Wanting to protect Mei Lin from Jing He, Yue Qin decides to side with Xuan Lie but must carry out a task for him to prove his loyalty. He also asks Zi Gu to convince the Emperor that Mei Lin should not be ennobled to Jing He and stay with her at Fang Hua palace instead. Mei Lin mistakes Yue Qin’s task for Jing He’s intended plan, which upsets her and causes a rift between them. Meanwhile, the Emperor tries to betroth Luo Mei to Jing He.
