Season Finale deserves everything!

(mild spoilers ahead)

This is going to be really short because I need to get to work but hey, at least I'm trying, I guess? S4 started off with the spectre of S2 and S3 still hanging about our heads (NEVER ever going to move on from them!) and yet, the first episode did a great job of drawing us into the plot.

Not going to lie, there were times when things felt awkward (and everyone looked at TvN suspiciously) and for the most of the season it was the villain who kept up the pace and attention. I did, however, realise as the story developed that there was a sense of preparation for something bigger, and the Season Finale did indeed redeem the mid-season dragging.

I'm very excited for S5 now. B*** J**** is back! So glad to know that the plot remembers the S3 post-credit scene which means quite a lot of thought has indeed gone into this season. That said, it would be good to keep in mind that this season works as a prologue to the bigger story yet to come.

Other stellar moments from the finale, for me, include us finally having a get-together lunch where the ML actually attends the team lunch because I'm still a bit salty that our Team Leader Do never did that. I'm telling you its the little things! But no for real, the stellar moment is that this time we can anticipate Kang Center going off the radar and doing stuff outside the call room. She's my fav character so I'm looking forward to know more about her and the whole Fabre plot coming back makes me very interested in the things to come.

The upcoming villain, the woman whose face we have yet to see, has already set the interest quite high!

And of course, Det. Cho whom a lot of people struggled with throughout the series because seriously, the character is written as someone who doesn't like to work with strangers at all (and likes being hero too) but in terms of Kang Center's previous partners, I'd say he's not as wild as the Team Leaders Moo and Do. Apart from a few outbursts, he's the softer out of the three and I appreciate that because wild, unresponsive MLs can get very repetitive (and a bit annoying, there I said it). Which is why I was sad when he seemed to be packing up to go away. We just got to know him! And that after the season did handle his story a lot (in hindsight, it could have been to get it out of the way before setting the stage for S5) would have been confusing. So, the foreshadowing at the end! Very exciting.

I really liked everyone's acting. The recurring actors are of course, really good and I've been happy to see Song Seung Heon and Winner Yoon (my Winner bias, everyone!) as part of a series I like. Dae-shik's character and actor making a return was really favourable too.

Finally, the references to Team Leader Do :') Maybe small bits of closure for the fans too. Maybe I'll start down and write a proper review for the whole season one day but for now, I had a lot of feelings and I wanted to pen it down somewhere. I don't know if this will be helpful for anyone. It's just little old me and my feelings so sorry about that. Just ignore if this was annoying.

P.S. I did notch down a 0.5 from my initial rating because of some very odd dialogues and a strange bit of scripting in ep8 (old abusive man and his son's story), you'll know if you know. Disappointing wrap-up and romanticising of a serious issue there.

P.P.S. The finale did make me bring up the ranking for obvious reasons described in my review above.
