Freaking Ice queen and her Plastic tears

honestly, this show left me wondering why it has so much hype in the first place.it delivered nothing of the sort. The entire plot was surrounded by a failed attempt to capture the boring family dynamics and romance which is entangled in melodrama and cliches. The fancy lead couple felt more awkward than emotionally connected. till episode 12 i actually felt no couple(married) vibes through them.. after that it was all wrapped around the tragic memory loss plot that gave that barely there true love feel to it.

Rn i am so bored to even write this review so you can fathom the dept of my disappointment in this show .. anyways..
the narrative is so overwhelmed by unnecessary melodrama, meanwhile the scenes where rather strong emotions were needed, the reactions felt flat and dull. the pace of the plot was snail sped too much content and time was wasted on things which were adding no concrete substance to the story ..for example ML's father's scenes about his election campaign were extremely stupid and forced funny.

Not only this but There were literally way too many characters and side stories, making the whole thing feel messy and hard to follow. Hong Hae In (played by Kim Ji Won) finds herself caught in a whirlwind of health problems and family betrayals, which should be touching, but instead, it’s a mess of unneeded drama. first she wanted surgery to escape death then she started overreacting as soon as she heard of the potential memory loss after treatment which was so unrealistic .. i mean come on .. anyone will prioritize life over memory cause if you live you can rebuilt those memories ..but if you die memories die with you .. her character remains so damn irritating till the last min ..like she literally gives no straight answer to any question/statement no matter how serious the matter or feelings are involved she always answers in an 'as if i care' roundabout manner ... i felt even more bad for kim soo hyun , his character was so weak and unlikeable in the first half of the show and the second half was so packed with melodrama that there wasnt much for him to do other than using tear drops. his character kind of lost its spirit in all the chaos and mess. Well ..to be honest this screenwriting did no justice to his talent as an outstanding actor.

Background music was possibly the best thing ... Secondly the wordrobe ..may be not the best but still good ( IMO judge from hell has best wordrobe and styling so far)

in the end i am still not convinced by the level of marketing they did to promote this show .. or may be they knew the show is lacking at good writing so atleast lets promote it good.

Masterpiece!

First of all! if you wanna start this drama, ignore the comments and review! just go in and find out if u like it or not!

Now finaly done with this drama and i give it a 9 because of the unnecessary plot at eps 15/16. they should have gave us at least a full eps 16 on how the ML and FL gonna rebuild and make new memory! they rushed it a bit in my opinion but at least we got a pretty final ending to Hae In and Baek Hyun!

Overal a very good drama and i can place this in my top 5! For some reason i can relate to Baek Hyun due to my own relationship. The fact that you can go to such lengt for your person made me fall in love with his character! But dam they made my boy cry a lot.

I hope that everyone that watch this drama can have his/her own opinion and don’t read to much into reviews because if someone doesn’t like this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t!

One of the top dramas of 2024. Very special to me and I will rewatch it for decades to come!

**SPOILERS AT THE END OF REVIEW**

First I have to say that this drama helped me a lot personally. It's funny to me that the last episode dropped on April 28th, my 30th birthday. In one scene, Hae-in says something along the lines of "what's so wrong with aging, it's a blessing. It's a beautiful thing in life," in response to being told that Hercyna only wants employees under 27 years old to sell their products. Hae-in's reaction to life after being told she has cancer was written beautifully. It's the classic story of having a wakeup call after being told you don't have long to live. I've never had a terminal illness but as that 30th number was approaching me, I started to panic because I wasn't were I thought I would be in life. This drama made me realize how foolish I was and how I should be thankful that I'm living a healthy life. This show was made at the perfect time for me and I'm forever thankful <3

NOW as for the show, arguably some of the best acting, if not the best I've seen of any show out there (and I'm including Game of Thrones when I say this). Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won have set the gold standard in acting, so much so that it's actually inspiring. They made it so easy to feel how the characters felt. I also can't forget Kwak Dong-yeon. His bike scenes were all so special

Shout out to the villains, especially Park Sung-hoon as Yoon Eun-seong. The acting from him and writing of the character were exceptional. He portrays someone desperate for love perfectly

The soundtrack is one of the best I've heard and the visuals were amazing, especially the shots in Germany. The Germany scenes alone are enough to rewatch, especially the big kiss, which is by far the most genuine and passionate kiss I've seen in any movies or shows

No plot holes to my knowledge, just some things that could've been expanded on

**SPOILERS**

Now even though the writing was great overall, it seemed to have gotten lazy and too tropy towards the end. It was very predictable and everyone could see Hyun-woo being run over from miles away. Made me roll my eyes when I saw him across the busy street from Hae-in and again when he got run over

Also:
- Hae-in's journal being fine thanks to the rain was lazy
- No one even cared that Eun-seong threatened Hae-in, the people around him went about business as usual
- Hae-in's side effects seemingly stopped after some episodes to make more room in each episode. Not the most realistic thing lol
- That car hit on Hyun-woo was brutal. More surprising he survived that than the bullet in his upper back
- Wish to have seen Hyun-woo's reaction to finding out he saved Hae-in from drowning as kids
- Hae-in seeing old Hyun-woo in mourning as a ghost when on their honeymoon, while beautiful foreshadowing, is out of place for a non-fantasy show since modern Hyun-woo couldn't see him

The ending was perfect. It's sad to see that Hae-in dies at an old age before Hyun-woo but it's perfect since she told him before the surgery to mourn her for four seasons and then forget about her and live his life. I interpret it as when he got to the lavender field to mourn her there, he was about dead as well from the emotion and then died shortly after to be with Hae-in once again <3

In summary, the show was very worth the watch and I hope it teaches others lessons like it did me. I will rewatch this one for decades to come and will always think about it because of those lessons leading up to my 30th birthday <3 Will be rewatching with my sister very soon!

It will bring you to tears

I can not believe that this kdrama has gotten such a high rating. It was average at best. I wanted to enjoy it, mainly because the actor is considered Keora's highest-paid actor, and this is the first movie I have seen him in. However, the movie was flat. I suffered through it, hoping it would get better. Come to think of it that is what it was missing: "hope" (well, besides the emotional draw between the main characters). Time after time, the main character tried to save the day, and the rug kept being pulled out from under him. I wanted to cry, too. He was finally the hero in the last episode; then they made him out to be supper human (hit by a car, back up running across miles of snow, saves his women, to track back down the hill, and gets shot). I don't blame the actors; I blame the script. It is too far bad that they did not see the script as lacking. Maybe they thought because they had him as the actor, it would help the script out. It did not work. This was not a good comeback role for Kim Soo-hyun. Tears alone are not enough to take away the Best Actor award, and that was his only strength in this show (his tears).

Amidst the disappointment, there were a few bright spots. The female villain, portrayed by Lee Mi-suk, was a standout. I found myself wishing for more of her presence on screen. She gave passion! So did Kim Jung-nan's character. It was a delightful addition. They inject some much-needed levity into the otherwise somber narrative.

A Heartfelt Masterpiece

Queen of Tears is an absolute masterpiece a drama that touched my heart in ways I didn’t expect. From the very first episode to the last, it delivered a perfect blend of humor, emotion, and heartfelt storytelling.

Kim Soo Hyun’s performance was a revelation. His ability to balance comedy and deep emotional scenes was stunning, making his character unforgettable. If I could rate his acting, it would be a thousand out of ten. Kim Ji Won, on the other hand, brought a unique charm to her role, and her chemistry with Kim Soo Hyun was electric. Together, they created a pairing that felt fresh, relatable, and iconic.

What truly sets this drama apart is its storytelling. The narrative was full of moments that made me laugh and cry, often at the same time. The way the characters evolved, particularly Hae In and Hyun Woo, was beautifully done. Hae In’s journey of rediscovering love, even after losing her memories, was breathtaking. Watching her fall for him all over again, with the same innocence and determination as the first time, was a joy to witness.

The symbolism in the drama like the four-leaf clover and the diary added depth and meaning to the story. Each time the diary appeared, it was a poignant reminder of their love, and it brought both tears and smiles.

The family dynamics were another highlight. The contrast between the two families added layers to the story, showcasing different perspectives on love and relationships. It was heartwarming to see how these differences ultimately brought everyone closer.

The most beautiful moment for me? When Hae In kept saying Hyun Woo’s name. That scene encapsulated the essence of the drama: love that endures, heals, and transforms.

Queen of Tears is more than just a drama it’s an emotional journey. The Ice Cold Princess and the King of Tears have left an indelible mark on my heart. This is a story I’ll cherish forever.

To anyone who hasn’t watched it yet, you’re in for a treat. And for those who have, let’s keep celebrating this incredible team and the magic they created.

It's really good, still cant believe it overtook CLOY but it deserves the praise

I was hesitant to watch this show about a married couple, netflix preview made it seem boring so i avoided it for a while. I eventually gave it a chance and i'm really glad i did. The family drama had me intrigued from the first episode. Is this better than CLOY? absolutely not imo lmao. But, it's good. Really good. Queen of tears definitely made me tear up a few times, its an emotional exploration of what happens when tragedy strikes and people who dearly love each other drift apart. I figured it would be full of misunderstanding cliches but honestly its not. Its full instead of raw emotion, scandalous liars, and smart MCs who regrettably each deal with heartache in different ways and drifted apart. Yes this is the story of how they come back together, but its more than that. Highly recommended to watch, although CLOY is still my fav haha.

The cast makes it a must watch

So I rarely write reviews but for some reason I just felt like I had to write my thoughts about this one.

From the score you could probably tell, how much I enjoyed it. I binged through the whole show in less than 4 days. There were nights, where I didn't want to go to sleep, to keep watching, because I loved it so much.

Knowing part of the production team also made CLOY I kinda knew, what I was getting. A mello-romance with a lot of tears and some cheesyness but for some reason it just worked to perfection for me. Especially the pacing, what sometimes was a bit rough during CLOY was incredibly well done this time. The K-Drama style cliffhanger were chosen wisely and not used too many times, so you rarely knew in which direction it was going.

Most important for that was the cast. This drama has my favorite actress, Kim Jiwon, who I adore and my favorite actor Kwak Dongyeon as part of the main lead group. The supporting cast also was tremendiously chosen. Some throwbacks to CLOY, some cross references to other dramas, including one out of nowhere Cameo of a certain lawyer and over all a cast I basically know like no cast before. Basically every actor is a known enitity in the Korean drama industry and totally delivers. There are scene stealers and just solid solid performances throughout.

But Kim Jiwon stole the show. Every single dialogue she had with her male lead (Kim Soohyun) was amazing. Great chemistry, great emotions, great dialogue and enough space for the viewer to read between the lines. I think starting from episode 6 or 7 I think I cried about 2-3 per episode, mostly due to the great dialogues and acting.

If you like well-paced, well-acted tear jearking romance give this one a shot. I personally enjoyed every second of it.

Was It Worth It?

I was beyond excited to start this drama. It had an amazing cast lined up, the trailer looked interesting, and the synopsis sounded unique. But the only thing that held up well was the casting. Friends, our lead actor and actress are probably the only reason I finished this soapy and overly drawn out love story. KSH and KJW nailed every emotional and comedic scene. They had amazing chemstry and I would 100% LOVE to see them in a future drama together. The rest of the cast did the best they could with the material available to them, particularly Kwak Dong Yeon and Kim Jung Nan. The cinematography was also just wonderful with some amazing dreamy shots and beautiful locations.

It's the plot, the bloated cast of characters, and the overly long episode length that truly kept it from reaching its potential. It never quite knew what it wanted to be. Was it a romance? A makjang? A comedy? A satirical drama? A fantasy (considering some of the plot points were unrealistically tied into a bow by the end)? Some shows can effortlessly combine these various elements together, but this was not one of them. If this story had focused on one of these elements with half the characters and half the length, I think we would have something truly memorable. Because embedded in the sloppy plot are truly some beautiful and unique moments. I just wish we could have focused on those moments rather smashing them together with cliched plot points over and over again.

Was it worth it? In the end, it was worth it to me. I enjoyed watching this live and I adored the main leads. But if I were being honest with myself, I would have dropped this after the second episode if not for the main cast. I recommend people give this a shot, but be willing to drop it if it doesn't hold your interest after the first initial episodes. If you want to know how the love story goes, there are some amazing YouTube videos showing just their story.

Waste of potential + Overratings

I was looking forwards all episods to being available on Netflix to start watching this drama.

Way different lead characters (rich strong and « bad tempered » FL + poor calm and easy going ML), story/plot (couple and family relationships, disease, finding love again, etc), amazing casting (Kim Ji Won, Kim Soo Hyun, Lee Joo Bin, Park Sung Hoon, Kwak Dong Yeon) and OST.
From my point of view there was a lot of positive things making me feel that I’ll really enjoy QoT.

But actually this drama didn’t met my expectations. First episods were good but then it became worse from an episod to another. Overacting sometimes (but still love actors I mentioned above), unrealistic or stupid situations, lack of character development, predictable twists (it ends exactly how you think it will end from second half of the drama),

The production/filming was great but unfortunately writing and direction could have been better. It didn’t allow actors to show how good they are (like in My liberation notes, IOTNBO, The glory, Be melodramatic, etc).

For me, it is same as for CLOY => waste of potential, overratings and no rewatch value (rewatch drama listed above would be better)

Worth trying

This drama was nice....
It had everything.... Romance, drama, comedy, revenge, a bit of suspense too
First 10 to 12 episodes are quick, newand fresh to watch.... They were pretty good in all terms..but last few episodes were not what people expected... They weren't bad but not that great too....

But overall... This drama is worth trying and chemistry between leads is great
Acting is wonderful, cast is best...

It’s not the best drama but okay

The reason I'm watching this is because it seems promising, and especially the cast attracts me to watch it

The early episode was quite good until from the middle to end all the mess just kept appearing here and there
idk what is wrong with the writer lol, but so many things that don`t make any sense to me.
This is typical 막장 drama.
The ending is Beautiful Pain, it`s sad but beautiful.

The acting was superb, like I cried with them, angry with them, and laughed with them.
Park Sunghoon succeeded in making me hate him (as Yoon Eunsong) so much! I kinda skipped his scene so often lol or just fast-forwarding.
Kim Soohyun, his acting is always superb too! I've been watching his drama since Dream High. His acting is always good! He's good at making viewers experience heartbreak
Kim Jiwon is glowing so much, acting and visual-wise. She has always been pretty but the makeup in this drama makes her stand out even more. Her acting is also great, but still, I kinda feel something is lacking in her acting. But doesn't mean she’s bad, it just she needs to polish it more.
Overall the rest of the cast acting just amazing!

Music or OST wise they are all great. But not great enough to make me add them to my playlist. Matter of preference though

But do I will rewatch this? Nope absolutely no. The story is not worth to be rewatched.
