Allie's list of disappointments

Disclaimer: It's okay if you loved/liked some or most of these kdramas, or think they're the best thing ever made in Kdramaland(tm). I didn't think so, though! And that's okay too! So please don't come for me lol

  • Touch Your Heart

    1. Touch Your Heart

    Korean Drama - 2019, 16 episodes

If you follow me on Twitter you probably noticed that I was 300% looking forward to this kdrama. Like, really looking forward to it.

However, I was really underwhelmed after two episodes. Everything felt so bland, and I wasn't buying the WWWSK-esque humour/sound effects. I still continued watching in hopes that eventually I'd be able to brush off the underwhelming feelings, but nah. The only thing I developed for this kdrama can only be described with a Portuguese slang: RANÇO

Anyway, I'm most likely never watching anything directed/written by the same people of WWWSK ever again lol

  • What's Wrong with Secretary Kim

    2. What's Wrong with Secretary Kim

    Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes

    7.5

Not gonna lie, coming from a deep kdrama slump this kdrama was the best thing ever since sliced bread. And as a Korean learner, being able to understand the cow pun just by listening felt like a whole achievement.

Well, too bad the enjoyment died fast haha.

By around episode 6 or 7 I started to get quite bored. And by episode 10 I just wasn't feeling it at all anymore, rip. Actually, episode 12 was the last one I actually watched. I just pretended to finish it all and called a day just to not add another title to my ever so growing list of dropped kdramas.

I did give it an 8 though because overall it wasn that bad, just really boring.

  • Strong Woman Do Bong Soon

    3. Strong Woman Do Bong Soon

    Korean Drama - 2017, 16 episodes

    6.0

This one had potential, real potential. But then it tried to be too funny and too creepy at the same time while being a mere romcom and then became just like a confused Pokémon:

[ it hurts itself in its confusion! ]

The comedy parts were NOT FUNNY. They were mostly very cringey and at some points quite fanservice-y. And then you have that creepy villain (or whatever he was) which was just TOO MUCH. Sure, romcoms can have villains and all, but not a whole villain come straight from an OCN thriller kdrama. IT DIDN'T MAKE SENSE AT ALL!!

Surprisingly I made it to the end of this mess. Also I generously gave it a 6 mostly because of PBY and PHS ONLY.

  • While You Were Sleeping

    4. While You Were Sleeping

    Korean Drama - 2017, 32 episodes

    Suzy.

    That's it.

  • Temperature of Love

    5. Temperature of Love

    Korean Drama - 2017, 40 episodes

I love Seo Hyun Jin and Yang Se Jong.

    I hated everything else tho...

  • Reply 1997

    6. Reply 1997

    Korean Drama - 2012, 16 episodes

    8.5

Did we really have to wait the whole thing just to find out [REDACTED] ends up with [REDACTED]? Really??

This wasn't entirely disappointing, just really annoying to sit through lol. It still goes in this list though because yeahh.

I love the nostalgia factor though!

  • Sweet Munchies

    7. Sweet Munchies

    Korean Drama - 2020, 12 episodes

Honestly I thought this was going to be a nice, feel-good little drama but it turned out into an awful mess...

  • Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol

    8. Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol

    Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes

Not sure what I was expecting from this?? But definitely it wasn't [gestures vaguely] this lol. Also that plot twist was the last straw for me.

  • Start-Up

    9. Start-Up

    Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes

    7.5

You know, I wasn't going to pick this one up because, as you know, Suzy, and because I thought this was going to be like a LinkedIn corporate fanfic(tm). But then I had a change of heart and started thinking "well, this looks like a youthful version of Search: WWW". And so I picked it up.

While the start was actually impressively good, it went downhill lol.

I actually finished it because I hate myself and don't value my time.

  • You Are My Spring

    10. You Are My Spring

    Korean Drama - 2021, 16 episodes

    7.5

I do love a good slice of life/slow-paced drama with a healing aspect. But this sure wasn't it.

I guess it tried to be too many things at the same time but ended up not succeding at any. Or maybe it was unnecessarely long (like every other drama that has been airing lately). Maybe both reasons.

  • Soundtrack #1

    11. Soundtrack #1

    Korean Drama - 2022, 4 episodes

    7.0

Two of my very favourite tropes (friends to lovers and cohabitation) and only four episodes... This couldn't have gone wrong.

... but it did go wrong lmao :)
