This show is simply perfect. The intensity between the characters is palpable—you can feel it just through their eyes. Both male leads are absolutely perfect for their roles, bringing the characters to life in a way that feels both authentic and powerful.

Each episode delivers a deep sense of satisfaction, drawing you in more and more. The chemistry, the acting, and the emotional depth all combine to create a truly engaging experience. This is easily one of the best series of 2024, and I can't recommend it enough.

Sure to warm your heart

The On1y One is an achingly sweet slow burn about two boys. One is the new kid in class, Sheng Wang. He’s adorable and eager but struggling with the aftereffects of the loss of his mother. The other, Jiang Tian, is an observant, aloof class favorite with a tender heart that he tries to hide. These boys are not just classmates but begin living together since their parents are dating. They are drawn to each other early on, and quietly grow closer and open up. Their interactions are heart fluttering to watch.

This series is more than a romance. It's about the growing pains of adolescence, the development of earnest friendship, and the love and support of family. There's a nostalgic and sincere tone to each episode. You can tell that a lot of heart has been put into its production.

It's based on a book, which has a happy ending. Be forwarded however that the series ends at a mid point and leaves the door open for a season 2.

I loved everything about this series. It isn’t glossy or overproduced. There’s no exaggerated acting. No intrusive sound effects. From the director of Your Name Engraved Herein, you can tell he took a naturalistic approach to the story and production. High schoolers act like high schoolers and struggle with issues that are age-appropriate like grades and making friends. The two main leads are a pleasure to watch. Both have the gift of delivering micro-expressions that convey so much meaning.

the best bl of 2024

ik it's too soon to say that, but personally? i loved this series so much. i love when the chemistry starts to blossom little by little. the pace of this drama is great, actors make the chemistry look very natural and realistic. their dynamics is silly rather than forced and corny. im very picky when it comes to romance, and trust me you will not regret watching this. i love slow burns so much and i can't stress this enough how well put together the series is.

Must watch and rewatch

Generally high school stories are stereotype and have a similar pattern of first love and all but this story is excellent in all feild like emotions, sportsmanship and bounding between students. Main leads lacks dependency since childhood but stillp reretends very strong before others. This drama is must watch. I personally wants season 2. I personally feels that this series put it's self on the same plate form with all history seasons. I really enjoy it this gave mixed emotions of sadness, love and hope-hope of being together again.

Season Two is a Necessity!

I adore the two leads, their overflowing chemistry and how well written their story is. Jiang Tian is such a sweet, earnest and avid protector who loves through service and deeds which is so noble and admirable; Sheng Wang is such a koala bear, I love seeing him get all clingy and I hope (when) season two comes he'll embrace his honesty more openly. I have stood by too often and seen beautiful stories disappear thinking it was inevitable but our response is what keeps these characters alive and I can no longer stand idle as such a beautiful story disappears because not enough people stood up to support it. I hope beyond hope there will be a confirmed season two so their story will be complete and they get their happy ending!

Most realistic BL series

What I find amazing about this series is the complications of being in a boy-love-boy relationship. It's slow, yes, but it is very true to real-life experiences of gay people. Falling for a guy is not as easy as saying, 'Hey, I'm gay. Will you date me?' It's not easy; I know this all too well from personal experience. I had unrequited love for a presumably 'straight' guy for nearly six years before I gave up, but the feelings still linger. It would have been easier if he had just said he's straight or whatever, but it's hard when you both know you have feelings yet can't come forward with them. We have to take into account that it was 2012 when it was probably not as acceptable, and it was in an Asian country. The feelings Jiang Tian had for Sheng Wang are very real, yet Sheng Wang, in the end, couldn't understand or accept them because Tian is his brother. It wouldn't have mattered as much if they weren't family, but Jiang Tian got 'brotherzoned' in the end. Sheng Wang, confused with his feelings, most likely decided to fail his exam so that he could get away from Jiang Tian because he couldn't face the truth that he had fallen for a boy. And Jiang Tian being upset is way too real; when I watched that scene, I was hyperventilating because the feeling was so true for me. It's like, 'I know you like me and we like each other, but why can't you admit it? Why are you trying to run away?' That kind of stuff. Overall, this series touched my heart deeply, and I would love to see how it all works out in season 2.

It is about family and making hard choices in life

In the drama you see two young boys going through challenges in their life. One lost his mother and the other one always running away. But they found each other. I love the bond that they have and I love that it took time for them to really trust each other and that is life. It is not going to be as simple as looking at each other and falling in love. They grow and see how important they are to one another. The acting was phenomenal. And even though the ending made you wanting more, I think that was the point to make the International fans fight for a season 2. Which I am all for it and if you liked the drama enough you can wait for a second season. I just felt so happy, sad and angry watching this drama, which means it was amazing!. I fell in love with the actors and characters that they played and I hope that people enjoyed watching it as much as I did.

Engaging

"The Only One" is a beautifully crafted series that will leave viewers emotionally invested and yearning for more. It's a must-watch for anyone who appreciates genuine storytelling .I have read the novel and i think both lead gave justice to the character and their personality specifically "Benjamin " who played the character "jian tiang". ??...hopefully there is season 2 to see how story unfolds.

MASTERPIECE! Highly recommended!

1000/10! One of the BEST BL -> 2024

Mou mou is my favorite! This is a fantastic adaptation! It is precisely the same as the novel, even though it is still only half of the plot (about chapters 50 or ~> 60 (*ending, episode 12*) of 112).
I'm hoping for a second season!!

Highly recommended! Masterpiece!

This is just the beginning.

The On1y One, will take us back to the age of high school teen, the age of learning, trying, and finding the answer of every incoming to your life. This drama shows us the great story teller, music, chemistry of every character in a frame (perfect casting for every characters too!). The story going not too fast and not too slow, so we can get to know more about these 2 main characters, Sheng Wang and Jiang Tian with smooth. I hope this great drama can be make for the next season. because this is just the beginning. I hope that those who have never watched this drama will give it a try.

Simple slow burn done right

This won't be a long review.
The whole story was beautifully made, every emotion so well expressed. Never have I ever been so endeared and impressed by the attention to the chaotic simplicity of adolescence. It took me back to my school days where we would spend our days trying to study for board exams, and cherish and also feel the intensity of emotions in the little time we had in school with our friends.

While I do agree that the pacing and story line in some areas could have been better, the exceptional supporting cast made it all better. Also the 'very moment' section at the end of some episodes was so cute!!
Lastly, kudos to the actors, Benjamin and LDQ, who made this what it is.

Can't wait for season 2!!
