Great Watch
I find the leads intelligent, funny, and inventive. I would watch again. Lits of greed and integrity. Love, and loss. Females are strong, defiant, and go head to head with their counter parts. As always goid pitted against evil. I find chi ese dramas, especially te realic ones are the best Asian dramas.Was this review helpful to you?
mixed bag
It had a promising start, but after watching the first seven episodes, I found myself feeling a bit underwhelmed. The series attempts to blend drama and romance, but it often gets lost in its own narrative.
The characters are somewhat relatable, but they lack the depth needed to really engage the audience. I found myself struggling to connect with their motivations and decisions. Some of the plot twists felt forced, and the pacing was inconsistent, with certain episodes dragging on while others rushed through important developments.
Visually, the show has its moments, with some beautiful cinematography that captures the essence of its setting. However, it didn’t consistently deliver the visual appeal I was hoping for. The soundtrack was pleasant but didn’t leave a lasting impression.
It has its strengths, but it also has significant weaknesses that hold it back from being truly great. I’d rate it a 5/10—there are definitely better shows out there, but it might still be worth a watch if you’re looking for something light.

Poor storyline and ancient style
The firat episode seem slow and boring but. Thought is just strating but shit it continue to ep 8 and is a no for me . Very slow and old looks drama. The cast looks older and ancient drama view. The storyline is off and too many fast plot. Very very boring i will say honestly . Watch this for Yang Zi and Peonies
The biggest reason to watch this drama is Yang Zi. There are more than enough twists and turns in the plot to keep going to the next episode. There's also much confusion as to the relationship between Prince Ning, the Emperor and San Lang. The other members of the cast are good at best with the more outstanding character being Zhu Fu.Overall the storyline is simplistic, incredulous but entertaining nonetheless. There's enough to ensure that one continues watching Season 2, In the Name of Blossom.
Other than Yang Zi, the peonies are incredibly beautiful.

Will this love story survive insurmountable obstacles, rooting for a yes
This show’s villains want to make you jump into screen and strangle. There are broken people you can never save. Abuse, injustice, oppression are all being set up in the plot so we will have a spectacular end of goodness over evil. Too long for its own good
This is a 32 episode story, continued with another 24 episode long sequel, under a changed title: In the Name of the Blossom.Either way, it was too, too long.
The story did not need a total of 56 boooooring episodes to be told.
Half of its length was due to characters reminiscent of past events. A story that is self referencing to the point of nausea it's too painful to watch.
ML and FL forced to forever smile at each other it was another source of pain.

Flourished Peony is rare gem quality drama
I knew it will be explosive drama, see its casts.It shows not only quality casts, but trusted producer, director, art directors n storyline. It's not just common drama, real gem. It's not boring at all, festive of colours, beautiful scenes. Quality actings, Yang Zi, Li Xian, Miles Wei n Jaqin, n supporting casts top notch, the success of drama depends on whole team. It also contains chinese culture of Tang Dynasty. Love it so much that i have watched it 3x. Thanks to producer for producing such beautiful drama n the whole team.

I'm not usually one to wait since I have no patience, but for this series, I actually checked in daily as the episodes released. That can't be the ending right? Am I missing something? Prince Ning was out for blood, not to mention his bih daughter and where's the Prince and Princess Consort? Have Seen Better
Not so much a review as an opinion.I am watching episode 20.
Firstly, I do not like the FL He Wei Fang / Mu Dan, I did in the beginning, but she has become a greedy, money hungry person who cares little for other people’s feelings unless they are her best friends.
Understandably she had a very bad experience with her first husband and his parents, but she has become an unlikeable person and I really don’t understand what our hero sees in her.
Sure, it may have been her money hungry brain in the beginning, but as her ambition grew, so did her character change and not for the best. She is very good at trampling over our hero (ML) Jiang Changyang.
