Okay that's where I completely disagree with you. If you think yaoi shouldn't exist then all sexually explicit content regardless of orientation should not exist and that's fine if that's your viewpoint but at least we know where you stand. Cis het women should not be shamed for enjoying what is basically gay porn when cishet men have enjoyed lesbian porn since the beginning of time and no one shames them for it. I also don't think the appeal is about fetishizing gay men (it's impossible because it can never translate into real life it remains within the imagination. A straight woman can never be sexual with a gay man and I don't think they watch it because they want to), I think it's about what is lacking in straight sexually explicit content that's mainly geared towards cis het men but that's a whole other conversation.

No I'm a queer woman. And I'm not referring to the toxicity, I wish BLs were less toxic. What I'm referring to are the comment about the story being written by a cis het woman which I was agreeing with you on, BLs are typically written by cis het women, they are targeted towards cos het women so it's unavoidable that the blueprint will follow what appeals to cis het women. So if you're looking for healthy realistic portrayals of queer relationships you would rarely find them here.
