this is going to be an unpopular opinion but after watching episode 9 I completely get why she broke up with him. marriage is not the end goal for everyone and she told him that earlier and he still didn't respect her wishes and did marriage planning behind her back. in addition, the lack of trust and anger he showed when dealing with that yu si situation is disrespectful and immature. yes obviously she isn't perfect but he was the problem too and she was justified in breaking up with him but also justified in mourning him and their relationship. there was a lack of trust and boundaries from him and she didn't want to put up with that but she obviously still loved him.

can someone recommend more female centric, realistic dramas like this?

i agree with you but the reasons you wrote are most likely why lol. this drama is a bit too realistic and most people probably don't like that

I respect the actress's boundaries however I just feel like she was a bit miscast, like there's a line from the novel that states "And Xu Zhi loved kissing so much" but on the other hand turning down roles is turning down money so I kinda get it

i know this show and the midnight romance in hagwon have the same director but I did not expect this many cast members from that show to be in this one too

yeah ik it's more common historically but all the other couples are adults w pretty normal age gaps so i just wish they casted someone a bit older for LS or someone younger for YX , it just makes me a bit uncomfortable to watch

I'm sure they'll give Yang Xian a good redemption arc but he was so so annoying in the beginning that idek if I can root for him, plus the age gap between him and 5th sister is too weird.

The drama has been entertaining and cute so far but the Arab representation was disrespectful. He was obviously a Muslim leader yet he was constantly doing Haram acts. This makes Islam look a joke and disrespects real sheikhs who adhere to Islam.
