This is a disappointment
I'm really disappointed at the Background of the male lead here.. why they have to write on such sensible topics.. you guys should know how to respect other religions. This is not acceptable at all.. I'm just lots of words rn.. There are many reasons behind this outrage. they didn't have to this.if they wanted to make a drama about genie or jinn they couldve made it with a random jinn..why they adopt the story of ilbis here??? Disappointing and disrespectful regarding religion
This drama disrespects Islam and spreads a distorted image of the religion. When the story was written they should research it properly. Iblis is an important figure in Islamic belief.Who he is: Iblis is a jinn who refused to bow to Prophet Adam (AS) when Allah commanded the angels and jinn to do so.
Because of his arrogance and pride, he was cast out of Allah’s mercy.
From then on, Iblis became the enemy of humankind, vowing to mislead people away from Allah’s path until the Day of Judgment.
Unlike angels, who never disobey Allah, Iblis was a jinn and had free will—so he chose to disobey. Overall very disappointing 😒

Scattered, Shallow, and Disappointing — Genie: Make a Wish Misses Its Mark
As a long-time admirer of Bae Suzy's work, I went into Genie, Make a Wish with high expectations, trusting that her presence would, at minimum, guarantee a watchable drama. Sadly, this fantasy-rom-com turned out to be a profound disappointment - so much so that I couldn't bring myself to finish it.The premise - a charismatic, satanic Genie meets a psychopathic, rule-following master - is intriguing, and Bae Suzy's portrayal of the emotionless Ka-young, who lives strictly by her grandmother's moral code to prevent a serial murder spree, is commendably precise. The core character concept is one of the drama's few strengths.
However, the execution falters dramatically. The visual effects (VFX) are noticeably poor, cheapening the overall fantasy aesthetic. Furthermore, the acting from a number of the supporting cast is disappointingly irritating, distracting from the central conflict. The introduction and handling of key side characters, such as the Jaguar (Sayyid) feel incredibly weak and poorly developed, and their convoluted backstories make very little sense in the larger narrative.
The drama suffers from a severe case of "a lot happening, but nothing happening". It introduces numerous plot points without proper extrapolation or meaningful exploration. For example, Ka-young's sudden wealth is never convincingly established or explained. Instead of feeling like a complex story, the pacing is a chaotic, frustrating mess that merely 'goes through the motions.' The characters, rather than being complex or nuanced, are often reduced to cartoonish caricatures, making it impossible to emotionally invest in their fates.
In the end, despite the magnetic presence of Bae Suzy, Genie, Make a Wish fails to coalesce into a coherent or compelling narrative. The combination of irritating performances, poor special effects, and a sprawling, underdeveloped plot made the viewing experience unbearable. It is a frustrating misfire that misses the point of its own unique premise.

This drama has hurt the religious beliefs of Muslims .
This drama's story and characters are controversial. Angels are disrespected in this drama. Whereas for Muslims they are sacred.Again,devil is shown as a good person. That is, the faith of Islam has been completely disputed.,Kdrama is very famous all over the world. So it is never desirable to insult any religion through it. But through this drama, wrong information has been given about Islam. K-drama has really disappointed with this drama.

Disappointing and disrepsectful
Although I like the main cast, when the trailer first came out and saw many in the Muslim community found the use of Iblis as one of the main characters as disrespectful, I started to lose interest. But when it dropped today and I had time I decided to try. Never mind the storyline being very cliche and uninteresting, the writing lacking, the timeline confusing, unfortunately the acting of the ML and FL is truly terrible. They are unable to inhabit the characters nor make them believable, and lack chemistry. Huge disappointment not worth the watch. The cast did a good job, and Kim Woo Bin was definitely the highlight for me — handsome, charismatic, and enjoyable to watch. He was honestly the main reason I kept watching.
The story idea is new, but the execution is weak. The pacing is slow, and the drama fails to create enough excitement to make you want to continue to the next episode. Many scenes feel dragged out, and the dialogues are overly long and unnecessary.
In addition, the use of Arabic felt completely unnecessary and added nothing to the story. Instead of enhancing the drama, it made some scenes feel awkward and disconnected.
Although there are a few funny moments, they’re not enough to save the drama from feeling boring at times. Overall, the story feels incomplete, like something important is missing and the potential wasn’t fully used.
Sadly, despite the strong cast, it doesn’t feel worth your time.

In a series of kim eun sook’s What to plagiarise next
The writer is really going out if ideas so this time she decideds to plagiarise a muslim story. Wow so original. Religious sentiment apart i still wanted to watch it because of suzy but damn its such a bore. It’s like a recycled and half arsed version of kim eun sook’s old dramas. The most annoying thing is i waited 2 years for this. The story and chacracters are unlikeable and anticlimatic. the initial narrative is really misleading. Are they just combining several beliefs with the pop culture story of a thousand and one nights? What is certain is that the use of the name 'iblis' is specific to only one belief, considering that other beliefs don't use that name. If this is fiction, then the author has the opportunity to find another, more secular name, like 'ifreet' perhaps or 'Bael' something sound bit mideast. it would really help the overall development of the narrative for this romance.What makes this drama really annoying is the naming of the main characters which is too stiff and monotonous, so I decided not to continue watching this drama.
I understand why some communities object the narrative of the drama and it should be a consideration for other script writers, in the future; to write fantasy scripts neatly.

A Wish Worth Making
I don't usually watch fantasy dramas, so I started *Genie, Make a Wish* without expecting it to leave such a lasting impression. But by the end, I realized the fantasy was never really the point, it was simply the perfect way to tell a deeply human story.This drama is about love, healing, sacrifice, and the choices we make for the people we care about. It explores what it truly means to put someone else's happiness before your own, and it does so with so much heart that every emotional moment feels earned. Rather than relying on its fantasy premise, it uses it to ask questions about selflessness, fate, and what we're willing to give up for the people we love.
Every episode was beautiful. The cinematography is stunning, the scenery is breathtaking, and every frame feels carefully crafted. Combined with a beautiful soundtrack, the drama creates such a warm and comforting atmosphere that I found myself completely immersed in every episode.
The chemistry between Kim Woo-bin and Suzy is one of the strongest I've seen in a long time. Their relationship feels effortless, built on trust, understanding, and quiet moments that say more than words ever could. They made me laugh, they made me cry, and they made me root for them from beginning to end.
What surprised me the most is that this drama changed my perspective on fantasy as a genre. I always thought it wasn't for me, but Genie, Make a Wish proved that when a story is written with this much care, the genre becomes secondary. What stays with you it's the emotions, the sacrifices, and the characters.
By the time I finished the final episode, I wasn't thinking about wishes or magic. I was thinking about love in its purest form: the kind that asks for nothing in return, the kind that sacrifices, heals, and changes people for the better.
This is one of the most heartfelt and comforting dramas I've watched, and I know I'll be thinking about it for a very long time.

Great show, but..
I loved this show. It hooked me up straight away, since the first episode.I have an 8 as score just because sometimes it seemed rushed and confusing in vetting parts, and obviously for something that many viewers I'm sure, will agree with me about.
What the hell happened at the end.
How and why she became a Jinniya?! How and why she appeared to her friend in the cemetery?
This half ass explanation is all we get in the show,
"after a thousand years love with a genie, you have now become a Jinniya" That part just didn't make any sense.
First, what genie are we talking about because Iblis is dead so he can't be the genie they are talking about,and then, a1000 years?!? She died like few days before this scene.
So sorry but the last episode was just very messy and inconsistent with the story so far. It's a pity because up until that point the show was great.

Interesting Premise
It had a better ending than the start in my opinion.Was a bit boring at first, but glad I stuck it out!
Felt like it had a lot of plot points going at once sometimes, so some weren't as flushed out as they could have been, but still a decent drama!
I think the acting was good in general and was a bit surprised with Suzy as I'm not the biggest fan of her acting (loved when she was a singer lol). I think this kind of role fit her!
It did get a few tears out of me the last 3 episodes. I would definitely say give it a shot!
