A distinct storyline! Is that too much to ask?
Ladies and gentlemen, I’m officially fed up with these recurring stories. They may as well just make one drama and give it different names. It’s frustrating at this point, the acting, the storyline, the actors themselves, and the CGI to be fair has always been at it and you’ve got to give credit where it’s due. For me, C-drama is on a proper downhill and pretty much has been for the past couple of years.The genre XianXia is enormous, and you cannot tell me each time we’ll have to watch repeats of other dramas, it’s so cliché having to watch a drama and being able to predict what is gonna happen. What happened to the impressive voices, eye-catching Male and female leads, the distinguished storylines like Journey of Flower? And I’ll just say it, this thing of petulant and trying-to-be-funny actors has to stop, it’s boring and it gets annoying at times with how long it carries on and how much screen time it takes up. As for the FL, I’m a huge fan of Zhao Lusi when she’s playing a role that brings the best out of her, Who Rules the World directors understood that perfectly, and for me that was her best-ever performance I have seen to this day. The ML lead does not fit this role, or the storyline doesn’t fit the ML, whichever way you want to put it, he shouldn’t be playing this role and that storyline is mid. The turning point is what is doing my headin’ the most. It was just like any other normal scene and all of a sudden it was something huge. Come on! Where’s the build-up? I get no feeling that something story-changing is about to happen.
And before I even forget, what was this writer thinking about when he decided to hand us a ML with such little spiritual power? He’s a true god for God’s sake!!
Personally, I’ll keep on watching this scrap and I have to anyway because I have no other drama to watch but I highly advise you to do something more productive with your time. I haven’t found this drama interesting enough to keep me exuberant waiting for the next episode. It’s instead just happened to be another of many failures of the C-drama industry this year.

Sorry I tried....
This drama just not for me....Story found boring.... Not original.... Not a fantastic storyline....
Zhao Lusi, look she has been in better dramas with much stronger presence.... This for me personally not one of her best roles.... Acting is okay but just a step down....
Wang Anyu really bad.... Childish role.... So much better with Gina Jin in 'Falling Into You'.... That drama felt very good performance by him....
I seen many people are enjoying the drama so if you are one who is enjoying please continue to watch and enjoy.... Just wasn't for me. Still fan of both Zhao Lusi and Wang Anyu as I have seen them before in many great dramas, I tried however can't force myself with this drama anymore....

My first ever Xianxia drama
This is my first Xianxia drama because its not my cup of tea but TLI honestly did not disppointed me. Its great and fun to watch. Both lusi and wang anyu acting is superb. Lusi acting comedy and cute at the same time and also Wang Anyu too. I'm waiting for the angst episode as they say. The CGI and the costumes are very good, excellent actually. The story line and script are easily to understand. the OST is also great wang anyu and zhao lusi singing and also silence wang. Can’t wait for more episodes to be released.Kudos to all The Last Immortal cast & crews

A Magnetic Xianxia
I was blown away with the production, casting and storyline of this drama.Its sheer entertertainment value cannot be denied.
I have to commend the costume designer for the beautiful clothes of the characters, especially the female cast. The colour is vibrant in pastel which pleasing to the eye. The hairstyle is immaculate as well.
#ZhaoLusi is getting better and better. I am so glad she is choosing dramas that are well worth the time of viewers.
Totally recommend this drama to anyone.

Best drama..Good music .. I like Zhao Lusi ..Her drama never dissapoint me..Her chemistry with Wang Anyu is the best.This plot i like so much. I love to watch this split character. She can be cute also she can be strict. For me she is one of the best Chinese Actress . I love how she act. She can carry a lot of character. ..I dont know why many people jelouse. Maybe because she is so good and chemistry among male lead is so high. she can partner with so many male actor. She can built chemistry so fast. Thats make her special. Last immortal
I have never written a review for dramas before, but this drama caught my attention and I wanted to write a review for it. I read the reviews about the drama, some were very good and some were really bad. The success of Lucy and this series has hurt them so much are angryI wanted to say that we support him and the entire drama team because he has worked hard for everything and deserves respect and admiration. The drama has an interesting and exciting story. Every episode makes you want to see the next episode faster. It is true that the visual effects are really lacking, but this weakness The excellent acting of Lucy and Anyo and the rest of the actors can be overlooked. If the effects were better, I'm sure this drama would have received more positive ratings than now, and many hits may be named, but anyway, watch and enjoy this drama. Ayin is very cute. Gojin is also simpleIt makes her trust anyone easily and that's bad. I hope my daughter doesn't upset Ayin too much because it makes my heart ache. Lucy conveys emotions really well. Watch the drama and enjoy it. Don't think about anything else.

LOVED IT
I personally was drawn to this drama because of Zhao Lusi. First episode gave me a strong sense of anticipation and immediately got me invested in the Main Leads characters.What I found a bit off putting was Lusi’s portrayal of A Yin. I love her, don’t get me wrong but I’m not a big fan of childlike acting ( understand that A Yin was in fact a newly hatched Water Beast, therefore it made sense why her character had to be portrayed as so ).
The friendship in this series is one that you can’t miss. Four young people with very special identities and responsibilities joining hands to bring peace and justice. A Jin, A Yin , A Jiu .. I want to know why they didn’t name Yan Shuang , A Shu or something similar lol. But that’s irrelevant, I just loved how they have nicknames for each other. The loyalty portrayed and the love between friends was one of the qualities of this drama that drew me into it more. I enjoyed watching the teamwork between all four of them.
The villains in this series did their roles quite well I would say. I did hate them all to the point where had to take a break because they stressed me out lol. But nothing makes up for a bad villains deeds more than an act of righteousness which was portrayed by one of the villains near the end. I thought that was touching, it still doesn’t erase the deeds this villain committed because I honestly hated this particular villain a lot, but it was touching to see a positive change.
The romance in this drama between the Male Leads is bittersweet. Depending on your interests when it comes to drama romance, I personally think they deserved more romance considering all that happened between them from the start to end. They faced so many hardships together, challenging both their strengths and their love. I was disappointed in the male lead for his choice of action leading to a very tragic loss, and I was satisfied to see him face the consequences of it lol. But then when the female lead returned the favor, I felt terrible for the male lead. But they still loved each other, you’ll want to cry and be mad seeing them like that lol.
The ending for me was neither happy nor sad. It just depends on how you wished the ending to be and your definition of happy endings. I do believe they should’ve been given more screen time with the last scene to kind of allow the viewers to recover from the tragedies that led up to that point lol.
Overall though, it was worth my time.

She Saved Him First, Then They Spent Lifetimes Saving Each Other
I came into The Last Immortal with one simple expectation.I wanted another beautiful xianxia after falling in love with Ancient Love Poetry. Knowing that this story follows Yuan Qi, the son of Bai Jue and Shang Gu, naturally made me curious. I wanted to see what kind of person the child of two True Gods would become.
What I never expected was that before I could even meet the legendary Phoenix Queen Feng Yin...
I would completely fall in love with a little Water Condensation Beast named A Yin.
That, in my opinion, is the greatest strength of this drama.
One question I constantly see on MDL is:
"Do I need to watch Ancient Love Poetry first?"
The answer is no, because The Last Immortal tells a complete story on its own.
However, if you've watched Ancient Love Poetry, the emotional experience becomes much richer.
Understanding who Bai Jue and Shang Gu are, why Yuan Qi grew up the way he did, and why becoming a True God was never something he wanted adds an entirely different layer to his character.
Without that background, Yuan Qi may initially come across as a lazy young immortal who refuses to cultivate.
With that background...
You realize he spent his childhood watching godhood take everything away from the people he loved.
For Yuan Qi, becoming a True God never represented glory.
It represented loneliness.
Responsibility.
Sacrifice.
Loss.
That subtle character writing completely changed how I viewed him.
One of the biggest misconceptions about this drama is believing that it begins with an overpowered male lead protecting a weak heroine.
It doesn't.
In fact...
A Yin saves Gu Jin first.
During Feng Yin's Nirvana, part of the Fire Phoenix Essence leaves the egg to protect the young Gu Jin when he is powerless and being bullied.
Unfortunately, Hua Shu happens to be wearing red that day, allowing her to steal the credit for saving him.
That single misunderstanding quietly becomes the foundation of nearly every tragedy that follows.
The Phoenix Essence is absorbed into Gu Jin's body.
Feng Yin's rebirth fails.
Instead...
She is reborn as the adorable Water Condensation Beast we come to know as A Yin.
Looking back after finishing all forty episodes, I genuinely admire how something that seemed like a small misunderstanding in Episode 1 continued to shape every major event until the finale.
At first, I thought this drama would simply be another adventure.
Collecting the scattered Immortal Essence.
Visiting different realms.
Meeting new allies.
Watching two people slowly fall in love.
The beginning feels surprisingly light, funny, and charming.
Gu Jin and A Yin constantly tease each other.
Their chemistry develops naturally through companionship rather than instant romance.
Unlike many xianxia dramas that rely on endless misunderstandings between the main couple, their relationship grows because they spend time together, protect each other, and slowly become each other's most important person.
That peaceful atmosphere made what came later hurt even more.
If A Yin is the emotional heart of this story, then Hua Shu is undoubtedly the catalyst behind much of its tragedy.
I rarely dislike a character this intensely.
Not because she was written as a typical jealous rival.
But because every decision she made was driven by ambition.
She stole another person's kindness.
She manipulated trust.
She repeatedly chose status over sincerity.
The moment she secretly punished A Yin and shattered her Immortal Core without anyone else's knowledge completely changed the trajectory of the story.
The most heartbreaking part wasn't A Yin's death.
It was realizing that Gu Jin genuinely believed he had already prepared everything necessary to save her.
He spent years of cultivation refining an elixir that he believed would protect her life.
He simply never knew that Hua Shu had already destroyed the very foundation that allowed A Yin to survive.
That realization broke me just as much as it broke him.
A Yin became one of my favorite xianxia heroines.
She begins as someone underestimated by almost everyone.
She isn't born powerful.
She isn't respected.
She isn't treated as special.
She is cheerful.
Kind.
Stubborn.
Sometimes impulsive.
But every hardship she experiences slowly shapes her into someone extraordinary.
The White Hair Arc remains one of the most emotional moments in the drama.
When she sacrificed almost all of her remaining lifespan to recover the final Immortal Essence fragments, I genuinely had to pause.
Everyone believed Water Condensation Beasts lived for a hundred years.
Then we discovered the devastating truth.
Because of the ancient war...
Their lifespan had already been drastically shortened.
She didn't have decades left.
She barely had one year.
Watching her continue smiling despite quietly accepting her own fate reminded me why Zhao Lusi continues to be one of the strongest emotional actresses of her generation.
Then came Daze Mountain.
This was the arc where I realized The Last Immortal was no longer simply a romance.
It became a story about injustice.
A Jiu's tragedy hit me unexpectedly hard.
He wasn't evil.
He wasn't a traitor.
He was possessed.
Yet before anyone even searched for the truth, people had already decided he was guilty.
The same happened to A Yin.
Again and again, the kindest people became the easiest people to blame.
That recurring theme made the emotional weight of the story feel much more grounded than many fantasy dramas.
I'll admit something.
There was a period where I was genuinely angry with Gu Jin.
Especially after he severed the Love Thread.
Like many viewers, I questioned why he kept choosing responsibility over the woman he loved.
But as the story progressed...
My perspective completely changed.
One thing I appreciate most about this drama is that it never asks us to forgive Yuan Qi simply because he's the male lead.
Instead...
It allows him to earn that forgiveness.
Piece by piece.
Choice by choice.
Sacrifice by sacrifice.
By the second half, we slowly discover everything he had quietly been carrying.
Reviving Daze Mountain.
Using his own Spirit God Origin.
Giving away the last remaining essence needed for Feng Yin's rebirth.
Never asking for recognition.
Never explaining himself.
Never expecting gratitude.
The moment his body slowly began fading because he had exhausted every last piece of his Spirit God power was the exact moment I stopped seeing him as someone who made mistakes...
and started seeing him as someone desperately trying to atone for them.
To me, that is what separates Yuan Qi from many other xianxia male leads.
His redemption isn't built on words.
It's built on consequences.
Feng Yin's rebirth was another brilliant writing decision.
Initially, I was excited to finally meet the legendary Phoenix Queen.
Ironically...
When that moment finally arrived...
I didn't want A Yin to disappear anymore.
That says everything about how successfully the writers developed her character.
Fortunately, they made the right decision.
Feng Yin never erased A Yin.
She carried every memory.
Every sacrifice.
Every lesson.
Every emotion.
The playful Water Condensation Beast became part of the dignified Phoenix Queen rather than being replaced by her.
That made the rebirth feel rewarding instead of tragic.
Visually, the drama consistently impressed me.
The CGI, while not perfect, remained beautiful throughout.
The different realms each had their own identity.
The Phoenix sequences looked majestic.
The costumes perfectly reflected every clan's culture and status.
I also have to mention the soundtrack.
The emotional scenes would not have hit nearly as hard without it.
Several moments stayed with me long after the episode ended simply because the music elevated the emotions so naturally.
Performance-wise, both leads delivered exactly what their characters required.
Wang Anyu surprised me the most.
His performance relies on restraint rather than exaggerated emotional breakdowns.
The quiet guilt.
The subtle sadness.
The exhausted smile whenever he tried reassuring Feng Yin despite knowing he was slowly disappearing.
Those moments carried incredible emotional weight.
Meanwhile, Zhao Lusi once again proved why she remains one of the strongest actresses in fantasy romance.
Playing A Yin and Feng Yin as two distinct yet connected identities could easily have felt artificial.
Instead, she made the transition completely believable.
By the end, I no longer saw two different characters.
I simply saw one woman who had grown through unimaginable pain.
My only criticism concerns the ending.
Not because it wasn't happy.
It absolutely was.
The explanation for Yuan Qi's return made sense within the story's mythology.
Unlike some xianxia endings that rely on vague miracles, this one actually respected its own world-building.
However...
After making us cry for almost forty episodes...
The reunion lasted only a few minutes.
Like many viewers on MDL, I couldn't help wishing we had just one more episode.
One episode showing their peaceful life together.
No more sacrifices.
No more separations.
Just happiness.
After everything they endured...
They deserved it.
So did we.
Looking back now...
I thought I was watching the story of a Phoenix Queen's rebirth.
Instead...
I witnessed two people spending an entire lifetime saving each other.
A Yin saved Gu Jin first.
Gu Jin spent the rest of the story trying to save her.
Then Feng Yin tried saving Yuan Qi.
And Yuan Qi quietly gave away his very existence to protect her and the Three Realms.
That beautiful cycle of sacrifice became the soul of the entire drama.
The Last Immortal isn't simply another xianxia filled with immortal realms and magical creatures.
It's a story about growing up.
Learning from mistakes.
Choosing responsibility without losing compassion.
And discovering that true love isn't measured by promises...
It's measured by the sacrifices two people willingly make for each other, even when no one else ever knows.
Despite all the tears, frustration, heartbreak, and emotional damage...
I would gladly experience this journey all over again.

Beautiful Xianxia Journey With Intense Chemistry And Devotion!
The Last Immortal (2023) is a gorgeous, high-budget fantasy epic that delivers everything a true xianxia enthusiast could ever ask for. It is a deeply moving story about growth, destiny, and a love that can withstand any tribulation.Story (9.5/10):The narrative is highly engaging, following the son of a true god and a water beast on a dangerous quest to collect the scattered soul pieces of a legendary Phoenix. The plot is filled with grand mythological world-building, magical tournaments, and intense realm politics. While the constant schemes from jealous side characters trying to tear the main couple apart can be incredibly frustrating to sit through, it only makes the ultimate loyalty and emotional sacrifices between the leads much more impactful. The emotional payoff is beautiful.Acting & Cast (10/10):Zhao Lusi and Wang Anyu delivered exceptional performances with a wonderful, burning chemistry. Zhao Lusi is magnificent, showcasing a brilliant character evolution from a cute, mischievous creature into a fierce, highly intelligent, and powerful female lead who stands proud against her enemies. Wang Anyu is perfect as the devoted, protective male lead who is willing to defy heaven and earth for the woman he loves. Endearing Drama with Endearing Chemistry
This was such a wonderful and easy drama to watch for me. I'll admit I started watching this because of the FL. From what I've seen of her so far, she seems to nail every scene she's in.From beginning to end, I fell in love with the characters and the cast. Although I'd never watched the ML in anything before, and why it took me so long to give this a try, he was so, well, ENDEARING. And the enamored way he would glance at the FL lead gave me butterflies...even when he was supposed to have eyes for the SFL. His little mannerisms and caring shone through, even when he had to make the harshest decision regarding her. The agony of this scene was, I think, one of the highlights of the series. During this particular scene, the FL was extraordinary. Her expressions and the way she becomes the character is amazing to watch.
The costumes were beautiful and the CGI was better than I thought it would be.
Another plus is the second couple. I saw the SML in LLTG, and hoped to see him in a bigger role. He doesn't disappoint here. I am glad he had his chance at romance, although he sure took his time getting there.
I did have to take a half a star away for the ending. It's happy, but I wanted to see more than a glimpse from across the way. The leads deserved a run into each other's arms, twirl around, and kiss sort of ending. They went through a lot to get there.

A SPIRIT LIFTER
It took me a long long time to watch anything related to Zhao Lusi.She is a natural , intense, shining star.
I think I felt in love with her acting from the beginning, and in less than 5 years she shot to the top, rising like a phoenix.
At the same time, I COULD NOT ignore the negative and envios power that little by litlle started devouring her, forcing her from a light into a shadow.
I loved this Xuxia, and after watching it I found my spirit lifted, because that's the magic og Zhao Lu si.
The entire cast' acting (beside the peacock) is top notch, and I LOVE to finally see a male lead that doesn't look like a doll or the impersonification of chauvinism.
The story is the same one we keep watching over and over, but the beauty of unexpected acting and twist, makes it profitable and appealing.
I love the special effect, but like Los Angeles, it seems the realms of any show is the same set, the same street, the same hut.....the same studio.
I would love to see chinese actresses that do not look like hangers, or korean ones with the without the same face.
But, I only hope she can revover a grain of her light, and above all be HEALTHY.

Cheap idol drama with everything wrong
If you watched enough Xian Xia dramas, it will be hard to handle this one.I really tried because I absolutely love Zhao Lusi but she needs to pick better scripts. Her star power is enough to get best of the best scripts.
So many things wrong with the drama:
-Cheap looking sets, cheap CGI & boring story
-Make up lighting is terrible 1/2 of the time making actors look worse.
-Casting of ML Wang An Yu. He does better in modern dramas. Here his hair doesn't flatter his face. What's more he has zero chemistry with FL. Had they used Li Yun Rui (supporting role) with Zhao Lusi, it would've been better. Previously he was a supporting character to Zhao LuSi in Love like Galaxy. At least they would've had some chemistry.
-Zhao LuSi's baby voice. I don't think the role required her voice to be so young.
Off to the next one!
