Not only that, he always protects and looks after her for Shen Wan. He not only makes promises but also shows sincerity through his actions 💞💘. He's truly a green flag man 😭💘.
All the actors and actresses here played their roles so well, to the point where I was sometimes overcome with emotion—sadness, annoyance, joy, and nervousness—I felt like I could feel all of it in this drama. A Well Balanced Mystery Forensic Drama and the Greenest Flag Male Lead
This drama tops all the mystery, crime solving dramas that I have watched. The story was well written and well paced, leaving no plot holes or unanswered questions. The plot centers around solving cases through forensics, along with romance on the side. I particularly love how there are no misunderstanding plots throughout the drama.The actors did really well in acting out their roles. Ao Ruipeng was great as Yan Chi and trust me when I say this, Yan Chi is the greenest male lead in Chinese dramas. The admiration, respect, understanding, and love that he has for Shen Wan was honestly, inspiring. Also, the scene of him falling for her at first sight in episode 1 was beautiful and definitely worth looking forward to!
Li Landi was also made for the role of Shen Wan. As a coroner, she was really set on solving cases through forensics and she was not afraid to correct the wrongs, even if it’s someone dear to her. I have to mention that her eyes were captivating. Not only the two leads, Yu Chengen and Shen Yujie also did well in their roles as Yan Li and Yue Ning, respectively.
All in all, this is definitely one of my favorite dramas that I have rewatched multiple times! The cases in this drama were also able to get me hooked and on the edge of my seat.

Boring
To be brief this is an incredibly boring and deeply predictable show with little substance to any of its characters or proper thought towards the overall plot.To be less brief, Coroners Diary clearly went in with good intent but failed to reach anything that I think it aspired to. The acting was fine but the characters were bland and one note. Even though they tried to give Shen Wan depth and make her seem like there was layers the writing did not reflect that. Slowly giving her more emotions would work if they did it in parts but the made her a serious mary sue and then all of a sudden were like whoops need her to smile some more. Yan Chi was fun but again boring and deeply deeply unrealistic, they made him a mary sue too. I also have the maybe controversial opinion that Li Landi and Ao Ruipeng had absolutely no chemistry as Shen Wan and Yan Chi, like I did not believe them in love for even a second. For a show that is primarily a romance that's severely disappointing!!
As for the plot, I decided to drop the show because I got to ep 23 and there was absolutely no progress in the original mystery/goal of the show. As much as I love an episodal mystery there should be better tie-ins to the original intention, otherwise it makes it look like the writers just forgot it. And the mysteries were not great either unfortunately. They were either too predictable and handed the answer to the audience wayy too early on or were completely nonsensical and left you in the complete dark until the mc magically discovered the answer. This lack of balance made it hard to want to invest in the mysteries.
The directing was also very distracting. The director was clearly trying to establish a pattern with his shots with the focus switches to different plants/objects but it was really distracting and not well done. None of the other shots that were set up to be interesting quite hit the mark either but the editing kept it coherent.
I wish there had been more thought to the balance of the episodes and the way the characters develop. The acting was fine, visually it was okay, some of the villains were interesting. Unfortunately nothing can save a romance without chemistry or a mystery that never comes to full fruition.

It was mindblowing
Coroner's Diary is a suitable drama genre for people who have the kind of detective interest, who like to try to solve cases and find plot twists. This drama actually has so many plot twists especially between ep35-38...I think🤔 This drama was good for me. Especially at the beginning and the end. Honestly, I stucked around ep 25-28 and I don't know why. And this well deserves to get rates 8+/10. Just it has so many plot twists and mindblowing scenes. Another drama about coroner. Let's watch…The story begins with a major political tragedy. Shen Wan (SW) is the daughter of a high-ranking official and renowned coroner. Her family is massacred after her father is falsely accused of aiding a disgraced prince, Prince of Jin. SW is the sole survivor.

What I like:
+ The chemistry between Landy Li & Ao Rui Peng not bad
+ The case & the overall plot are quite interesting
+ How funny that everyone definitely must be thrown up when they see their first autopsy. That's just so normal…
+ The way everyone around ML & FL support them
Overall this just another drama on my list

If you like Scooby Doo, Halloween-type mysteries this is for you...
The one thing that impressed me the most with this drama was how graphic and racy it was for a cdrama. There were an abundance of three scenes here:1. Graphic/gory images (you won't be enjoying any meals while you watch this show)
2. People vomiting (another reason why)
3. Violence against women
I did not care for #3 but I can handle these topics as long as they are being presented as issues that our leads are fighting against. If you are sensitive to topics about abuse towards women and children, r*pe, slavery, cheating, etc... I would skip this entirely.
Although the topics are scandalous, the cases are solved pretty seamlessly by our leads. You're never really worried at any point that things won't go well for Qin Wan and Yan Chi. They are both always the smartest and the luckiest people in the room, as well as the best looking. If you are the type that likes to watch a little more of a challenge, than you will be waiting the entire drama for the main, over-arching case to be solved. Despite having committed sinister and horrible crimes, all of the villains (except the performer) are all pretty ridiculous. They are all the whining Scooby-Doo type with extreme mental instability and no remorse or real purpose for their crimes other than being self-serving. They were just as sloppy as they were rotten, no intelligence or intriguing characteristics at all. Which I guess helped to keep the overall vibe more silly than serious for me. Also, there was a decent amount of comedy that oddly worked well. I found myself laughing pretty hard at the parts that were meant to be funny so I feel like the comedy was better executed than the mystery at times.
Our main CP clicked from day one and are basically Sherlock Holmes and Watson together. They have separate strengths that come in handy at the right times and compliment each other well. Yan Chi is forest of green flags. It's always a good sign a guy is actually a good guy if he's got multiple aunties/older women who love him like a son. And he loves everything about Qin Wan. At one point, after she awkwardly ends one of their intimate moments, he basically tells her he is the only one who can handle her eccentricities. And he's absolutely right. He keeps her grounded, supports and protects her. Yan Chi is perfection and carries a lot of this show.
The romance wasn't great. Once they confessed all passion was gone and they acted like they have been married for 40 years. I'm trying to justify it by telling myself the show was trying to be realistic to their personalities. It was nice that there were no serious love rivals or silly break ups or misunderstandings. It just kind of felt like with their romance the sweet scenes were misplaced or forced in towards the end. Like in the middle of solving a case the writer's were just like "are we forgetting something? oh yeah the romance!" I mean this CP even talked about work during their wedding night.
Other characters: I loved Yue Ning and Fuling and how much they loved Qin Wan. Bai Feng and Yan Li were also a highlights. I'm a sucker for sidekicks and they are now on my favorites list. But sadly, for a lot of the Moonlight Mystique alumni, they all played less likable characters in this drama. Qin Shuang did grow on me by the end, but Qin Xiang was such a waste of screen time. After she showed no appreciation or character growth after being rescued from the murdering doctor, I figured they'd make her a full blown villain. And then she'd play some sort of major part in the end. But nope, she never served any other purpose but being bitter and annoying. As for the royal family it was nice to see one so closely knit. But by the end that kind of faltered.
The ending: Happyish. There were still a lot loose ends and questions I had about some of the side characters. I wasn't thrilled that the main mystery and villain had a manic, but silly vibe to him as well. There were a few disappointing things in this drama keeping it from having a higher rating for me. I doubt I'll be rewatching this but it was interesting enough to be worth completing.
OST and Cinematography: not terrible but not memorable either.

Too slow and boring
Unfortunately too slow and boring, with lots of "Captain Obvious" moments that get mulled over for too long. Cases are nothing special to write home about either, if you've seen a decent amount of detective dramas, there's certainly nothing memorable here. Cases are so so in the first part, but they turn into a real snooze fest when the plot moves to the capital. Everybody and they mother (literally) are plotting like uncouth thugs, even the royal family, and it turned this drama into a circus, where you can't take anybody seriously or relate to their problems.This drama is one of those that quite unsubtly drills feminist ideas, not as blunt as in Blossom, but somewhere close. FL here is a typical Mary Sue, made to stand out among the rest of the cast by dumbing them down. She's made here a super pro out of nowhere, who looks like she was making 10 autopsies a day before the start of the drama. She has a super modern approach to conducting them as well, that wasn't established at all in ancient China, where autopsies were considered a taboo for a long time because of religion. Yet with all that, they somehow forgot to put an apron, a cap and a mask on her - she conducts autopsies in her fancy dresses, inhales the fumes and lets her hair down to swipe all the nasty stuff. Perhaps it was done so as not to obscure FL's pretty face and body, but it looked dumb af and threw all seriousness of autopsy scenes out the window, especially considering other historical cdramas have coroners wear proper work attires. And even in this very same drama there were other coroner guys wearing full set up.
She's also a very knowledgable medic, that puts to shame all the rest. Furthermore, it's like there are no medics or coroners of any decent level at all there, even in the captital. It could have been believable if it was some backwater village, but it's been deliberate and forced here to make the rest look dumb and her to stand out.
So all in all, her background is not believable and feels forced - a sheltered daughter of a judge, who out of nowhere got as if decades of experience as a coroner, a sleuth and a medic. Sure, her father could have told her some, she could have read some books, and got some experience at the medical valley (though she didn't live there for 10 years like the real person she took her persona from did). But it's been made clear she wasn't allowed to conduct real autopsies or investigations before the start of drama.
The actress is also rather stiff and they overdid something with her eyebrows and makeup, making her look older that she actually is.
ML is also pretty meh, your typical pretty boy general (though is so thin and non-muscly, it's rather hard to believe he trains in martial arts), who's got all the power to order people around and allow FL to help him conduct investigations. He got into her out of nowhere very early on, while investigating her fraudulent persona.
Often having FL very conviniently to be present at just the right place to save high ranking people from death, as well as solving cases like no other grants her tons of boons over the span of the story. And ML is fawning over her like a simp basically from the very beginning. If it's your cup of tea for romances, then go for it. Personally, the more it went on, the more cringe it looked.
Dorky side couples weren't interesting either, since most of those young actors were overacting too much.
It also has too many useless side characters that don't contribute much to the story. You gotta pay attention who's who in those sprawling scheming families, with more cartoonish characters introduced every few episodes.
Anyway, overhyped and I'm genuinely disappointed.

Fine drama with brilliant plot ...... but with so-so acting
The drama 'Coroner's Diary ' is very interesting in the concepts of plot and story but truth to be told ... Here are some of my suggestion points :1. Drama is excellent in plots and how does the story takes each turn
2. ML and FL confessed there feelings too early .
3. Supporting characters are more interesting.
4. According to plot of the drama ML should be cunning but his cunningness is of 0% .
5.2nd ML have more interesting past .
Overall i can say this drama is not re-watchable and i don't basically like Yan Chi 's character he plays to be clever but he actually dumb also he is distracting FL from her goal . Everyone in the Imperial court knows shen yi is a criminal but ML is praising him in front of his enemy just to make FL happy praising shen yi is already suspicious and also shows ML is never cautious . Also ML is very annoying knowing that disclosing his relationship in front yuanwu princesses can endanger Qin Wan 's life then also he started to be lovey - dovey in front of princess . When Qin Wan stops Yan Chi from holding her hand in front of others as to not invite troubles than also yan chi can not just control himself even a bit and tries to be intimate with Qin Wan in front of outsiders . Also Ao rui peng 's acting needs a lot of improvement but landy's acting is amazing.Let me just say i 'm watching drama only because of 2nd ML and FL they are very intresting if they were not in this drama , this drama won't be watchable.

This will be my 3rd review of a series in this site... this CSI historical drama is one of the best, with many different crimes and plot-twist in the end. Anyway, i believe this drama should be at least 40 eps, but (must be the C.G's doing) its only 38, and they just wrap and be done with it... ahhh, i wish they would make a S2 of this.Was this review helpful to you?
Dull with an overly sweet and unrealistic romance
I usually am a sucker for this genre but a few things here werent working for me. Firstly, the cases just werent interesting.Secondly, i couldnt really stand the leads after awhile. The FL comes off dull and lacking in any type of emotions. Her "im so kind n smart n self righteous" schtick got really boring after awhile. This is my first time watching li landi and i didnt find her very charismatic. Ao ruipeng was no better. His character seemed 2 dimensional, actually both of them were very 2 D and he seemed to exist just to serve the FL. He saves her from all sorts of ridiculously dangerous situations. The romance - ugh more than 50% of the shows focus was on the romance and even that was dull. Perfect, sweet and overly cloying. Neither of them seemed to have any faults and he was practically a simp for her from day 1. There wasnt any tension, they never quarrelled.. just nothing. While the actors has rapport i didnt feel much chemistry and their scenes were quite contrived.
Overall quite a disappointing watch.

One of the best cdramas I've ever watched!!!! JUST GORGEOUS
This might be one of the best cdramas I've ever seen. My favorite cdramas to date have been love o2o, love between fairy and devil, lighter & princess, the double and the first frost. I didn't think any dramas would top them, but Coroner's Diary soared to at least top 3. It had EVERYTHING I've been looking for in a drama. Beautiful characters, gorgeous costumes, plot twists, and a romance that was slow burn and yearning with mutual respect!!!!!! It was just so addicting. The different cases throughout the drama, the connections between one event and the next, and the tension!!! I loved how the fml wasn't a fighter, but she had her own wits and skills in solving cases while the ml was mutually aiding her and cheering her on! It kind of reminded me of the feels I had while watching the double. It was just so INTERESTING!!!!!I've never seen a li landi and ARP drama before, but I love them both SO SO SO MUCH now!!!!!! She's so pretty and he's incredibly handsome. Also, can I say how amazing their acting was? I was caught off guard with their micro expressions, tone and eyes! INCREDIBLE ACTING.

Murder, Mystery, and a Dash of Romance – The Coroner's Diary Review
If The Imperial Coroner and The Coroner's Diary were siblings, I'd say the elder sibling (Imperial Coroner) is sharper in intrigue and mystery 🔍, while the younger (Coroner's Diary) is sweeter with more heart-eyes and romantic fluff 💕.I loved The Coroner's Diary! The cast did a great job—solid performances all around. The ML had charm, brains, and just enough puppy energy to make us root for him 🐶. The FL was smart, steady, and not the type to faint at the sight of blood—finally, someone who knows what a coroner is supposed to be! 🙌
That said... The Imperial Coroner still holds the crown when it comes to mystery, plot twists, and pacing 👑. It had a slightly tighter grip on the crime-solving, while The Coroner's Diary sometimes got distracted by its own romantic tension (not complaining, just saying 😏). If you came for the forensics and stayed for the feels, this one delivers both, just with more uwu moments.
Both dramas are worth watching, depending on what you want more of—mystery or mush. Personally, I watched one after the other and had a great time bingeing. Would I watch it again? Probably when I forget who the killer was 🤭.
Final verdict: Fun, romantic, a little less gritty than its predecessor but still full of charm.🧪🕵️♀️💗
