Three Stars

people be calling Judah's attitude sarcastic, no he a total b*tch...at times LOL. but as mentioned already, he pushes people away before they can do that to him. it's not easy to get close too, or even want to get close to, people like this. but this just goes to show's u that they've been through sh*t. and we have gotten tons of hints from his semi-stories, about his family situation. plus have to admit, both mother and grandmother r kinda annoying. he Not a baby, but they insist on babying him (i get that they care/worry. but to me - and this just the 2nd ep - it comes of "over") which is kinda suffocating. and that grandmother with the overly lovey dovey attitude is overbearing and annoying. know her type exist, and yet she a total caricature (sorry, but as in bad-joke). *****************************************************************************************************************************so growing-up in that type of environment, let alone everything we can guess at, little wonder he got his guard is up. yeah still hard to love his character - cause not everyone likes the spoilt brat personality (in addition to everything else), that thinks they can act however, say whatever without any consequences. so i get why he's getting judged harshly. but ironically i don't dislike Ju like i did Cairo from Gameboy's (now he was an over entitled spoilt brat, that from start to finish though he was a gift from god to humanity, and as Gav initiated contact and wooed him - it was his job, to pursue and baby that annoying brat till the end of time). here Ju might be abrasive at times, but he has moments where u see, how vulnerable he really is - like at the end, that hug was more seeking comfort and kinda heart breaking... it slayed me cause finally u see the truth - him without the bravado and bitchy come-backs - just a hurting soul seeking comfort and warmth from another, felt that in my soul ugh. *************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************Rocky is also opening up and warming up to Ju - even ignoring some of his bitchyness (cause Ju didn't backstab him, but wrote his name on the pass) and yet it's baby steps with Rocky. but he's warming too Ju and even though he doesn't say a lot, u know from the little he does - that he also a hurting soul - cause that hug at the end - he needed that as much as Ju did. that moment of humanity - pure - soul touching, without farce.... ******************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************side note - really love Beshie - he a true friend and a great one at that he doesn't sugar coat things but tell u like it is and gives good advise. Ju lucky to have him - well at least he got one great person in his corner. cause from what i've seen of his family i have my reservations (pointed out above)....

Raw

Royce is consistently raw and faultless in his acting, but Kyo is getting better here. And I can see chemistry na. The story unfolds at a steady pace but never lacks the formula of an interesting watch. It was never boring. That 21 minutes felt like 5 lang kasi sa fluid flow ng story, thanks to the writer. And that last scene, it wasn’t really just a kilig moment (actually it’s not one to me), rather a mugto moment for me. Kasi they both have these heavy burdens and only each other to turn to. Best part is that the getting to know each other phase for them is never forced. It’s a raw need and longing to be with someone who can relate, who can understand. 5 ⭐️ s!

Quaranthings: The Series (2020) Episode 2: Alcohol

I like the pace of Quaranthings: The Series. It's not too fast and it's not too slow. It seemed fit for an 8-episode series. The plot/storyline progressed smoothly on Episode 2: Alcohol. Character backgrounds for both Judah and Rocky were established. Contexts were clear with real-life issues like family disagreements, competitive school environment, employment, and navigating through the pandemic. Yes, we don't condone stealing but we can understand where the recently fired Rocky was coming from. The way the rich were treated as the other in this episode, somehow, I feel there's some class consciousness in this series. Screenplay was relatable. There were socially sensible lines about being poor (It's hard to be poor in this country), internalized homophobia (Do you have some type of internalized homophobia?), sexual harassment (I hate people who sexually harass others), etc. Although not as funny as last week's script, there were still some humorous dialogues. Acting was generally on point. Kyo was good in the comedic scenes but he still needs to improve in the more dramatic parts. His scenes with Royce were cute and endearing. And the last scene was heartwarming. Audio-visuals were ok but editing needs to be smoother. Overall, Episode 2 was a very good episode.
