Given how popular shows written by Jin soo wan are I felt I needed to watch at least one of her shows. This one is rather good, though its most impactful moments are at the very end. Hwi-yeong's death is satisfyingly upsetting, and soo-hyeon's rampage after his death is heartbreaking. I just have a bit of a disconnect w/ this story because while it pays some lip service to the idea of not being bound by past lives, and that someone being bad in a past life doesn't equate to that person being bad in a current life, the show largely portrays reincarnations as nearly the exact same as their past selves. everything from who you'll fall in love w/ to what you'll be good at to even your tiniest habits can be traced back to a past life for the main characters. The farthest the show actually goes on the idea that people don't have to be the same as their past selves is w/ jeon-seol's mom and BTM possibly feeling regret for his actions at the end. And I'm not sure about how I feel about the show's open ending of YJO just being in se-ju's novel now (and can seemingly now be w/ his friends again inside the novel?)
