I made this list as historical c-dramas tend not to be as popular as costume dramas, and many of the very best and most ambitious ones unfortunately tend to fly under the radar in MDL.Historical c-dramas are expected to be historically as accurate as possible. 2025 was a landmark year in historical c-dramas since it was the 80th anniversary of the ending of the War of Resistance against Japanese invasion. The war dramas made for the anniversary were weighty and worthy and made with the highest level of ambition possible. Some of these dramas are for me the most important ones ever made, due to subject matter (e.g. Unit 731 and biological warfare). (As I'm not Chinese. I have the liberty to add dramas on my list that might not be classified as historical in the strictest sense. )
