Tian Fen uses his new influence as prime minister for personal gain, leading Liu Che to voice his displeasure to Empress Wang. Zifu worries that this incident will cause a rift between mother and son. Zifu leaves the palace to oversee the moving of her mother’s grave onto new land. She meets Dou Ying and discovers that the land was forcibly taken by Tian Fen. She persuades her older brother to return the land. Guan Fu causes a scene at Tian Fen’s wedding, and he visits Empress Wang to complain. Hiding his own transgressions, he accuses Zifu’s family of greed.
