Friendships

A Journey To Love has some of my favourite friendships in recent dramas. The romance between the leads was obviously important, but the friendships (and various other dynamics) between all the other characters were equally as important. To the point that I don't think the story is even necessarily about romantic love, but love in all its forms. I really loved the entire delegation. - u/DarlingNikki1992

She gets some assistance from a handsome and brilliant former college friend, but the real story is about her relationship and eventual friendship with another ally, found in the most unexpected place. - u/phroggies70

Blossoms Shanghai- Set against the late 1980s/1990s Shanghai, you follow the story of A Bao and his adventures with his friends as they all try to survive and thrive this tumultous time of change.

This is a Wong Kar Wai show, if you've seen Wong Kar Wai movies you'll really like this show because it's basically a 30 epsiode cut of one movie. The cinematography, the costuming, the set design are all very much in his style. The characters are all extremely deep and have multiple connections to each other, their own motivations and desires. - u/ChoppedChef33

Cross Fire (2020) focuses on beautiful friendships between the teammates as well as between the two leads (Lu Han and Wu Lei). Family ties are also presented. It is one of the best series on esports I have ever watched. - u/Changeusernamealways

Hikaru No Go- the great friendships between the MC, his teammates, classmates, teachers and even the special bond with his rival fit this topic very well. Of course the relationships between him and his mentor are so sweet, as well as the teachers. Lots of supportive relationships in this drama. - u/bunchofchans

Love Endures is about 6 friends who grew up together and goes through life experiences, both good and bad. Their friendship is really touching and though there are alot of flashbacks, they are essential to the storyline. - u/Intelligent_Camel508

Maiden Holmes - While there's an excellent romance in this historical drama, I also enjoyed watching the whole group develop a strong friendship and go around solving mysteries together.  u/RosieSandman

Medical Examiner Dr. Qin

My favorite friends trio of Cdramaland. They are hilarious and have great chemistry with each other. Their inside jokes are the best, clever and sometimes very informative and it is the funniest when they are together in their private time. The highlight of each episode is their banter and when they combined their intellect in solving the cases. Zhang Ruoyun looking so smart and handsome in his tailored suits outfits and him being neurotic is just so amusing. Coupled with Li Xian carefree police attitude and Jiao Junyan serious personality, this friendship trio is just a delight to watch. - u/tsuyoi_hikari-

Meet Yourself - I loved the bond between all the guests at the inn but especially the special bond between Nana and Qing Tian, their bond for me went beyond just friendship and really made me wonder if they’ll develop into something more. - u/Candid-Champion-4509

Memory of encaustic tile. 3 friends that grew up together on the same street and pass throughout hardships together over the years. Category wise I’d say is mild drama, like I cried some episodes but just a couple so not too painful lol. - u/Maili1314

Never Say Goodbye

I ADORE the friendship between the 2 main leads in this drama. One is an undercover police while another one is a drug lord. The whole drama is about them making their way up to the top of drug cartel by out-smart all the 4 top leaders. The highlight of their friendship is how much they know about each other like they are a couple and their chemistry is just like one of the best I have ever seen -- it is natural, funny and heartfelt. The whole drama seemed like a comfort watch despite the nature of the story since their friendship really lighten up lots of serious situations. -u/tsuyoi_hikari-

Nobody Knows - The opening sequence shows our two male leads growing up together, it was the type of pure friendship we all wish we had growing up but circumstances out of their control happens, misunderstanding grew and eventually they got to the point of no turning back but all along the way we see the way they protect each other. The Blood of Youth - This is such a wonderful drama about friendship as the main characters travel together, meet people, and form bonds. It is essentially a story about friendship, family, loyalty, and identity. I greatly enjoyed this show and its characters! - u/acumuluscloud

When I Fly Towards You is solidly a romance, however, the friendship between the 5 high schoolers is stellar. They care for each other and support each other, throughout the entirety of the show. - u/TVAddict4
