1. The Crowned Clown
Korean Drama - 2019, 16 episodes
I pretty much jumped into this show with no expectations or idea of what it was really about. Now, this is now one my favorite dramas and among the few shows that I felt truly immersed in and connected to the characters. It's been quite a while since a show has made me feel this way and I would definitely rewatch it in the future. Some of the key points that really make this drama are the acting of Yeo Jin Goo, who plays two roles in this show so convincingly; the character development and the relationships that form; and finally, the wonderful OST which I am in love with and plan on listening to regularly. If you like historical dramas with politics and suspense, strong character development, and something that might make you cry, then I would recommend this to you. Need I go on? Go ahead and start watching.

A skilled neurosurgeon finds himself stuck in the past and hopes that he can advance medical knowledge far enough to save his fiance in the future.

3. Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo
Korean Drama - 2016, 20 episodes

4. The Last Empress
Korean Drama - 2018, 52 episodes
Not a historical drama, but it involves an alternate Korea where the royal family still have influence and power. Since it involves politics surrounding the royal family, I thought it was an appropriate fit for this category.
