I actually like how they did YZJ’s choice. it is definitely not noble idiocy. it is responsibility vs love and he chose his goal. He had a clear goal and pursued it. I also like that they made the characters think about their actions and decisions and rarely make lapses of judgment that don’t make sense to the plot!

I don’t think he lost common sense, more like, he was worried about Duan Wu that instead of planning for himself, his attention was split.
