MY C-DRAMA FAVES!

Discovered C-Dramas soon after but had not watched as often as K-Dramas.  These happen to be some of my favorites, with more to add soon, of course.

  • Who Rules the World

    1. Who Rules the World

    Chinese Drama - 2022, 40 episodes

Completed June 2022… Love both leads, and everythingabout this, the costumes, the story, the martial arts.  The entire production was just as impressive as much as I enjoyed The Long Ballad.  Guess all these costume pieces have been a new favorite of mine this past year.  I’m hooked!  LoL

  • Love Like the Galaxy: Part 1

    2. Love Like the Galaxy: Part 1

    Chinese Drama - 2022, 27 episodes

Completed 2023.  Such a grand scale production from costumes to location sets.  From the start, there’s enough humor in it that gets me hooked.  The FL is intelligent but cunning enough to defend herself and survive the predicaments she’s forced to deal with from everyone that makes trouble for her.

  • Love Like the Galaxy: Part 2

    3. Love Like the Galaxy: Part 2

    Chinese Drama - 2022, 29 episodes

Completed 2023.  Seems like everyone is against her, even her mother does things that will make your heart break.  Then, the admirer and hero comes to her side, to protect her and love her but of course, she’s stubborn and set in her own ways.  As most love stories are told, the two eventually learn to love and support each other even through the hardest of times and decisions to make.  There were quite a lot of heartbreaks in this one will still make you love the characters more and appreciate the show.

  • The Long Ballad

    4. The Long Ballad

    Chinese Drama - 2021, 49 episodes

    10

Completed 2021.  One of the longest shows I’ve watched of ANY Asian drama so far, so it took me a while.  But again, it makes for a great show when I find myself wanting to watch it multiple times, and it ends up on my favorites list.  I’m a new fan of Leo Wu, too!  Good lord, this guy is handsome!

  • Falling into Your Smile

    5. Falling into Your Smile

    Chinese Drama - 2021, 31 episodes

    10

Completed July 2021.  Finally caught up to this during my vacation and loved, loved, loved it!  I’m a new fan of Xu Kai (he’s so tall and so handsome)!  There was something about his presence on screen just made me swoon every time, ha!  Gotta catch up to more of his work now, yeah!

  • You Are My Glory

    6. You Are My Glory

    Chinese Drama - 2021, 32 episodes

Completed August 2021.  I actually subscribed to WeTV so I could watch this right away, and I’m so glad I did.  Love both Yang Yang and Dilraba, and to watch them in such a loving story I enjoyed it so much!  A simple story of two young people, although from different paths in careers can still find a neutral ground to make their relationship work, especially when they love each other.  Very warm story, hope you enjoy it too!

  • The Sword and the Brocade

    7. The Sword and the Brocade

    Chinese Drama - 2021, 45 episodes

Completed April 2021.  Worth the Watch!  Overall, story is heartwarming.  Strong female and male lead characters, how they endure the many obstacles in their lives and in their own fated relationship.  Two thumbs up!

  • Love O2O

    8. Love O2O

    Chinese Drama - 2016, 30 episodes

    10

Completed 2020.  Browsing curiously one day and came across this one.  Immediately loved it that I found myself replaying it too often until deciding to move on to the next show!  Of course, I fell in love with actor Yang Yang, too!

  • Stand by Me

    9. Stand by Me

    Chinese Drama - 2021, 49 episodes

    10

Completed September 2021.  Another C-Drama almost as long as The Long Ballad but it kept me interested and impatiently waiting to see the next episode!  So, even if it’s a super long show but it can tell a good story throughout, you don’t even notice how many episodes there are.

  • A Little Thing Called First Love

    10. A Little Thing Called First Love

    Chinese Drama - 2019, 36 episodes

    10

Completed 2019.  My very first C-Drama and I’m glad it was.  Sweet, innocent young love always has a good story.  A cute young girl discovers her first crush, becomes a dear close friend to him, and how their relationship blossoms.  Loved it!

  • Go Go Squid!

    11. Go Go Squid!

    Chinese Drama - 2019, 41 episodes

    10

Completed 2020.  Another curious find, and loved it!  The typical cold hearted guy and the girl who ends up opening his heart.  Good story, funny and romance.  Game on!

  • To Fly With You

    12. To Fly With You

    Chinese Drama - 2021, 35 episodes

    10

Loved everything about this show.  Light hearted, funny and inspirational.  Young adults striving to achieve goals and dreams, and in between balancing different kinds of relationships.  The heartbreaks of the past and misunderstandings, but how the characters overcome it.  The angst of young love, ahhhh, such a difficult thing to handle sometimes.  Although, at first the ML and FL don’t necessarily look compatible, they definitely understand and sincerely care for each other.  Great pairing of characters.  The OST was great too, I’d let the credits run just to listen to the music.

  • Meteor Garden

    13. Meteor Garden

    Chinese Drama - 2018, 50 episodes

    10

Completed 2019.  My second favorite C-Drama, because I was curious to watch the storyline similar to the K-Drama version Boys Over Flowers.  Surprisingly, I liked it a lot!

  • Professional Single

    14. Professional Single

    Chinese Drama - 2020, 24 episodes

    10

Completed 2020.  One of my favorites actresses Ireine Song, and now my favorite actor Aaron Deng, he’s so handsome, and tall!  The college life storyline is usually a good one.  First loves, dating, new friendships and experiences.  Loved it!

  • Under the Power

    15. Under the Power

    Chinese Drama - 2019, 55 episodes

    10

Completed March 2021 and November 2022.  Discovering more period dramas are actually pretty good.  This was my second pick because I just love actress Seven Tan!  Playing a strong female lead who can fight in martial arts, she’s clever and funny, and she meets her match in the male lead.  The duo is fun to watch and of course, there’s always the love connection!

  • The Prince of Tennis

    16. The Prince of Tennis

    Chinese Drama - 2019, 42 episodes

    10

Completed 2020.  Pretty good storyline, not so much the typical lovey-dovey stuff I usually watch but I did enjoy this one.  An all-star cast playing tennis pros, not to mention pretty handsome dudes!  Ireine Song of course, was a plus to watch also.

  • Here We Meet Again

    17. Here We Meet Again

    Chinese Drama - 2023, 32 episodes

    10

Completed June 2023.  It’s been a while since I found a show and rated it a 10.  This was a little adorable rom-com I found to be pretty entertaining, even despite the number of episodes.  Like most dramas there are a bunch of repetitive parts that kind of drag on but this was not so bad.  Unfortunately, it’s my first time watching Janice Wu, I’ll definitely be checking out her other works.  As for Vin Zhang, I’ve hesitated to watch anything after having a hard time finishing the other show Be Together.  This show just encouraged me to give his other works a chance.  I like him a lot but I think sometimes it’s the script or writing that can turn me off to a show even if I like that actor or actress.

  • A Familiar Stranger

    18. A Familiar Stranger

    Chinese Drama - 2022, 18 episodes

    10

Completed TWICE June 2023.  In just a few words… Short but sweet, unexpectedly entertaining, cleverly written and executed.  And because it is so short, it is worth the watch!

  • New Life Begins

    19. New Life Begins

    Chinese Drama - 2022, 40 episodes

    10

Completed 2023.  Three words to simply describe this show… Wholehearted, Family and Sisterhood.  Watch it and you’ll see what I mean.  Thought it was definitely not the typical story of first wives and concubines, dirty tricks and lies that usually linger on and on.  Yeah, there are still the villains we won’t like, but is short lived.  The writing in this one was quite clever, positive and genuine, had lots of good laughs and touching moments.  Was worth the watch, and gave me a new admiration for the FL, ML, the entire cast actually.  They all did an amazing job!????
