Costume & Fantasy Drama (2023)

PLOT/STORYLINE: The series has an original, engaging storyline with a strong start and avoids common tropes. While there are logical flaws, such as rushed key relationship moments, it maintains depth and provides some unexpected twists.

CHARACTER & ACTING: The male lead is well-developed and shows strong character growth, making him engaging. The female lead, however, remains static and less expressive. The casting is good, but the chemistry between the leads is lacking, impacting their dynamic.

ACTING QUALITY: The male lead displays a wide range of emotions effectively, while the female lead struggles with expressiveness and emotional transitions, which affects her impact.

ACTION: A balance of dialogue and action, but the second quarter is dialogue-heavy, slowing down the pacing. Fight scenes are well-executed and realistic.

VISUALS, PRODUCTION, CINEMATOGRAPHY: High production quality overall, with polished fight scenes and clean cinematography. Nature scenes suffer from noticeable green screen effects, affecting immersion.

COSTUMES, PROPS, SETTING: High-quality costumes and realistic props enhance the setting, but some backgrounds look artificial due to poor green screen use.

PACING, ENGAGEMENT, EMOTIONAL IMPACT: Pacing is fine but drags in the second quarter. The male lead’s strong performance adds emotional depth, but the female lead’s limitations reduce engagement.

OVERALL IMPRESSION: Despite some flaws in chemistry and visuals, the series is worth watching for its original plot, compelling male lead, solid action scenes, and overall quality.

PLOT/STORYLINE:  It starts  with an assassination attempt and  a lost War between two states, the King is hostage of the winner state. They demand for freeing the king, paying a lot of amount of money and  a marriage alliance; catchy start (Assassin): Is it fresh or doesn't  follow familiar tropes. It's about Love between man and woman, is about loyalty,  it's about friendship and sacrifice.  It's a companionship story and focuses mainly on the relationships of these companions.  The story is not swallow, it has different layers and depths.

CHARACTER & ACTING:  Main characters are perfect chosen,  and well-developed and engaging, they compliment each other well.

ACTING QUALITY: They performance is convincing, the comrades show all a very different personality and their bounding, also the fighting scenes are good and the emotional bounding is expressed well

VISUAL & PRODUCTION:  Cinematography: visually ais ppealing and well-shot, Set and costume design is creative 

FANTASY & HISTORY ELEMENTS:  Historical fantasy - the world-building and lore is  well-developed and immersive 

PACING & ENGAGMENT: keep me  interested, a binge watched it through, Strong Emotional impact and  create suspense, BUT  in the last episodes it was dragging, because there were too much remembering and backviews  and emotions (and then death), I scrolled a lot in the end of the drama because of this

CONTRA:  Last Quarter of the serie was dragging, the plot is shorten and instead there are a lot of Retrospective, too much

OVERALL IMPRESSION

One of the best dramas I have seen, but I am not completely satisfied with the ending and how the companions died in a row. Also the plot was pressed  and dragging in the end. I scrolled a lot in the last Quarter of the show.
