I think that scene of Jing He with blood running down the sides of his mouth as if he were the Joker, then he falls down to see his brother's face looking at his father who is leaving through the palace door. I think this makeup was suggested by Liu Xue Yi (my guess), and it has a meaning. At first glance, JH is the villain, the Joker, but on second glance, who is the villain? (I don't know, I think this meaning is conveyed). Although this time Jing He is wearing white (here maybe there is another meaning), despite all appearances, he is the reverse of his brother.(Although we already knew that, these elements emphasize the meaning).

  • Kaseh Esmiralda

If you talk about clothes, I'm realize too. CP always wearing white and Jinghe black(sometime red) in the beginning. White is pure and black/red is villain colour. But for the latest episode, Jinghe wearing white is a meaning that he is in the right side.

Jinghe wearing black when he show as villain to push Meilin away. But after that he wearing white again.

What an interesting description. Thank you!?✍️?

The interviewer asks him if the ending is happy or sad. Look at his face at that moment.

LM and YQ characters are both calm and collected. I didn’t see anything wrong in their acting. The traits of their character is fully shown. People just have bad impression about them that’s why they never pay attention. But YQ changes his eyes and gave off different vibes so many times throughout the drama that there’s even an article talking about that in China. And LM is a general, she needs to stay cold and calm. If you watch those two actors in other drama, you will see how flexible they are.
And the ML and CP are the crazy one lol, that’s why they need to be dimensional right from the beginning LOL.

Ok, her case - I always despise hearing small little child's cries instead of women's cries in dramas but by now I am used to it from China. I like her,I like her acting, I like her eyes and her face and the way she portrays the character with her facial expressions (btw, I don't know her from any other role of hers - I have no clue whatsoever if she do the same things with her face all the time like for example I would be loved Dilraba - or not, idk nor do i care now) - she is a little bit less strong woman and a little bit less strong warrior than we are used to and a little bit less strong leader then we like to consume these days, she is a little bit more feminine and little bit more women like then that. She lets herself be led, despite having her own cleverness feminine beauty feminine cleverness and having her own opinions, wishes, desires and dreams. She acknowledges roles of leaders, does not overshadow them, which is making her seem a little bit less as any character in comparison to all of the strong women with bright and sharp intelligence who do over shadow the authorities, but for me it makes her even more interesting character to learn from if you don't want to go this mainstream strong women way. For the role ( and for the role of every other male in the series) to make her like this and for her position in that story, it just makes sense and I am actually grateful for it because it's a nice abbreviation from the typical warrior women, tha has to be at all costs tough. There is this narrative of her being worse actress than is the main male lead good actor. If I want to, I would pick up his shortcomings too, but because I like this series I like the storytelling I like parts of it very much and again I am usually typically boy love genre audience, I still like this series very much (Is currently on top of my most favorite five non-bl genre series from China) despite it having no strong monologues and no dep overreaching clever dialogues. But again I love the game of the intelligence steaming from the action and from the conversations because they don't seem overly flat (as much as they don't seem overly deep) - they are just good and enough for me to enjoy the parts that are actually worth watching in this project. But I ended up atomize and judge separately for some strange reason (based on other people's comments and perspectives and points of others) and that makes this series injustice - cutting it into slices and criticize those. I don't want to do it with this one - I enjoy it as a whole.
Hope u will too. <3
P.S.And I just have to praise the costumes they are so beautiful!

@kavzz07 = after series finishes and (only) ppl (willing to rate it) watched it all (and decided to rate)? What feels not really ... hm, fair? ... about that process? But honesly, i would turn it around, let people decide if they will blieve in mdl ratings or not. For me personally I would not protest 8.9 rating so far, or 10... but wait, i don't actually care for ratings one way or the other, so i am not representative in that, I see. Hm. We have here a dilema then. ?

I noticed something in the conversation between Jing He and his father. Look at the father's body language (he didn't touch his son's hands). There's a measured distance. And in Jing He, there's a hurt (but also an understanding of why his father acted like that towards him). "You, more than my father, are the emperor." (episode 24)

  • EsteYnCent

The Father wanted to hold his son, the Emperor would not permit it

It is the basis and tragedy of their relationship and why the Emperor chose to turn his back on his son all those years ago.

    • eliteles1  VIP

Yes, perfectly described by you, that's why Jing He was closer to his mother and his mother was the one who prevented him from losing himself as a person and becoming a monster (with that hidden message on the board).

    • unbeliebubble

      Great explanation. ^^

    • unbeliebubble

@eliteles1 Thank you eliteles1, for pointing that out. It is totally true. The Empress Deija's message "cuddled" his heart. And he could feel love .

      • eliteles1  VIP

Thank you! And it is an essential message in this drama (this inner progression) of the main couple. (Like in the opening song: "We are both a light about to go out" but at the end of the song: "We will be reborn by fire". Something like that.
The two were supposed to destroy each other in the end, but the opposite is happening (a reconstruction of themselves).
The relationships between parents and children (may be subtle) in this drama, but very important to the plot.?️?❤️

And now I remember: This behavior of the father towards his son (I had already noticed it in another scene. In previous episodes, when Jing He, sick in bed, the father was going to hold his son's hands and restricted himself).

    • unbeliebubble

@eliteles1 Yes, wow I like that we discuss about parenting in this drama. It is so unpredictible, yet so important for the plot.
After the Empress Deija's message, MRJH let his guard down and he was able to fall in love with Mei Lin. I feel that I love the drama even more now. thank you :)

PS : If there is a forshadowing in the song, the ending should be happy :)

Liu Xue Yi talking in the drama makeup room.

Entertainment Ba Nan

Yesterday at 16:47 from the iPhone client

Liu Xueyi is worthy of being a big man in Shandong, he is really a big and generous party, not twisting, when the host asked him if he had any experience in filming kiss scenes.
Liu Xueyi said generously, look at what you said, I am in my thirties, and I am not an innocent little boy, can I have no experience.
The host asked him about his experience in kissing scenes, and Liu Xueyi said that first of all, it is necessary to keep it hygienic, clean and refreshing.
The second is to concentrate and strive for a pass, so that you and the rival actress can be less embarrassed.
I feel that Liu Xueyi really gives people a very sincere feeling, never hides it, and does not pretend to be innocent like some male stars, born from the heart, Liu Xueyi feels very comfortable and refreshing as a whole.

#5 Does that mean that the real culprit for the Qingzhou Massacre is still out there and that she will get her revenge in taking him down? Or is it really different writers not bothering to get their ducks lined up in a row? The Xiyan General may be involved. Cdramas like to give the 2MLs storylines where there is a secondary romance with the FL. In this case it shows that he may have the body but not the heart. Is she repaying the debt for freeing her family? Had she killed the CP could she have escaped punishment? Gen. Lin or Mei Lin, which would make a more fitting agent of justice for the fallen by killing the CP?
    eliteles1  VIP
I think the story shows that Mei Lin understands that Jing He's confronting his own brother and punishing him is for the greater good (achieving her goal of justice). But... I don't know... it seems like the plot wants to show us that there were more people involved? (Prince Yue Qin still doesn't seem like that bad person to me, he has sensitivity in small actions throughout the drama and even now). This plot also seems to want to show that no evil (at least among the main characters) is totally evil, there is some humanity in each of them.

  • Regina de Sá

@eliteles1 Yes. I remember that strange dialog...

and like always ml fall first and harder and do everything in n time she helping smls and then get with ml at the end if it's a happy ending, cliches of historical Cdrama lol
    thank you for answering ?

    • eliteles1  VIP

The crown prince never liked her (Mei lin, female lead) in this drama. He always liked the female general, Luo Mei. And Luo Mei has liked the Male lead, Jing He (who never reciprocated her feelings) since childhood, but she didn't insist on it, and even in the story, later she falls in love with the crown prince (despite all the evil things he did ). As for Yue Qin, he likes Mei Lin (but Mei Lin), never reciprocated this love (in any way). She is just grateful, and so far in the drama (there has been nothing concrete between them). This drama is a little different from other dramas.

  • unbeliebubble

@Drama watcher @drama watcher/otakoshanks You are always negatively biased against every female lead every time I see you on a page. You just, came here and you are already dissing the Female Lead. Trying to ask people if she is hooking up with several Male Leads.

After that, let me guess, you will call Male Lead a simp ????!

HaveNoJams

So from the brief skimming I've done, this show went from YESSSS so excited to ughhh what even is this in 24 episodes...?
What happened? Is it still worth watching (as someone that's indifferent to the actors)? Or has the writing/story gone down the drain? There's A LOT of new dramas coming out of China in Oct/Nov, so I'm trying to weed out the duds in advance, lol.

  • eliteles1  VIP

This drama is not and will not be a failure in any way. Despite all the flaws and not being able to maintain the rhythm it set in the first episodes, I think this drama is very special. And the wonderful things that happened in the first half of this drama will be answered in the final episodes of the drama. All the pieces of this romantic and psychological chess game will be put in place. (But I hope for a He ending, like in the book). I don't know if the writers think so, at least one of the 4 writers.

When I read that they made many changes to the book plot, I got worried about the conclusion.

  • eliteles1  VIP

@QAS But these changes made the male protagonist perfectly deserving of his happy ending. Do you get the point? Because in the book (the deplorable actions of the male protagonist, especially in the first third of the book) if they were kept (it was like saying: female writer of the original novel, we screenwriters, we can't keep the happy ending you wrote for your protagonist, it's impossible, sorry).
However, the changes they made are like saying: Okay, now, we made all these changes for one reason: we want a redeemed, transformed hero with a happy ending with the heroine, enjoying the flowers (the biggest symbol of this story), as the original female writer wrote in her book.
(The negative becoming positive), as the director said.

The book author wrote the happy ending, to give the main lead, redemption for his despicable actions.

      Hide Spoiler

Yes, in the book: apparently, (for the purpose of redeeming him at the end) female writer leaves the male protagonist paralyzed (for most of the book), depending on Mei Lin for survival. There are many moments of humiliation for him in the book. He can only use his brain and knowledge from being a prince and general to help her in the moments when they are running away from the villainous brother who is on their trail, much of the book.

If I could, I would like to write a book. But I don't know if I could, even if I studied the techniques, I don't know. But... I would like to... yes I would like to, even if it took me 10 years to try to write like the scriptwriters of another drama by Liu Xue Yi that I watched: "In Blossom", he took exactly that long to write his plot.?

  • QAS  VIP

    @eliteles1

    Hide Spoiler

I wrote a drama script, and it took me fifteen years to formulate the final plot. I might have had five iterations of the plot over time. It's sitting in my computer, resting. I probably could have attempted to convert it into a book, but I am not good at descriptive writing. Dialog writing was easier, but that does not capture the quirks and idiosyncrasies of the characters. If you have a germ of an idea, you could start writing. It was nice chatting with you today.

    • eliteles1  VIP

I even signed up for an online creative writing course here in my country. I need to keep studying. And not give up, as you said: let the germ of the idea flourish. Thank you!
PS: I hope you can have success with your book, that is, reach the minds and hearts of your audience with your book.
