For me ,it is a dull story.

Flourished Peony revolves around a girl who is forced to marry a man against her will. Her mother is ill, and the medicine needed for her treatment is controlled by the boy’s family. They agree to provide the medicine only if she marries the boy and transfers her mother’s property to them after the marriage. She agrees to the marriage, determined to make it work.

However, she later discovers that the boy’s family has no intention of helping her mother. Realizing their deceit, she begins to look for a way to get a divorce. Initially, the boy dislikes her, but as he observes her hard work and determination, he starts to soften and eventually develops feelings for her.

Despite his efforts, the girl remains resolute in her decision to divorce him. She never reciprocates his feelings and consistently rejects his advances. Parallel to this, she focuses entirely on building her peony business.

I found the roles of Li You Zhen and the male lead to be underdeveloped and unjustified. Overall, I didn’t enjoy the story much.

Here for the plot of the show

I am completely sold on this show. The first few episodes convinced me that the show has a lot to offer. I mainly like how the plot progresses. I've been watching historical dramas these days and more often, female leads are often described as smart, wise, and independent yet I often saw how impulsive they may get and the male leads are more than willing to do the saving. Flourished Peony is different. The fl here bravely navigates the unknowns and the difficult times of her life. The male lead helped her a few times but those situations needed his authority. I'm excited for the upcoming episodes. I hope this show will remain its greatness till the end.

6 episodes so far sooo good

I love Yang Zi’s acting!! She brings a depth of emotion to her character and her ability to balance strength with vulnerability makes her portrayal of the role both complex and compelling. The way Yang Zi conveys the emotional turmoil is truly remarkable, and it further solidifies her reputation as one of the most talented actresses in the industry.

SO INCREDIBLE

Flourished Peony is a visually stunning drama with high production value. From the intricate costumes to the lavish set designs, everything feels grand and meticulously crafted. The cinematography enhances the immersive experience, making it a visual masterpiece.

The storyline is equally engaging, blending themes of love, ambition, and betrayal. The characters are well-developed, with the lead actors delivering heartfelt performances and showcasing incredible chemistry. Each twist keeps you hooked, making it impossible to stop watching.

The drama balances emotional intensity with lighthearted moments, exploring the complexities of relationships in a relatable way. Its seamless pacing and compelling character dynamics make every episode captivating and enjoyable.

The soundtrack is another highlight, perfectly complementing the narrative and amplifying the emotions in key scenes. Flourished Peony is a must-watch for its stunning visuals, gripping story, and unforgettable performances.

mixed bag

It had a promising start, but after watching the first seven episodes, I found myself feeling a bit underwhelmed. The series attempts to blend drama and romance, but it often gets lost in its own narrative.

The characters are somewhat relatable, but they lack the depth needed to really engage the audience. I found myself struggling to connect with their motivations and decisions. Some of the plot twists felt forced, and the pacing was inconsistent, with certain episodes dragging on while others rushed through important developments.

Visually, the show has its moments, with some beautiful cinematography that captures the essence of its setting. However, it didn’t consistently deliver the visual appeal I was hoping for. The soundtrack was pleasant but didn’t leave a lasting impression.

It has its strengths, but it also has significant weaknesses that hold it back from being truly great. I’d rate it a 5/10—there are definitely better shows out there, but it might still be worth a watch if you’re looking for something light.

Great Watch

I find the leads intelligent, funny, and inventive. I would watch again. Lits of greed and integrity. Love, and loss. Females are strong, defiant, and go head to head with their counter parts. As always goid pitted against evil. I find chi ese dramas, especially te realic ones are the best Asian dramas.

Peonies are everywhere to you look

When I was waiting for this drama, my expectations were quite high. Already the first trailer after the end of filming gave an idea that it would be a really great drama and its ratings were quite high, even the opinions of the professional public were satisfactory. After Christmas, the first photos and other trailers began to appear, and I began to be more curious. And why not? The drama features excellent actors, many of whom I knew from their previous works. The plot of the drama seemed really interesting and surprising for me. I had the opportunity to see beautiful costumes, decorations, hairstyles and even the make-up style in the Tang Dynasty, which was completely different from today's make-up. Of course, I understand that at that time a woman only had to use what she had available. For me, as a European, this is completely new information that completely surprised me. I was also enchanted by the beautiful scenery in which the whole drama takes place. Those gardens and peonies! Of course I wanted to see this drama. And you know what? My expectations have been met, the drama is really great. The actors are absolutely amazing and Yang Zi, Li Xian, Miles Wei, Zhang Ya Qin, Hao Wen Ting, Zhang Lei and Lian Yin Yue are doing their roles perfectly. The production crew worked really great and all period artefacts are truly exceptional and refined to the smallest detail. I could certainly write poetry about this drama until the morning, but not all of us have that much time. For me, it is a really, really great and beautiful drama and I definitely recommend everyone to watch it if they have the opportunity. I know for sure that not everyone will to share my opinion (sorry, I don't believe in miracles even if everything is possible...), but how about giving this drama a chance to show its charm and shine to first. After all, nothing in this world is one hundred percent and perfect, nothing is just black or just white. Let peonies into your heart and see how much beauty they hide.

LOVE IT!

I’m totally enjoying this drama. Character development, the story and strong but well handled messages along with witty and humorous interactions between the ML and FL keep me emotionally invested and waiting in anticipation for the release of each episode. The main OST is unique but thought provoking. Yang Zi has the ability to always make you feel and she doesn’t fail in this drama to take you effortlessly into her world, in this drama, the Tang Dynasty. The acting in the drama is excellent from Miles, to the Princess to Mudan’s maid. Yang Zi’s character in this drama and the story portrayed is not just about a woman who becomes a business woman and makes good - it’s much more than that. Mudan experiences hardships but retains her beliefs, values, warmth, kindness and determination to help others and succeed. There is also the intrigue and mystery of the ML and his motives and objectives to be revealed. After watching this drama up to episode 7 I tried to watch other Chinese dramas but felt none caught my interest and attention like this one. This is the drama I’m compelled to watch and I look forward to the release of the next episode to see what happens next in Mudan’s world. Although I want to be emotionally connected to the characters it’s great to also be able to have a laugh. I applaud the visuals and authenticity of the drama. It feels real and not staged. I feel like I’ve been transferred into another world and I love it! For me, the drama is definitely worth a 10/10. It’s a superior and quality production and I hope it’s well received so that producers and directors will continue to be inspired to produce works of this nature to this standard.

While the time period seems romantic and beautiful, it was harsh. The story is well written and it gives you a look into society of ancient customs. The character were are so well written that it allows the actors to pull you in and keep you wanting more. FML experienced, learned and grew. ML was man with money but not a bad person. The evil hussy that always apear in these as usual leave no room for pity. I do pitty the male butt wipe /ex-husband. Only because he turns to be typical rich only son who saw himself as gold only to be only as good as his parents deemed his worth. To forsake you child for connection is deep. Im looking forward to the end. I dont need a S2 because only depression can happen.
