Did the duke and fl's mother love each other? Just want a yes/no answer
The novel hinted there were feelings developed between the Duke and Madam Gu.
But, Madam Gu had another daughter aged ten which explained she couldn't leave the Luo family easily.
In the novel, Concubine Qiao was a prostitute and uneducated unlike Madam Gu. MG was a kind woman who let her husband bring back the woman into her household and yet, she was accused of trying to harm CQ's newborn which is odd because it was a baby girl, not a baby boy!
Oh...here we go! Round One LYN & LSY: Yeah, they got all their ducks in a row for this Law-and-Order segment.…
Duke Ying is the bio Papa of LYN. He and his buddies were out hunting bandits one day but he was injured. His guard, a fierce one, went to snatch any woman to attend the poor guy.
Madam Gu was the poor lady. She was estranged from 2nd Master Luo at that time and was staying at the side villa. When she was 'kidnapped' by Duke Ying's men, she didn't mind to remain to take care of Duke Ying since she was told that they were soldiers hunting down the bandits and etc.
The novel didn't say much about Duke Ying and Madam Gu but from the side story, it hinted that Madam Gu developed feelings for him.
One day, the food supply ran out in the cave while Duke Ying's guard was out. He thought he had enough energy to go out hunting for food so off he went and hunted down a deer. He drank the deer blood to make himself better but too much consumption led to him feeling 'peekish' so LYN was conceived.
When he woke up, he realised what had happened and apologised for his action and wanted to marry Madam Gu. But, she turned him down even though he told her he wouldn't mind she was a married woman because he knew she was unhappily married.
A few days later, Madam Gu disappeared. Duke Ying tried searching for Madam Gu but failed since he didn't know her true identity.
Until LJX came back from his visit to the Luo mansion one day where he noticed LYN and the little mole on her face which resembled her real dad's feature.
Honestly, the novel is rather boring compared to the drama. I prefer the drama as it is more exciting.
Actually, the 2nd Master Luo only loved his Yue Chan or Madam Qiao. He was forced to marry Madam Gu because of the marriage agreement between Luo and Gu elders.
1st Master Luo loved Madam Gu but his grandfather already agreed to have him marrying Madam Chen Lan. So, he couldn't marry Madam Gu.
Had they swapped the girls, Madam Gu would have lived.
Yes, but Madam Chen's suspicion is wrong. She thinks LYN is her husband's child, I suspect, so she killed Madam…
I read the part in the novel.
Duke Ying and his guards were fighting against the bandits. He was injured so his guard went to look for someone to help taking care of him. He found Madam Gu.
She stayed for several days nursing the duke. His guard left them to look for help but left a little food supply for the two.
The Duke decided to go hunting for food and hunted down a deer and drank the blood as it would provide more energy for him to recover faster from his illness.
But, the blood was also a form of aphrodisiac so he 'slept' with Madam Gu. He promised to marry her although he knew she was married and estranged from her husband.
I suspect Madam Gu fell in love with Duke Ying during this period even before the incident.
That's why she decided not to abort the unborn child.
In the novel, Yining had a mole on her face. Duke Ying also had the same mole on the same place. Ancient method of DNA tracker.
As I have expected, the father was not responsible for what had happened with LYN's mom.He was a bad father, spineless…
I think his mother was innocent. Madam Gu, LYN's mother protected her and her unborn son so it means there was something going on and another story will be revealed.
The 1st son of the Lou family returns in Epi 18. There is another maid where the old Madam says she resembles someone. Any idea?

However, Duke Ying will marry Miss Yang, I bet!
