Sakutaro is staying at the Kuji household, keeping busy with work as a cram school teacher and at a translation school. Meanwhile, Kuji has been gradually sorting through books and furniture filled with memories of his father, preparing to hand the house over to his older brother Minoru’s family. One day, Minoru arrives with his juniors to help, and the house is cleared out in no time. Sitting together on the now-empty veranda, the brothers begin reminiscing about their father.
