A very good first episode that makes me want to watch the upcoming episodes as soon as possible. It makes me wonder too if the main characters will move the another continent in a couple of episodes because it seems that there's an important event that needs to take place before the doctors volunteer. We still haven't seen the reason why Dr Ma wants to join the volunteer programme. I thought we were going to see the main characters in an African country as soon as the pilot episode started, but I have no problem because this episode gives us a good understanding of Ma Jia's personality, relationships, motivation, and goals. From what we see so far, I think the reason he wants to join the volunteer programme is because of Suleiman, his intern who came from the city where the programme will take place. Maybe something bad happened to Suleiman? Around a few minutes into the episode, it shows that in the present time, Dr Ma still works at Jiang University. I doubt the reason he wants to join the programme is that something went wrong with his decision to stay at Jiang instead of moving to Yikang. I can't wait to see the moment the doctors arrive in Sanah. I love how the post-credit scene shows an interview and a mini-documentary of real Chinese doctors who volunteered in Cameroon. As much as I find it exciting to hear how they treat the locals, I wish they also interviewed the patients so we can see their point of view about being tended by Chinese doctors. Listening to both side's perspectives will be more exciting and engaging.
