama, no matter how hard they try.

The characters are unimpressive, and the FL's talents are wasted on the role of an irritating child bouncing around like Suzy Sunshine, against the (in my opinion) inappropriate connection with her teacher. The sudden turn of the SML from childhood friend and supporter to evil villain, well maybe deserve kudos to the actor for his portrayal but as a story line? Not believable.

I picked this series up out of desperation for something to watch on the weekend, but now that the weekend is almost over, I will drop it before it's done because I can't find a reason to stay. Next time I think I will take the reviews with a grain of salt and NOT believe everything I read.
