Watching Every Thai GL Series

I think the first thing to mention is production value. You will not find another Thai GL series that looks like it came out of Hollywood. That being said, the biggest downside for some is that it is LONG. Personally, I love a slow burn because I really enjoy the build-up to the romance instead of having it forced on me too early. I came to this series immediately after watching GAP, and the role reversal was a bit striking. However, I will say I actually prefer Freen as the more reserved one, and Becky does a great job at being the pursuer.

I thoroughly enjoyed this from start to finish. The plot, acting, and production were just right on point. This is one of those series where the side characters are almost as interesting as the main duo. I will say Pam doesn't spend much time in school as a dental student.

First things first. I just watched the final episode, and while you get the ending you want.....it was extremely rushed. So much wasn't explained or shown, which led me to feel rather let down.

Otherwise! This was an amazing series. The acting from everyone is top-tier (except maybe for the crying in the last episode). The plot was always moving, and each episode was packed with content. WHYYYY DID YOU HAVE TO END SO POORLY. I am so bummed.......this was going to be one of those series I rewatch from time to time as a comfort pick.....but knowing how badly they screwed up the ending just makes me so mad.

This is going to be a little biased, as Blank was the first-ever Thai GL series I ever watched, and I happened to catch it right as the last episode went up on YouTube.  I believe a TikTok video showing Faye and Yoko kissing in the show is what brought me over.

Is Anueng slightly annoying in the first couple of episodes? Yes? Are the sound effects over the top in the first few episodes? Yes?  However, Anueng really mellows out, and the show quickly becomes a very serious drama.  Faye and Yoko are two powerhouse actresses, and they really immerse you in the story. I have seen this show more times than I care to admit, and it has gotten better each time.

Let's start by saying the plot is unique, and there are so many unseen twists throughout the series. Namtan and Film both give superb performances, and the on-screen attraction between them is believable. This is going up there as one of the must-watch series for new people coming to Thai GL.

Judge me if you want, but I found Freen's acting to be a bit rough in this one. I know it was one of the very first Thai GL series and one of Freen's early acting gigs, so I understand what's going on. It was just unfortunate that I had seen such better acting in later series.  Becky was a treat, however, and did a great job throughout. The plot of the show is rather generic, but there is a nice dose of humor throughout that I really enjoyed. I will say, as someone new to Thai GL, it was nice to see the roots of the genre.

I am torn on this one. It had all the right elements: interesting plot twists, good chemistry, but I found myself falling off it towards the end. There was just a bit too much, "Oh, I'm jealous this episode, don't worry, we made up for one episode". They just never seemed to really trust each other, and it got a little stale. I am glad I watched it, and it was enjoyable for the most part, but this is one I won't be going back to rewatch.

LingOrm are great in their roles and make a believable couple where one of them is trying really hard to reconcile. It's a rather short series, so each episode is packed with plot movement. It's also packed with a good deal of scenes that will get you crying, which is okay by me. I recommend giving this a go, given how short it is, but I doubt I would ever come back to watch it again. There's just nothing that really makes it stand out among so many other great series.

I have to say the most enjoyable part of this series was the overall plot. It was refreshing and lighthearted for the most part. This was a low-cost production, but for the most part you anre't able to tell. The acting in general is average, with Orm being the standout. I never really bought into their romance as it felt a bit stilted to watch.

You know, at the very start of the show, for the first few episodes, I had no idea who was supposed to be the main love interest. It just felt like the start was a little haphazardly done, with mixing lots of characters together without getting to know anyone in particular.

Throughout the entire series, I never really felt like Milk and Love showed any on-screen chemistry. The romance felt a bit forced and awkward. However, I thoroughly enjoyed the setting and the other business owners around the store. So few Thai GL shows are set in this part of the city, and I found it refreshing to see this part of everyday life. I am currently waiting to see how it ends, as episode 10 has not come out yet.

First things first. Holy product placement. I know you get a lot of money by having a sponsor, but please try to include them in a natural way. Ok, now that this is out of the way.

This was overall an enjoyable ride. I felt good chemistry between the main duo and found their relationship to be adorable. Each episode had good pacing, and there was always something to look forward to. It is slightly annoying that a lot of the fights between the two could just be handled by a two-sentence conversation to tell the other what really happened. There was a decent twist in the final episode, which I actually enjoyed. HOWEVER, why wasn't there part of an episode after the twist showing them living their life happily afterwards? Do you know what came up after the final, rather disappointing scene? PRODUCT PLACEMENT.

I won't be going back to watch this one, but I am still glad I gave it a chance after reading so many negative reviews on Reddit.
