In the novel there's no trio. LLH has been friend with FDB for 6 years without knowing he's LXY. There's no disciple-master relation. DFS in the novel didn't join them solving cases, his appearance is seldom but important. Sometimes, the cases are solved by LLH alone without FDB appearance at the site because in the novel he's not a detective, more like just young master from Tianji Manor. It's more like LLH just living his live traveling then he encountered cases on the way.

Jiao Liqiao and her gang alone. Quite same like drama. Shan Gudao, Nanyin descendant and Karmic Bugs are additional plot.

SGD not exist in the novel

I have this feeling too. The look in DFS and FDB eyes were not the look of someone sad it seems. It looks like a relief and surprised after so many efforts they spent to find him. It's beautiful to me.

Considering the novel is award winning and the drama also successful, I wish donghua production will adapt this into donghua. Seeing the official merch of MLC in animation already looks good. Must be fun if there's donghua for Auspicious Pattern Lotus Building :D

Suddenly I referred to their OST song A Pot of Lotus Wine by Hu Xia. One of the lyric is

'不过是挑个自己喜欢的结局'
'It's just picking an ending that you like'

This song really refers a lot to Li Lianhua life if you read the whole ost meaning. It's one of my favourite song for the drama.

Yeahh the fight is soooo satisfying because it's more to raw move speed without too much CGI so it's so satisfying to watch.
