Aisin Gioro Yinsi is the 8th Prince of Emperor Kangxi and a low-ranked concubine. Because of his mother's low birth status, he has always strived to earn his father's approval and acknowledgement by being better than his half-brothers, and he soon developed a reputation for being an intelligent, learned and cultured prince.
He has strong ambitions for the throne because he believes that he is as qualified, if not more, than his brothers to succeed and rule the country. He cultivated a close cohort of Emperor Kangxi's princes as his supporters which consisted of:-
- Aisin Gioro Yintang (9th Prince)
- Aisin Gioro Yin'e (10th Prince)
- Aisin Gioro Yinti (14th Prince)
He has 2 wives:-
- Gororo Minghui (primary consort); and
- Maertai Ruolan (secondary consort).
When Maertai Ruoxi entered his household as his secondary consort's sister, he eventually fell for her and wanted to also marry her but when asked if he could give up the throne for love, he was unable to do so.
