I really don't think you're in the minority on this one. haha. The addition of the amnesia trope in the final hour was a really poor writing choice.

Really? Lol maybe I just read 2 or 3 comments.. I never understand why the drama always need to put amnesia thing.. Is it so easy to lost your memory? .

Actually in car scene is really sad.. I feel bad for Jiwon.. its like hyunso crying to make her understand that he want to move on without her..

I think most people would have preferred that the amenesia trope wasn't included, but of those people, there a some willing to concede that the characterization following the amnesia was handled well.

I'm not one of them. I'm still bitter. haha.

As touching as it was to see him still buying those egg pie thingies for his daughter and not know why, the whole amnesia thing was really just a ploy to emotionally manipulate the audience.

Haha I'm one of those who don't like it but choose to accept and rationalize it so that I can find a closure for this series.
Ending of Scarlet Heart still stings and that one I can't ever accept.

Anyway, I love healthy discussions that go about in the comments. Because we know the ending doesn't undermine the overall quality of the drama.

What irks me sometimes tho are pure hate comments with no context at all. lol

Yeah I agree..even though this amnesia thing makes me can't accept the ending but I cry with them...

I'm not a fan of the amnesia plot device, however I wasn't even that bothered by it. What really annoyed me though was how they just made all the regular police officers totally incompetent to progress the plot (getting knocked out by an injured suspect in a hospital??). Especially the conclusion on the cliff. I mean the killer was already injured and exhausted and there were like 20 officers on the scene. Yet, miraculously he managed to snatch a gun from one of them? I mean come on, they could have come up with something more believable.

The more I think about it, the more I can understand why they went that route. Amnesia isn't my favorite trope, but I think in this case--especially seeing that he is slowly getting back some of his memories of his wife and daughter--it works because it will help them both realize that their marriage isn't just a sham. I think they both might've harbored doubts about its legitimacy if they hadn't had to go through time apart and fully grasp how much the other person means to them and how much they need each other. Now that he's let go of the full weight of his past, he'll be able to build a more solid, stable future.

That being said, I'm REALLY pissed that murderer just died instead of rotting in jail!!!

The only thing I didn't like was that the real Baek Hee Sung died and his father went crazy (which is what I believed happened to him). I wish they were alive / sane and then got punished at court before being imprisoned.

I nearly had a heart attack when they threw in the amnesia angle in the last episode.  I thought the writers had lost their minds to utilize such and overused cliche when the writing was so good, it was unnecessary and seemed to negate the efforts they had made as couple to get to this point.  But, surprisingly, it actually works here.  He is able to find his way back and fall in love all over again.  My heart just broke for Jiwon that she might lose her husband.  Luckily, it worked out for them and I am thankful.

People who like strong endings can stop at ep 15.

Ep 16 is for the ones who love happy endings.

I need more happy ending between them

@RamenKingAndI this is perfectly said. That would have been a perfect ending

I thought the ending was really good. At first I hated the ending because I was afraid of watching it so I read what happened. Then I went back and watched the ending and thought it fit perfectly with the story.

At the end of episode 15, with him in bed in the white room, his subconscious was giving him permission to rest. To release his pain. It's like he took a breath.

The amnesia allowed him to accept how he was. He hated himself in a way because of what everyone said about him. He didn't know who he was. He thought he was a bad person and couldn't accept the love coming from his wife. He felt he didn't deserve her love.

He didn't know how he'd change.

Now he has to accept who he is, forgive himself and figure out who he is. The amnesia allows him to be his true self. To never question his love and reasons for doing things. To finally understand himself. To stop hiding, stop running and to live.

He had to come to it himself. He couldn't accept people telling him who he is. He needed to accept himself and come to it on his own.

Which he did and is starting to.

hated it. surprisingly, the amnesia made sense but what happened after didn't.

the best ending would've been if one of the main characters died. or if do hyun su had just cut cha ji won out of his life completely and broken her heart.

this drama didn't need to have a happy ending. i really hoped the writers would've gone for something more unconventional.
