After escaping, Zhou Kui begins to suspect Zhou Ruo Xi of betraying him, but she convinces him of her loyalty. Meanwhile, Li Shu anxiously searches for Zhou Ruo Yao, while Fu Wei suspects Zhou Kui has not fled Qingzhou and is instead preparing one final attack. Remembering the emperor's sudden death in her previous life, she fears history is about to repeat itself. Fu Wei's suspicions prove correct as Zhou Kui's followers secretly plant explosives throughout Qingzhou, while his brother, disguised as the chief eunuch, helps him infiltrate the palace. There, Zhou Kui reveals that he is the former crown prince of Daqing and launches his long-awaited coup.
