Not expected
Ok let me start by saying that it's not worthy of an 8 per se, but it's so refreshingly different from all the rip bodice dramas out there that I kept watching without realising it! You don't know what to expect, but you must overcome the obstacle of the 1st episode to appreciate it.So an archaeologist travels through time and wakes up as his concubine. He's wacko and she's supposedly more so, or so her body predecessor was. And then you get the ML's super power of being able to enter other people's dreams! Like, whaaaaat? He knows immediately she's not his concubine and yes, they resolve that quite early in the drama, and we get a very touching story that connects both their worlds... Anyway, I don't want to ruin it for you. Watch it, it's really good!

What a chockhold
Let me start with the obvious: The props are plasticer than plastic and the budget is so low they couldn't afford extras to fill the empty spaces in the open air scenes. So why such a high score? Bc it's a rewatch and not only I didn't skip a scene, but I binge watched!!! Blame it on the stars (have the planets aligned?), autumn 's coming, summer's over, the world has turned upside down, I am in a parallel universe or maybe under a spell, blame it on the boogie, because why am I crying over the supposed improbability of their love???? It's the second time I'm watching this, I know how it ends!I spent the last 15 eps struggling along with them to overcome a set-in-stone fate, shedding tears bc their chemistry is really believable ( though the kissing scenes need some redo) and their love makes sense. Or not, I'm not sure anymore. I'm actually appalled at myself, I used to have cdrama standards but I was humbled by a web series. How the mighty fall... Refreshing
The story is so not light themed as at first hinted! It's about womens' dreams in an era that women were things, not humans. It's not a historical representation, obviously(and woe to those who take it a face value), but it's a cleverly told story of different aspects of love in such a way that you can't help but root for all the main CP characters. And they don't all get a HE according to kdrama logic. Some are happier alone. There are some loose ends I would have liked tied(eg. What happened to the Empress' brother?Did the scum prince pay for his crimes in the end?) but it's ok. It's not a heavily political or representational drama, but it definitely conveys the message it should: Live your dream and fight on!Was this review helpful to you?
Perfect binge watch for the weekend
As a woman the themes in this drama hit too close at home for comfort so yes, it deserves a 10/10. The FL is scared of feelings that change in a relationship, she resorts to AI fantasy only to realise that what she wants, exists in reality but it comes with all the traps of real life.Yet she's willing to live for the moment and not let an uncertain future intimidate her. A wonderful mature romcom approach to a universal relationship dilemma: safety or life?Was this review helpful to you?
